- OGS is one of my favourite Virginia based blend. In today’s video I will compare it to the new Orlik Vintage which is, an aged golden sliced. Up to now OGS blend was only available in the US & EU in 50g & 100g tins. I am happy to inform UK Orlik lovers that the two blends are now available in the UK, albeit in 50g tins only. Let’s find out what differences are between the two.
Orlik Golden slice blend description.
A blend of golden, fully ripe Virginia leaves from the traditional districts of the United States and a smidgen of perique. Natural sweetness and freshness with hints of citrus.
Notes: Previous edits to this blend have averred that a dispute exists whether or not Golden Sliced contains perique. It does. Please note that the website stglanepipe.com states on its Orlik page that certain of its blends (including Golden Sliced) contain "fully ripe Virginia and a little perique."
Orlik Vintage blend description
The Orlik Vintage pipe tobacco is a blend of premium aged Virginia with a pinch of Perique/Burley tobacco and no added flavourings. There is some debate as to whether there is Burley or Perique in the blend but this component adds a subtle spice note to the blend. This pipe tobacco is created using the same blend as Orlik Golden Sliced but is left cooking in the press for significantly longer. This produces a slightly darker and smoother smoking tobacco. The premium Virginias are smooth, sweet, and creamy with grassy citrus notes which are complemented by the subtle hint of spice every now and again. Thinly sliced into flakes Orlik Vintage is widely regarded as one of the best Virginia flakes on the market. This naturally sweet and spicy the blend is light to medium in terms of its strength and nicotine content with a pleasant room note. This mixture burns cool and smooth with absolutely no bite.
Thank you for sharing your thoughts on these blends. It's such a joy to listen to your descriptions. This is what I have been missing in tobacco reviews. Nobody does it as well as you do!
Will be watching more of your videos.
Thanks Naveen. I appreciate your comment😊
Great video, precious comparisons,... Thank you.
Thank you Levent
Lovely video, what more can I say.
I hope you are all well Nathan,
Happy Easter Weekend 🙏
Thanks Daniel. Enjoy the weekend as well
Thanks for your comparison, i ordered the vintage from GQ waiting for it's arrival. I think it is only available in the UK & Ireland for now, interesting that 🤔 There is some truth that the Orlik 100g tin is sweeter i am not sure why that is. I am also waiting for the salty doges you are raving about can't wait to try it and watch your review when you finally upload it. Anyway i enjoyed watching your review very much. That poker does look good Nathan 😎 enjoy the long weekend.
Thanks Gary. I am sure you would love the Salty Dogs. Please let me know your feedback on the Vintage. I am actually smoking a bowl now with your pal Andrew😀 Regards from him
@@TheVapingPiper Really?😂 Enjoy
Love it, and cheap too,,,🔥
Enjoy ☺️
Man you read my mind..I was just thinking bout this...like minds!Good review!
Thanks Todd😊
Dear Nathan. I was hoping you would review the Orlik Vintage so when Beth alerted me that you did just that, i was very happy to settle down & load my bowl with the Vintage that i received last week and smoke it with you. It was as enjoyable as i was hoping it to be. Indeed it is very mellow & smooth yet it is what OGS is all about. Fruity & nutty with some tangy orange peel zest and i too detect some mellow perique spice on occasion. I will defiantly order some more Vintage tins as i prefer the mellowness of the Vintage over the red OGS. Thank you Nathan for your most enjoyable video that i will watch again over the weekend. Regards. Daniel
Amazing Daniel I am happy we smoked the vintage together😊 yes I agree with your description of the blend. It is exactly that, OGS but mellower & silky smooth. Enjoy it & have a relaxing weekend. Regards to Beth as well.
'Preciate the review, sounds like pretty good stuff
Thanks. It is good stuff😊
Hi, the key flavoring in Orlik Golden Sliced is bergamot, a small orange-like citrus fruit grown in the Indian Subcontinent. It is the same flavoring used in Earl Grey tea. Smell a tin of Earl Grey tea and then compare to the OGS. Cheers.
That’s interesting. Thanks for your feedback
Good Afternoon 😊 Thanks for the comparison and sharing your thoughts on the blend 👏🏼👏🏼 Have a wonderful day & Greetings from South Africa 🇿🇦
Thanks Yusuf. I just watched the heart sinking Video you posted as of late. Our thoughts & prayers are with you. We all hope for a positive turn in the tragic events that engulfed you & family.
@@TheVapingPiper Much Appreciated ❤🤗🙏🏽
Happy Easter, Nathan.
Thanks & to you too
Happy Easter Nathan
Thanks Richard. Enjoy the holidays
I think the 100g tins ARE better. Not tried the vintage, must correct that. How is your Neerup apple pipe smoking now? I have several of Simon's pipes too, including a fantastic Churchwarden sans filter. The others are 9mm. Did you say you have a 6mm from him? Have a lovely Easter break. My best regards, Nathaniel.
Thanks Nathaniel. Apparently you are among many who think the 100g tins are better, that is so interesting to why that is. I haven’t yet smoked my Neerup😀 as for my LCS poker originally he designed it as a non filtered but I asked him to modify it to a 6mm due to it’s nearly nose warmer length so I have a option to add a filter in case I feel some heat with certain blends.
I've looked into importing tobacco from Germany and US before but was put off by customs fees? Could you tell me where to order from and the customs one would expect to pay? I think many people would be interested given the ridiculous price of tobacco in the uk. Many thanks
No problem Callum I can do. As a precaution it will be wiser to pass on the info you require via email. As a foot note you don’t want to reach the stage that your precious tobacco parcel is held by customs as the price to release it is simply not worth the unreasonable amount of fee to pay. Please email me and will gladly pass on my personal experience in the matter. You can find my email on the about tab on the channel.
@@TheVapingPiper I will do so, thank you.
@@TheVapingPiperIn case it went to spam, just confirming I did send you the email but not to rush. Many thanks
It actually was in spam😂 replied👍
