But if you contribute you might get internship offer

Java DSA is good to go if ur goal is only getting jobs in top tech companies or unicorns, go for c++ for competitive coding and hft firms like types 🙏

how we choose a mentor ? for our project
It depends on your interest. First decide which orgs you want to contribute then you will find mentors who are actively maintaining projects in those orgs

It's also open to beginners in open source. Their website says "As a reminder, GSoC 2024 is open to students and to beginners in open source software development that are over the age of 18 at time of registration."

Hey, it took me 1 month of effort to crack GSoC without any open source contribution before that.
