@Piano Chin Sadly, but the longer we who still remember, remember, the longer it will take before they are forgotten, _if_ at some point our heroes and veterans will be.
I was so happy this morning to hear an Indigenous veteran included on this day to speak and to be celebrating on the same day instead of being marginalized to a separate day! Mr. Banock of the Gitxsan, Gitsegukla First Nation shared with me, how on his return from the Korean war was shoved onto the reserve again, had no rights or privileges and was only able to leave the postage stamp reserve if he got permission from the Indian Agent. And we all know there were mean, nasty nah-sayers in love with their power-over positions over those they deemed as "others", instead of honouring the most honourable veterans in Canada.
From a grateful U.S. citizen,to the great nation of Canada- I thank God for each Andrew every one of of your veterans who bravely fought, especially, but
@James Ray it was necessary at the time. For all we know we could be under a dictatorship at this very moment if it wasn't for our soldiers. Regardless of your beliefs it was absolutely necessary at that time. So in essence it's because of them we are able to live free today.
@James Ray if Germany was successful at defeating the Soviets wouldn't dictatorship have been successful as well? I also believe the axis may have taken us over because they were fueled by greed and the want for domination as well as the allies. There is no evidence that they would not have done that is there? Whichever way you look it was a struggle for power. There would have been central banks from the other side that would have ruled the world. One way or another it came down to protecting our people from something that was going to happen regardless. By the way I appreciate your opinions because having this dialogue with you is a great way for me to learn. I'm not super versed in my history so I must say I'm coming at this from a belief/educated standpoint and not a fully research based one so please don't take offence to what I'm saying because I'm trying to learn here whilst being mindful and respectful of your perspective/thoughts.
In Flanders fields the poppies blow Between the crosses, row on row, That mark our place; and in the sky The larks, still bravely singing, fly Scarce heard amid the guns below. We are the Dead. Short days ago We lived, felt dawn, saw sunset glow, Loved and were loved, and now we lie, In Flanders fields.
We remember our heroes who fought for our land and freedom thank you very much to all veterans who put their lives at risk for us an the ones that are still working for us thank you so so much
Dam good to hear & see every Indigenous Veteran has finally, in 2020 been included in the ceremony. Thanks to the CBC radio show that did this this morning; and I am hoping this journalist raises this point on inclusion versus #150+ years of colonial exclusion!
They were always included as they were members of the Canadien armed forces it was just underlined that they are a part of our family for people that were not aware. We are finally starting to included the traditions of Native Americans in out ceremonies to increase the inclusion into the organization.
The colonial exclusion wasn't because we were preventing them from celebrating their heritage. There's lots of indigenous activities in the armed forces. They were just keeping with military tradition in the ceremonies but as time and leadership changes so do traditions.
Tell that directly to one and see what they think about the current removal of freedom while celebrating their service. What they fought for during the 40's IS COMPLETELY GONE !! Stop deluding yourself and hero worshiping. Men like me were tricked and used.
My grandfather fought in WW2.....and what did he fight for???? FREEDOM!!!! Our ancestors fought against those who would try to enslave us, they put aside safety because they knew that our rights and freedoms are more important than safety.

I'd like to comment to George Slade. I wish him not to feel any embarrassment about appearing before the cameras or 'being the center of attention'. He put a live face for us to see and he shared, not only difficult, but dangerous situations with us, making it all the more real for those of us who only know what he had to live and function through from news reels, books or portrails in movies. My father tried to serve several times but kept getting found out for being too young. When he was finally old enough, his military career was shortened by the end of the war and he never did get overseas. Thankfully he's still here, and celebrated his 95th birthday last month. Geroge, thank you for your willingness to sacafice all your tomorrows so we can live today as we do.
We often reflect on family members who have passed that were veterans. Two songs i always loved are Bryan Adams remembrance day, and Gordon lightfoot's patriots dream.
How touching..yes all those who fought will definitely be remembered along with all the innocent civilians who lost their lives, all the women n children who were victims to war crimes..th unsung heroes
We don’t realize what they did for us, how can we ever smile knowing what happened in the wars. My great grandma and grandpa fought in the war and my grandma died from old age and my grandpa died on the battlefield. Lest we forget the people who fought for us.

A veteran is telling his war service story, and the cameras switch to the PM and his wife's arrival as more important than the cameras staying on the living and breathing war veteran telling his story! They are very few left in Canada, and the CBC takes the cameras off of him! Get your priorities straight for this day! After he told his story you could have switched the cameras over to the PM and his wife. Show more respect!
I was there they wouldn’t let anyone close to see the ceremony and they had a heavy police presence everywhere with gates and large city trucks blocking off the entire area it didn’t feel like I was in a free country anymore.
You're not in a free country anymore. The freedom we had ended in 2015, and we have been governed by globalists and Laurentian elitists ever since. That elitist clique don't have any use for us.
WOW... the province of NS, ON, PQ, MB, are disrespecting our vets. Can you imagine that vets have to work on Remembrance Day ?. CHANGE YOUR LAWS IN YOUR PROVINCES..... this should be a stat for ALL
Put Off! about the stay away statements, these news people are preaching, to our tribute getto geathers on Rememerance Day, who are they to tell us to keep away, + stay at home.
Did you hear the role the Armed Forces played in protecting veterans in the LTC homes? that is your answer - we have a current as well as a historic reason to be grateful and remember and honour our military in all their forms of service. I'm grateful!
we remember all of the soldiers who have given their life to make Canada a great and free country today! happy remembrance day!
@Piano Chin Sadly, but the longer we who still remember, remember, the longer it will take before they are forgotten, _if_ at some point our heroes and veterans will be.
As an indigenous person and former infantry cadet. We stand by our fallen brethren.

Thank you to all veterans for fighting for all of our freedoms, rights, and liberties. May we all never forget!
Thanks to all Canadian heros.
The fact that the federal Government treats the the veterans so bad disgusts me as a serving member
It was all just for show. We are in a war for our freedoms against COVID and nobody seems to care.
