Tendon is actually low in fat and high in protein. It is a good alternative for those who want the sensation of fat in their mouth minus the actual fat. The fatty texture of it is due to collagen.
Yeah, I don't think there's any fat at all! It's just connective tissue. I've seen it cooked (in Mexican food) where it was chewy and entirely transparent. Strange waxy texture. It wouldn't be my first choice! But these hawkers seem like they know how to cook. I would have eaten anything we saw today, and some rice to go with it. Our food/travel guys never seem to want to eat rice, but that pig's knuckle (say) seemed like it would have really gone well with a bowl of rice! Or maybe a steamed bun. I thought for SURE Sonny was going to get something with a FISH HEAD on it, since that seemed to be in a few signs.
Agree
@@leonardpearlman4017 He likely doesn't want rice when he has to eat a lot of dishes in a short time; it would be too filling.
Yep. Mostly protein. I kind of like the texture in Viet and other Asian food. Cook it long enough and it turns into glue.
Its hard for me to try, we generally throw thise away, whenever i bite into "nerve" my gag reflex goes off
Hi Sonny, for the old cucumber soup, you're actually not supposed to eat it with the skin on (at least in my family). Try it with only the inner flesh next time you order it!
It's like eating zhongzi with the wrapping on, yummy fibre.
Second this. We scrape off the flesh and discard the skin too
I always eat it with skin on. No issue lah. 🤗
I’m a young mexican trying to make it out the Hood , i smoke weed on my CZcams channel & i did a Mukbang inside of Lowes🥷🔥
I eat it with the skin here too haha. Up to your taste bah.
Yay Sonny you're finally in 🇸🇬! Welcome to our country! Enjoy our fabulous food from all our wonderful different cultures! 🤗
Hope I can visit one day! 🙃
I think it's prerecorded, most videos from this channel as well
@@oyaoya5200 definitely same like Mark Wiens. I assumed they traveled together but filmed separately.
Not entirely sure if they shot this early or late last year.
@@tommyfield8449 it was after Sonny got married, so we can at least know that it’s not that old. ✌🏻😊
With Mark’s videos I always look at how big Micah is in the videos to gauge how old or new the content is. 😄
Yo...that's crazy food...we give it a try.
USA,ARKANSAS
I can’t believe you’re here in Singapore 🇸🇬! Am looking forward to try all the stuff now (even tho I’m local, I haven’t really venture) and just wanted to say it’s so amazing to see you do an episode in Singapore (been watching this channel for ages)
Sonny, your sense of adventure in food, blows me away. Some of the food you try, makes you my hero! Loved this video.
And yet, every time he eats cucumber, he complains about how bad it is. I totally relate tbf, cucumber sucks
@@A_Balanced_Breakfast you are simply wrong cucumber is amazing
wrr
Hi Sonny welcome to Singapore!
Frog porridge
Stingray
Its a must try!
And all sorts of shellfish!
I'm a local and can tell you where to find the exotics.
Second this and add Tulang Merah! Slurping marrow out of a gravy bone is great fun.
stingray 🤤🤤
If exotic meats, there is a turtle soup stall, frog porridge stall, stingray stall, various shellfish , black chicken soup, various pork, beef, chicken, mutton innards , shark meat Lor mee, century egg porridge, preserved meat dishes, chicken feet in Thai sweet sauce , mutton bone marrow, mutton brain soup, all in same hawker centre. Yeah, it’s that big.
Yay welcome to Singapore! Been watching and following your videos - looking forward to more of your content!
i can definitely say this video is gonna be the best food review ever!
It indeed will attract more people down ro Singapore to taste the food out!
Welcome to Singapore and thank you for featuring and coming to Singapore!
wrgg
Literally finished my trip to Singapore when this video dropped and loved the Maxwell and Amoy Hawker Centres in Chinatown. Cheap food and very tasty dishes.
I've been waiting forever for BEFRS to come to Singapore!!!! Nice to see you enjoy the local food here :)
Fantastic food and video. Thanks Sonny, you make the show GREAT!!!
These type of videos I love. Exploring uncommon dishes of countries in their little nook restaurants in who knows where.. Now time to find a plate of tendon with gravy.. in Los Angeles lol
Sonny! Please do more Singaporean content, loved it so much!!
Another fantastic video…LOVED IT!!!!!!!!
Sonny's jokes always cracks me up, so wholesome.
Everything looks so delicious😋😋 Amazing content sir❤❤❤
All the food looks so delicious, thank you for sharing this with all of us.
ur under haostage
this episode really has some great soups. one of my favorite for sure. this stuff look amazing
So excited to see you in Singapore!!!
Sonny i am so excited that you are in Singapore!! As a singaporean, i highly recommend hawker food: Hokkien mee, Nasi Lemak, Chilli crab, Yong Tau Fu, Roti Prata!!
Most cuisines in singapore are influenced by chinese, malay, and indian culture! Some of them are also inspired from dishes originated from Malaysia/indonesia etc. Basically a mixture everything in South East Asia all together :)
Just another fan of BEFS here, but I like your comment. I’m from the US and Singapore is on my bucket list of travel and food places! So, I copied your comment for things to try while I’m there. ☺️ Thank you for sharing! I knew about chili crab as it’s easily the most famous Singaporean food, globally. I’d also like to try salted egg yolk crab, is it as good as chili crab? I watch another CZcams creator who is from Singapore, so I’ve seen some of your more famous foods in their videos. But they mostly do content of the other ethnic foods you can find while in Singapore…so again, thank you for your recommendations. ✌🏻🥰😊
@@melissadunton3534 salted egg yolk crab is alright but I prefer their black pepper crab more as it has that oomph from the spice. To be honest with you, all of the food is really good! And make sure to try the hainanese chicken rice too
he intro exotic food.....
@@jamesmckinnon9312 thanks! I will 😊
@@melissadunton3534 Salted egg yolk crab depends on how the chef cooks it, some of the sauces are wet while some are like of a sandy texture (dry?). Salted egg yolk flavor was a huge trend in Singapore, you can try Irvin's salted egg chips or fried fish skin (It's a local brand, i think there is one store available in the airport). Hope that helps!
Hi Sonny, great video. Fun and interesting as always Ahhh peace
Just about time sonny, I was looking for some new vids about sg street food 👌
Yummy all the dishes looked delicious and amazing !!!!
Thanks for allowing us to share these culinary delights, even though vicariously.
Dude, so glad to finally see you in Singapore. Enjoy your stay and food here.
Wow 😯
As always great food video !!!
Love it 😍
welcome to singapore!!!!!!! excited to see what you are here to show!
Who'd have thought that Sonny and Mark Wiens would be in Singapore AT THE SAME FREAKING TIME?!?!?!?
I am Singaporean and I've been watching your channel for ages. Glad you see to enjoying our local delicacy. Hope you'll visit Singapore again soon!
All the food looks so delicious , thanks you for sharing ❤️❤️😋😋
Everything looks so mouth watering 😩🤤
That braised pork looks sooooo good. Though I've never tried fried fish skin before. I'm gonna try that when ever I catch a fish again. Always great vid Sonnie.
Fried fish skin is super tasty!
Fried fish skin is actually really good, if you like the crispy skin on a salmon you'd definitely love it
Pork trotters are super normal really and they are DELICIOUS!!! I love eating them in Bangkok.
I love your videos, the food always look amazing!
I love how you love these very unique foods.
the congee brings me back many memories of eating in a market in HK with my gramps and family, super yummy. Loved the braised foods
From Uzbekistan to Singapore, you're making me salivate and so hungry!
I always come here every time i eat or before i go to sleep. Learning a lot of things all around the world without traveling. One of the important things is I can learn English as well. I love your channel. Never feel boring to watch all episodes. Love from Vietnam ❤️❤️❤️
That was just a pleasure to watch, thank you for taking the time to make it.
I didn't realize this wasn't the main channel until you said something 🤣 Awesome episode. I wish more markets had that many vendors. So much good food to choose from there.

Welcome to Singapore!!!
That is my favorite beef noodle stall in SG🤤🤤
Another great show Sonny
omg Sonny!!! welcome to Singapore!! im so glad you came here, hope you are enjoying/enjoyed ur stay 🫶🏼
Sonny, tendon is not fat. It’s connective tissues & I agree it’s definitely delicious 😋
Sonny ur content never disappoints us...greattttt video

Welcome to my lovely country Singapore Sonny! So happy to see you here! Enjoy!
thanks for sharing.❤❤ I will continue to support your videos with my comments and likes because you deserve it! looks so delicious it's making me so hungry🤤🤤
🎉🎉🎉
Yeap, no skins for us too. 🤭
Absolutely love the stewed tendons, had that growing up, absolutely delicious.
The fish maw is actually rather expensive and you’d see it often during the lunar new year festival, my mum would cook a large pot of shark fin soup but substitute the fin with the fish maw.
Hope you enjoyed Singapore sonny!
Love Sonny always!
Hi Sonny finally get to see you here in Singapore at last. Glad that you enjoyed our unique Asian cuisines.
Singapore is the biggest hub of Asian cuisines. Eat more and make more videos! Glad to see you exploring Singapore 🇸🇬 ❤️❤️❤️
“Hey baby girl, gimme a taste of that Fallopian tube salad” 😩😩🥗🥗
🤣🤣🤣
Finally Singapore content!!😍
Thank you for visiting Singapore. Hope u had a good time!
Damn, I literally was there yesterday before watching this vid. Definitely recommend y'all to go if visiting Singapore!
Welcome to Singapore! Try some kway chap, mee rebus, goreng pisang, rojak while you’re in town.. Enjoy!
These videos always make me hungry
Hi Sonny, welcome to Singapore!! We love you and your show!
The Chinese Soup, you dip ingredients in the fried garlic soy sauce. Awesome. Old cucumber. Normally people don't eat the skin
I for one actually enjoy the second channel more than the main, simply because you care less about getting demonitised on it and let your real humour shine through, which is what I love you for in the first place Sonny. Dad jokes and innuendos ftw, f*** YT politics, you be you Sonny! ❤️
no such thing as carex or demox or realx or shinex or carex or not ore affecx about carex, or hx or etc, say, laux, can sayx, laux etc any nmw s perfx
@@zes7215 did you break?
Omg loving that both Sonny & Mark Weins have recent videos about Singapore!
Thank you for this video
Want more weird food, great production quality btw
Singapore food is yummy 🤩🥰
Aww man, I miss Singapore. Thanks for the memories.
oh yesh! singapore food time~
This old cucumber can last longer after harvest, it has many names in ENG like winter melon/cucumber and belongs to the net cucumbers (skins look like it). Most types can be found in the Himalaya region, it is great in a chicken/other meat soup with cordyceps etc.
Never in my days would I have thought Sunny would eat cucumbers 😅
Welcome to Singapore !!! I have been following your channel for a long time ! Hope you enjoy here !
Thank you for the video! ☺ ♥
Hi Sonny welcome to Singapore!
Old cucumber should be eaten just by the flesh and not with the skin 🤣 the flesh itself has a wonderfully soft and melt in your mouth texture! and I believe that was actually pig stomach that you had along with the fish maw soup, 2 of my personal favourite ingredients to have in soup as well 😆
Looking forward to seeing you enjoy more singaporean cuisine 🇸🇬🇸🇬
I always eat the skin. It’s actually my favourite part 😂😂
You should try chopped up cucumbers (with the skin on) with salt sprinkled over it and drizzled in balsamic vinegar and olive oil or Italian dressing. It’s a great snack for a hot summer day!
I am in the "no skin" faction.
Come to Borneo, the western part of Malaysia. I'm pretty sure you'll interesting food here too
yay sonny welcome to singapore!! Hope you enjoy your stay here
Hi from SG sonny!! Loved this episode! Sad I wasn’t able to catch you in singapore!!!!
Great stuff by the team, so respectful of the Asian food culture for you to call the citrus by its local name: kumquat (金桔)
That’s what it’s called in English
I'm a Malaysian and I've only tried half of the stuff you ate in the video. You're so adventurous and I should perhaps be more open to trying new regional foods as well. Haha!
none of the food he ate is really exotic tbh
I went to China and tried anything that was put in front of me, these were really common dishes there
@@benjaminvanizshotz295 Depends entirely on where you are from.
Welcome to SG Sonny!!! Love ur videos! Hope u enjoy SG! We have a lot of nice food awaiting you!
Amazing food scene video thanks for sharing 😍😊
First time I ever seen someone eating the 老黄瓜 skin, I’m pretty sure you are not supposed to eat the old cucumber skin sonny!! 😂😂
Ya, i was surprised as well , i guess growing up, we were taught to just eat the meat and ignore the skin and this just continued for us as an of cos thing
I can't believe that as a Singaporean, I have not tried some of the food you ate here (especially the fallopian tube haha). Because of you I'm going to head down to try it. Keep up the good content!
Omg!!! Welcome to Singapore!!! SO excited that you're here!!
Love your program ....I’ve been watching many years ago..... you came to Singapore I’m very happy that ..
I’m from Singapore.
Can we all appreciate the fact that Sonny never disappointed us with his content. 👍 🤗 👏
Okay!
In my country we cook that pig wrist with beans and it's one of the most delicious food you could ever eat 🤤
Tasty looking food, great video! Ahhh Peace✌🏽😉
I'm getting through all your videos Sonny. Good stuff ✌
I love fish maw soup!!! Had it while in Oklahoma of all places! I’m not keen on tendon…it’s not the taste, it’s the texture. It does taste good, I just cannot get past the texture as it’s so gelatinous. Idk…maybe with the gravy I’d be able to tolerate it. I must try it if I get the chance. Thank you for the excellent video!!! As always, love your content and love your personality. ✌🏻💕🙂
Hi Sonny, you are not supposed to eat the old cucumber skin.
His witty personality makes the show ;)
Omg Sonny! Finally a Singapore episode! I wish I have seen you there in live action.
Finally recognize a spot. I was there a few years ago. My first real experience with a legit Chinese area so I essentially ordered whatever. Some was really good, some was confusing but I quite sure its because I got food I had no idea what to do with and just attacked it . It was a quiet part of the day so not many of the stalls were open yet.
if youre not sure you could ask, im sure people are happy to help
That food looks so yummy. I wish we could get this type of authenticity in Canada
Have you checked Toronto?
Yeah go to Toronto, Markham, you can get dishes more authentic than in China because they use all the real ingredients
@@philer Singapore isn't part of China if that's what you're implying lmfao
@@nyvlem3184 I am commenting on the level authenticity you can find in Canada
Kum jug in Toronto seemed to have authentic Chinese food.
Excellent episode though, makes me miss Singapore a lot
Of all the food review channel 💕 this channel is the best ❤️
