There is a subtlety in the National Assembly election that you got wrong : it's not with 12,5 percent of the votes that you can pass through the second round, but with 12,5 percent of people on electoral lists. Given the probably low turnout, this could have its importance.

The French political system has a lot of factors from the British system while the king was still in real power. Like that the king handles foreign policy, that the king appoints a Prime Minister and Parliament can only vote the PM out but not vote for its own PM
Pretty dictatorial in a way. I mean what if we just elected a dictator every 5 years, would that also be "democratic", just because he's elected? You need to give parliament as much power as possible, while not losing too much stability

Jenny Lo Wouldn't necessarily disagree with you but I still think he has a large chance of being in the second round against Le Pen. If he can then attract all "moderate" voters of the centre, centre right and centre left then it *should* be in the bag for him but turnout could flounder, people could be shy Le Pen supporters, anything *could* happen, just look at the catastrophes which are Brexit and Trump...

What's wrong with agreeing with somebody ? You think you have to do the exact opposite of everyone else ? All of them agree on a lot of things but they don't say it because they want to have a clear line between them and their opponent, Macron throws that out and say, good ideas can come from anywhere and if he agree with someone he says it and to me it's a good thing, it helps the discussion to know what you agree on, just another stupid meme against Macron that has no substance.
