I’m so glad you’re back. One of favorite gardening channels. Those plants are beautiful. I’m zone 8 as well, but humid central Texas. Welcome BACK! 🍂🍁🌾👏🏻
Welcome back!! Great plants, I wish I could have them in my jungle, but I'm in a warmer climate and I can only grow things in containers. Have a great weekend!! 😊
Just discovered your channel and have been binge watching for about 2 hrs. Loving it and your garden tours. Stunning and so inspiring Welcome back BTW.
I had two gorgeous, mature black lace sambuca that I absolutely loved. About two years ago, I started caring for and feeding feral cats to help control rodents and chipmunks living around my garden. Many of my neighbors grow fruit and vegetables and I had rats living under my garage. The cats successfully remeidied that problem. Yay! However, they were big fans of climbing, hunting, and playing in the black lace sambuca that had grown into beautiful large tree like shrubs that covered a garden trellis. I didn't pay attention to how much they were using them as scratching posts and this year they did not survive the wet rainy winter of 2018. One died completely and the other struggled through and looks like something that should be in front of a haunted mansion. I will, one day plant more. Hopefully, they will survive a zone 8b garden if I plant them in part shade.
Oh my! We just saw one of the blacklace elderberry on our walk today. It’s a mature specimen & is gorgeous! I’m thinking of getting one this fall to plant in front of a white brick wall. I have 2 lime green evergreens already toward the front of that garden & 2 hydrangeas on either side of those so I think that addition will look great!
🏡 Hello ! Welcome back home ❤ It's where we hang out hats and share our hearts. I just met you here @ your back door . I' m curious about Blk Lace Elderberry . I dug mine up and pitched it because my lot is so narrow . Do you. It yours back to control the habit? It then grows beautifully . Cutback to hip Just After Blooming. It is gorgeous and it is fresh and new but still grows to full size ! I didn't have enough space. Thank you for new lessons to learn & grow ❤
I just planted a ninebark "coppertina" in my backyard that I rescued from the clearance section at Lowes. I am hoping it will produce blooms next year, I had to trim back several branches that had dead foliage on them. Hoping for the best. I have it planted with strawberry vanilla hydrangeas arborvitae, and creeping Jenny. Love red/purple foliage in the garden!
I purchased a Coppertina Ninebark from a grocery store several years ago. It is 12' tall and 8' wide now. I hope to trim it next early spring. It is towering over a Black Lace Sambuca Elderberry. I need to rescue the Elderberry so I can see it and enjoy it! Both shrubs are beautiful!
Make sure it gets a lot of space/air around it and don't crowd other plants too close. Will develop a mold/fungus if you do. I ended up moving mine to a clear space (after 2-year occurrence) and it is doing great now.
I wish there was a show like yours that focused on zone 10. I’m in Oakland California these things will not tolerate it here and they would probably require a lot of water which is very expensive
I have a split leave elderberry and live in zone 5 in Canada. I have had it growing for about 4 years and it seemed to be doing ok but this year the top foliage has flopp.ed over and looks like it has wilted. I gave it a good watering as it has been very dry, but no luck so I had to cut off about 2 ft of the main trunk. The rest of the shrub looks fine. Any ideas what it happened?
USDA climate zones rate hardiness of plants based on minimum annual temps in increments of 10°F. eg. z5:-20°F, z8:10°,F & z10:30°F (tropical)... I'll let you convert to Celcius.
I have a black lace elderberry for a few years and it has never grown big 😪 I am in zone 5. I have change its position once, but it doesnt seem to like our place. I am so sad about that !
You're an engaging knowledgeable gardener. ❤
Glad to have come across your video. You featured my favorites. I will add an elderberry in my new bed. Thanks for sharing. Ottawa, Canada ❤
Glad to see you back!
So glad to see a new video!
Beautiful specimens. My favorite is the Blacklace Elderberry.

I’m in Michigan and now is a great time to plant too! Gives everything a big head start for getting established before spring.

Very informative episode. Thank you!
I love the mulberry bush. I need one for my yard.
It is an elderberry, not a mulberry. Don't get mixed up if you are looking for one! Don't want you to be disappointed.

A great trio of plants to illustrate your points nicely.

Should I be careful where I plant a Nine Bark, what is the root system like
@garden style do u have a follow video for the ninebark u planted
Beautiful plants...what is the plant behind you with those stunning clusters of red berries?
The shrub is a Hardy fuchsia. They bloom their hearts out till the first frost. :)
Hardy fuchsias, not berries you are seeing the flowers.
Full sun for both? And how wide? Glad ur back!
Yes! Full sun for all.
How do you prune the elderberry?
Isn't nine bark native to the Pacific Northwest?
Can we order plants from your nursery? I am in North Idaho (Laclede) if that is relevant 😊
No I'm afraid not. :)
I so want to grow Black Lace Elderberry but Proven Winners says zone 4-7. Are you able to grow in your zone 8. We are in FL zone 8
Yes! Mine is 8 feet tall and needs a trim. Lol
@@GardenStylenw Thx, I'll try it again.
Is that a type of elderberry that's medicinal?
No just decorative. :)
Hi, I live in the UK so I know nothing about what zones mean. Could anyone explain it to me 🤔

What about a red-leaved rose (Rosa glauca)?
