- Using WORLDS WITHOUT NUMBER to generate a comprehensive setting for a Scarlet Heroes campaign, this worldbuilding video kicks off the campaign setup for an upcoming actual play series.
The OSR system by Kevin Crawford exists in a free and premium version, with the free version of WORLDS WITHOUT NUMBER including everything you need to bring a custom setting for your solo tabletop rpg campaigns to life (it does, of course, also work for group content and other systems, e.g. a 5E Dungeons and Dragons and Mythic GM Emulator combination or even Ironsworn).

I ordered the hardbound physical copy of Worlds Without Number based on your statement that supporting the author supports you.
That's fantastic, thank you so much for supporting the authors that make all this stuff. It's a great book, wish you lots of fun exploring it!
Sorry bout the horribly late response, really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. A new puppy hit the house and wrecked my schedule. All good now!
I'm impressed with your command of several languages. I can barely make myself understood in one.
Hah, thanks! Well, I'm native German and TTRPGs and video games taught me English but beyond that I can only do nasty and borderline incomprehensible things to French and unintentionally offend people in other Latin based languages. Considering I'm in a place where I'm surrounded by people who can switch through three, four languages fluently seemingly at will this whole language command thing is most definitely relative!
@@killtenratsrpg Come to England, and you will be treated as a Polyglot Wonder. 😄
I had the same idea. Looking forward to your creation.
Perfect Timing!! :D Just got the book.
Subscription inbound!
Awesome! Have fun with it, it's great and I've barely scratched the surface.
@@killtenratsrpg Same here. Planning on building a world soon. Once I find the time.
The RPG rules on sound awesome too. Although the rules seem not "as" polished and consistent as the world building part.
Never build a world before. So the book and your videos will help a lot to do so.
@@maxmusterspace6037 I haven't looked at the rules too intensively but it looks like the general gist of them runs parallel to the Scarlet Heroes ruleset I want to play with initially, so maybe I can transition the series into solo Worlds Without Number rules eventually.
Good luck with the worldbuilding, it's a ton of fun and dangerously addictive. You may end up wanting to build more worlds than you have time to play!
@@killtenratsrpg Not sure if I am creative enough to pull that off. But I would take that addiction. 😜
Will you add assets to the 3 big shakers for the faction moves / mini game?
This is the first of your videos I've come across as I'm about to GM my first ever TTRPG campaign. It's really interesting to hear your thought process as you're filling out the backstory. Thanks for the video, I'm looking forward to seeing the next few
Worlds Without Number is a really nice tool for campaign and world building, ticks a lot of the boxes you might want answered if you enjoy going deep on preparing a campaign (although I'm also playing a game now where I just wing everything and prepare nothing - also fun). The structure and set of tables really are something else!
Great video! Subscribed, looking forward to more!
This will be exciting!
Very cool. Just considering a WWN campaign.
Since Stars Without Number was for sci-fi and Worlds Without Numer for was fantasy, wonder if there will be a superhero game called "Heroes Without Number".
Give it a minute and there will be, I'm sure. Kevin Crawford just can't miss and there's a fair few other products in a similar vein as those two put out by "Sine Nomine".
Sorry bout the horribly late response, really appreciate you taking the time to leave a comment. A new puppy hit the house and wrecked my schedule. All good now!
@@killtenratsrpg Way I see it, the high fantasy, space opera, and superhero genres are full of infinite possibilities. They've created the biggest franchises of our time. It would actually make sense for there to be a superhero game in this series.
There's now "Cities Without Number" for sort of cyberpunk dystopia, so I think the naming scheme has certainly stuck haha
Godbound by the same author is about playing demigod like characters, I think that fits your criteria.
Not sure if this will be applicable before you complete the region-building episode, but maybe the Harmony Empire named themselves after Ilona Geza?
That's a thought! Maybe the Ilonate Union? The Covenant of Geza? The Holy Gezaian Empire? I've prerecorded one episode for next week but I've not set down any names yet so I'll gladly take it on board, it makes a lot of sense - thank you!
OK your English is better than most people who speak it as their mother tongue. And you also speak German? No need to apologize. I am excited to break out my WWN tome and start rolling. Your decadent empire reminds me of Melnibone.
Native German but speak primarily English now due to work and a relationship with a non-German-speaker. Pretty sure the main contributing factor to my vocabulary were TTRPGs, video games and non-dubbed movies and TV shows.
Melniboné, right! That'd do it. Only read that book once about thirty years back so I'm a bit hazy on the details. The empire definitely needs more fleshing out, it'll probably get a bit more focus in episode three of this series.
Are you using Scarlet Heroes or do you plan to use Heroic Characters/Legates from WWN? a combination of the two?
Scarlet Heroes to test it out and then see where we go from there. I'd like to stay with the Colrain setting for a while so I might use it to test-drive and show-case several variants of systems. WWN could be one of them, maybe one of the stripped-down solo engines to make 5E work, we'll see. But Scarlet Heroes will be the kick-off, with maybe some additional oracles thrown in and all the random books to generate content and quests and such.

I think you accidentally created fantasy capitalism with that decadent empire.
Oops! Well I guess the deal with the devil is the original capitalist bargain so a fiendish empire of decadence should feel right at home there.
