      Yep. This videos almost 2 years old so there’s entire playlist of them. Check out the Chaos Theory Camaro playlist. We actually just moved the cooler to the rear of the car a couple weeks ago to make room for subframe connectors. But we had zero issues with it under the floorboard. Of course we weren’t using a transbrake up until now either and obviously that builds heat fast.

  • @michaeldwyer5042

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Před 3 lety

      You need a thermostat switch wired inline. Having the fan running all the time will just wear the fan out that much faster. It may also cause the transmission to never warm up in cooler weather.

    You need to rubber mount these.being alloy the get electrosis from alloy touching straight on the steel.
    And it causes them to leak.most warrantees will be void if you don't use rubber washers when mounting them.
    Also use the right sealing paste on the threads.

  • @TheGrande78
    @TheGrande78 Před 3 lety +1

    the way you wired it even if you turn on the power to the fan it will only turn on once it gets to 185 . you could have wired it with the relay that Derale sales so that it could run with the temp sensor and a switch . just saying incase the temp sensor fails you can turn it on with the switch. nice job on the install

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Před 3 lety +4

      Yes I stated that in the video. The way I wired it is exactly the way it’s supposed to be wired. Except the relay would be activated by an ignition hot instead of the temporary switch I installed. There’s no need to buy any special relay. If you want to override the thermostat switch all you have to do is run ground from the fan to a separate switch. But there should be no need to activate the fan outside of the temperature parameters of the thermostat switch. The only purpose for the switch I installed was to prevent the fans from running, not to override the temp switch. And as I stated in the video, this will actually be controlled by the Holley dash in the future so that switch is only temporary. It’s basically doing the same thing an ignition switched 12v would do.

    • @BadLuckGarage
      @BadLuckGarage  Před 3 lety +4

      @@jamesscarberry3128 Just FYI, the fan only draws 5.3 amps and the temp switch is rated for 15amps.
      Derale doesn’t even recommend using a relay at all for this installation. The only reason I used one is because I didn’t want the extra draw on my ignition circuit. Here’s a link to the instructions if you need more clarification on wiring other than my video or still somehow think I’m not giving the correct information. 😉

    It's just me as a master electrician for 30 years and I may be anal about it. Does anyone solder their wires to connectors like me and use dialectic grease on the connector to the tab on the device being connected to? Am I just being overboard or is it never an issue? In my world any connection is a future failure if not over done. Not saying anything in this vid or any vid is wrong. I'm just curious if I'm being anal about it.
