Really? 2021 will be remembered as a good year for games compared to the microtransaction NFT metaverses that are to come. Hope you like paying hundreds of dollars for rare collectible skins!

This has to be the only time Halo won the fps wars by default because the competition just eliminated themselves

Victory by default, the most unsatisfying victory. Didn't think we reacb the day where video games get participation awards.
But still Halo Infinite is better than all previous Battlefield and CODs.
@@artimuos903 I disagree, Halo inf is good but I'd rather play the games I play when I've burnt out on shooters than I would Halo inf, something I couldn't say about MW2, Halo 3, Halo Reach, BF3, BF4 and MW reboot. Most of the friends I have been playing Halo inf with seem to agree with me and those who don't are currently milking the campaign for everything it's worth, which is good for them but by the time they are up for multiplayer again, well my investment is currently low and only getting lower.
They have sold over 4 m copy of 2042. They won

The Hazard Zone description as "the game mode you only play once, because you got tired of such games a year ago" is so damn accurate.
I remember when there was a HUGE hype for this game once.
Pre-beta hype was real, because of all the trailers misleading people to believe it to be a faithful BF4 sequel.
Then afterwards it was a bait n' switch to hero shooter commericals and cheesy action movie quotes/scenes.
Battlefield isn't mil-sim, but it had it's niche as a sudo-realistic atmosphereic shooter that was less arcade-y/arena-based than CoD. Now it's just an Frankenstein's monster of chasing trends.
@@SkyNinja759 You forgot one important thing: classes made Battlefield unique. There was no other, big game which awarded team play as much as Battlefield did with people working together as medics, SOFLAM+Javelin squads, etc. They cut all of this. :/
But nothing compared to BF3/4 imo. They had posters on the London underground for that game. At least those games deserved them. Great games in a time when PC gaming was accessible for around $500.

I use to play this series so much. Bf 2 and 4 have a special place in my heart. So sad to see what it has become
Out of curiosity, why those two specifically? Bad Company 2 and BF3 came out in between 2 and 4 and are almost unanimously agreed upon to be the best in the series. Not knocking your picks, I’m just wondering
@@ccrimewave bf 2 sort of kicked off the series in a strong way, bringing features that are still around to the game. Though I agree that bc 2 and bf3 are hands down the best. Played them both non stop

@@amunago080 yeah I got BF2 for Christmas back in 2005 and loved it. Online was a little buggy I remember, but I spent tons of time playing it. BF3 is my favourite battlefield though and I remember it (along with CoD4) as the most fun I ever had playing an online FPS

Technical buggeries aside, it's getting harder for these legacy franchises to hide their age. Both COD and Battlefield's best entries are in the past.

If EA would have just made a BF4 clone with all new maps plus redone versions of old maps and just added new tanks/vehicles/weapons then the game would have been JUST RIGHT. It would have made the developers have an easy time making the game actually work on time for release and people would still be happy.
BF4.5, just like how BF4 was BF3.5.
The community would have praised them to kingdom come.

If you ever want to play a game where you essentially feel like a bag of ants surviving in a blender, this is the game for you.
BF:Vietnam (the full game from 2004; not the DLC) & BF2142 are still part of my greatest gaming experiences. Bad Company 1 & 2 were also pretty fun. After that the cracks started showing. DICE used to make great Battlefield games. EA was only the publisher, but their increasing influence on the final product is why the series is at where its at now.
AAA games went from being creative endeavours from passionate people to assembly line products that need to be updated every year to make budget numbers.
I'm not saying all AAA games are garbage, but the formulaic nature encouraged by major publishers has been a disservice to customers. Whether they are chasing gaming trends (PubG/battle royal) or payment systems (microtransactions/ingame stores from mobile/F2P gaming); making sure their game has the right checkbox items that are popular at the moment seems to be their highest concern.
Ea acquired DICE around the time BF2142 came out btw. They started buying shares a few years earlier.
@@TheMsdos25 That's true, but it also means that 2142 spent the majority of it's dev time with EA as only a shareholder. EA didn't fully acquire DICE until Oct 2, 2006 at which point 2142 would have released 2 weeks later on the 17th. Physical copies would have been pressed & packaged and advertising would be in full swing at the time. Which would leave EA little ability to affect 2142's launch state.
Did EA have zero effect on DICE's development of 2142? Doubtful, but it's a far cry from their influence after the acquisition of DICE; now one of EA's "inhouse" development studios.

Ohhh i remember when this franchise was actually fun. Thay was days. When my cousin and i yeeted people with ATV and C4's. Those were the days.
They need to just sprinkle buildings and cover on every single one of those maps, then remove bloom entirely from infantry guns and the game would instantly play better. Make vehicles earn their kills weaving in and out of closed spaces, and infantry able to advance without being in the middle of an open killing field 95% of the time.

You know, i found a screenshot of a bug in the beta where in the hero selection there were options for the original classes, so at some point they actually planned to have the class system. Then this happened,

Battlefield 2 had actual maps instead of fake hallways. Those were the good days.
Ppl always seem to forget how shitty waiting 6 months for maps to be released actually was.. that game was so stale b4 the first DLC. It's almost like they were trying to convince us that buying DLC was better or something.. ;-)
It's Bad Company 2 for me, but BF1 was fun as hell and I loved it.
I still believe that this game was originally designed to be a battle royale, based off of the missing features and the hazard zone game mode
would also explain the specialists more. And the 'similar looking sides' (seems very hard to distinguish between friend and foe)

You should try bf 1943. You have to friend someone to swap sides on new consoles but it's a fun game when you get the hang of it. took me a while.

My favourite and most hated situations in this game was when I was on a skyscraper. The enemy team says nope, and all these hovercrafts just starts boosting 90 degrees upp the wall to get me to that squeaky horrifying version of the battlefield theme. Damn horror game is was it is.

They do watch it - at least I do and try to change things; To be fair, I enjoy hazard zone quite a bit (probably because I get killed a lot in conquest).

When will they work out, all I want from a battlefield in the future is 5 man squads with the old classes. Basically battlefield 3 but with railguns that aren't a op add on. Is that too much to ask? Can we get a game that the Battlefield Friends can be proud of?

Considering the eminent downfall of Activision-Blizzard and EA actually trying to listen for a change 2021 might be the last year of CoD and Battlefield.

This is not unsurprising because it's ea, it's unsurprising because it's dice. The previous games since BF3 were also broken and derided. It's just that this one takes everything up a notch or two.

Well in battlefield 2142 on PC on the Titan game maps people had to work together that was a legendary concept for a game mode.

The most important thing to realize here is that Battlefield V wasn't nearly as bad as people made it out to be - and it only got better. Minus that weird last bit with dollar store Tom Cruise.
Other than the fact that is suffered from a serious lack of new/fun maps to play shitty game flow and underdeveloped ideas I guess it was worth 50% of its initial price which is only slightly more than 2042.
Still better than Vanguard.
