Back at it ! Appreciate the support
Dear Richard and Mulder. Where have you gone?
Nice work Richard! I’m defiantly leaving my rails wide from now on and ripping later!
Nice ! Glad I could offer something helpful
Appreciate the old school shop. Very much how I work as well. I leave my doors 5mm oversized and square them up after. Tho maybe that just seems simpler to me because the majority of my work is inset and I have to fuss with them anyway. So many ways to do things!
Just wanted to thank you for your vids, Richard! As a cabinet noob they're amazingly informative and helpful. Cheers!
Thank you !
Love this video. Never thought about leaving the rails wide. Probably just saved me a finger. Thanks for the video.
Nice ! Glad that was helpful and that you got some value from it !

Hey Richard, So I made some cabinets fall of 22, and then spring of 23, I made 22 shaker doors over the summer and installed them by June/July. However because I didn't have a conditioned space, the milled material/wood (frames were made with yellow poplar and I used MDF 1/4 for the panels) apparently the material had a lot of moisture left in them. They were all flat and fine when I primed and painted and installed but the wood heat in my house this winter has warped some of them (5 out of 20). Do you have any suggestions as to how I could fix them? I know I could make new doors but I'd rather not go through the process again. I've also heard I could sand the back side of a door, down to bare wood, introduce some moisture and then clamp it down and let it dry fully within the home. Then eventually prime and paint it again. Any other suggestions? Thanks!
You should really post more content.
I’m finally making another video now and more to follow !!
Also more CZcams videos than IG shorts 🥺
Hi Richard, do you prefer 1/4” maple inserts over mdf?
Not necessarily, this was something I happened to have laying around . Mdf works perfectly well for paint grade .
How do I use a hand held router for this?
You mount it to a piece of MDF and then turn it upside down. It is not a safe practice to use large router bits in a handheld router. You can find plenty of ideas for a simple router table that will work well for your needs.
You dont round over the edges?
I actually forgot to add that into the vid . Should have mentioned something . I do different edge treatment depending on the job. Some get 1/8” round over , some 1/16 round over , and some just an eased edge with a piece of sand paper . These particular doors go to a flush inset upper cabinet so they didn’t get a round over I just eased the edges .
@@cabinetwise This is one of those details I was talking about that people forget to add. What about the inside edge? Same ease?
No the insides i keep sharp on shaker doors . Only the outside
