A lot of folks thought he was terrible because they didn’t understand his special action so thank you for explaining it!
I'm here to watch this after just unlocking him and feeling like I must really be missing something about how it works lol
I love how his weapons change depending on what Band he has equipped. Monk's Bands use basic Guardian weapons, Bands of Enlightenment use Guardian weapons in their + forms, and the Bands of Truth use the ++ variants.
I wish that was also the case for Terrako, Ganon and BTG, they have no graphic differences between their weapons
@@aegrajag Ganon and the Guardian I can understand. They don't use physical weapons, so there wouldn't be any visual change. Terrako's a bit different, but given his tiny size I suppose it makes sense.

I miss the way you would point out "This is Character's best attack for melting boss WPGs", the way you did for HW1. Nonetheless, this video is AMAZING! Monk has been warming the bench since I unlocked him and couldn't make heads or tails of his play style! Thanks for all you do!!!
From what I remember playing, the guy is great at handling bosses and aiming for weak point gauges. I'm surprised you didn't go over how effective he is at individual characters or demolishing bosses like the Hinox and Lynels since both have a particular weak spot he can exploit easily.
The moment I unlocked him, he became my go to whenever there was a hard mission. I find him to be OP IMO.

You should really use CE5 > CSETI for most effectiveness

Forgot: Once he hit's a summoned shrine, the shrine creates a shockwave that knocks up nearby enemies into the air. I think it's only for small enemies, but you can continuously juggle these nearby enemies by smashing the shrine.
Sadly his runes on his ability meter translate to nonsense, just "ENEFST"
The runes on his remote bomb seal spell "Calling"
Cryonis blocks can also be broken to give Maz a rune, so Cryonis into aerial strong attack then hit both objects makes for a quick way to gain two charges.
I already thought he was OP after seeing how spammable his C6 is. It’s crazy to know that there was another layer to this character that I didn’t even know about. He went from easy top 5 to easy top 3 just from this video.
Hell yeah, my fav character! C1 is actually pretty useful. It's good for quickly breaking runes for charges, and also is one of his better weak point gauge shredders when used after C6.
Also the Cryonis ice block gives him a hammer charge when it disappears. Not super useful, but it's there.
Definitely one of the top three fighter i struggled to see how they would be useful and lck the motivation to learn how to play right on my own, along with Hestu and Riju, but i still had fun with Riju. Thanks for explaining.
Using his Unique Action mid-air also causes him to grow massive, but to do a big belly-flop slam instead of pulling out a hammer.
Functionally, (I think?) it's the same as doing it on the ground. Maybe a little faster? IIRC, it definitely launches his other objects the same way.

The shrine doesn't break by normal attacks, but hitting it does a big AoE around it with every hit, so it can be used to place something between you and a big mob or dangerous enemy and smack the shrine to hit them all.
This is by far one of the most fun characters once you learn it, monkey go monk
I was wondering if you could make a seal tier list at some point, since a lot of them are a bit confusing to understand.
I'm rather excited we're gonna be able to play a guardian.

When I figured out the bit about the shrine. He became one of my favs.
Summon a shrine between you and a boss, this either brings out their weakpoint or just keeps them from closing in, hitting it causes shockwaves that juggle enemies, then summon six spike bombs, hold right trigger to make them bounce, and if you have his ex ability, fire a laser that melts weakpoints. You can easily take out 3 guardians at once with this, and it refills your runes, so theres no extensive setup, its just the longest natural combo Maz does.
Oh also in the 2nd DLC, if you hold ZR long enough he unleashes a devastating blow on life gauges both the hammer and his laser beam.
Please do calamity ganon next. He is one of the more confusing characters

Awesome Video Bro! Monk Maz Koshia was always an Interesting Character. Like in his boss fight in Breath Of the Wild. It's cool that you can play as him.

I was so pleasantly surprised today when i suddenly unlocked him today, totally my style of character and those combos feel so satisfying, glad to hear from you that he's up there with the strong chars
Enemies can also break ancient relics, and they will give you a unique action rune charge
Monk: I'm better than you I can make clones of my self become giant and SUMMON A DAMN SHRINE WHAT CAN YOU DO
Master kohga: I eat a banana to make me happy while my friends attack for me

Something I noticed you didn't go over about the shrine is that if Monk Mahz Carrotsticks hits it with a regular attack, it lets off a weak shockwave. I find it useful if a gaggle of Bokoblins are grouped up behind it
Maz’s C1 is actually pretty great. It’s his best WPG shredder with C6. You don’t even need Stasis

Stronk attack 6 is so busted, early release tier lists putting monk in low tier always made me angerlaugh XD
Same. I thought he was cool in botw when I played the dlc and when I got him in this I was hoping he was good. I ended up loving his move set and when I saw him low on tier lists it pissed me off since he shreds mobs and bosses. I also love how he runs when he turn into an orb
You didn't say that the shrine amplifies all damage that you throw at it.
You can combine your other strong attacks with it to extremely amplify the damage dealt,
C5 Into C6 into hammer is insane in clearing out places
Monk Maz Koshia is allowed in the Gerudo town Vai competition quest despite not being a woman. Other characters who are allowed are Terrako (a robot), Daruk and Yunobo (goron), and Hestu (a korok).
@Chip Wiseman We do not know if Monk Maz Koshia identifies as a woman however the game does use he/him pronouns to refer to the monk. I for one believe that Monk Maz Koshia has transcended beyond gender to achieve enlightenment.

He is so fun to play as.
This isn't big but a small bonus is upon attacking his items he can place you gain special meter. I haven't tested it myself but if you put on special build up maybe summoning his final combo or shrine combo could build a full special bar in one go?

You forgot to mention that you can use his unique action in the air to instantly drop down

He uses those motion control gimmick hammers as a weapon, that's kind of funny
I always saw him as being like Lana's tome

So, I've been using Master Koshia in my top 4 runs but I just finally beat Final Battle and have everyone at level 95 or higher and do not know what else more is to do .
I have his weapons bumped up to level 30 at least except the Band of Enlightenment
So I guess where do I go from here

In the Sheikah alphabet, Monk's six runes spell out "E N E F S T". I have no idea what that means :/
When I watched the trailer from age of calamity I wanted Maz Koshia was playlable and my dream came true 🥲😍🤩
This still dies not explain how to use it.
