MDT was born out of a single purpose: to provide better value and better accuracy for precision rifles. The first MDT chassis was developed from the ground up based on the needs of shooters.
Our engineers verified every function and feature based on the input from competitive shooters. The end result was a game-changing product called the TAC21 that continues to perform at the range, in the field and in competitions around the world.
Today, MDT chassis, magazines and accessories are still developed the same way.
We collaborate, question and verify our concepts with precision shooters from around the globe to ensure that every MDT product is designed with the same single purpose: to provide our customers with the absolute best product possible. - Zábava
Perhaps the best tripod attachment is the one we made along the way
What tripod attachment are you referencing?
@@jasonspanel7472 the one we made along the way
So wholesome. I'm tearing up, bro.
thats deep man thats deep and so true its not about the shots you dont take its about the support you get along the way
Would like to have seen the reaction of the recoil on the tripods. That would be more important to a viewer of the video than watching a hit or miss down range.
Thanks, it’s good to see a comparison like that. A fourth type of front support on a tripod is to use a simple open cradle type saddle that doesn’t include a clamp like the Pig or Hog saddle. It can be left attached to the tripod and is lighter and about as compact as an Arca head. It permits very rapid transitions like a bag. It’s not as steady as the Arca clamp, but in my experience it’s just as good as the clamp type saddles, and without their expense or any concerns about the types of stocks they’re used with.
If there’s time to use a tripod for front support, I usually support the rear with a set of shooting sticks with a hinged top that is in effect a tall bipod. I hold the top of the sticks against the rifle stock with my support hand. It obviously adds time for the setup and is something extra to carry, but it may be possible to use in some situations. I find the combination to be extremely effective for accuracy at longer ranges. In frequent drills with the sticks at the rear and an Arca clamp on the tripod at front I regularly achieve under 1 minute of angle groups at 200 yards. A friend used that system to take a deer at over 600 yards.
Iike shooting off sticks but there's three not just two?
@@newerest1 The method I use is a tripod at the front with Arca clamp (best) or even an open cradle (not as good). At the rear I have shooting sticks that are like a large bipod (because there are only two legs). The sticks aren't attached to the stock, but I hold one leg against the stock with my support hand. Another method with shooting sticks that have their own cradle at the top is to rest the stock onto the cradle. I tried that for some time, but the setup is difficult to get adjusted properly even on a static target, and it's difficult to recover from the recoil if it's necessary to fire another shot. Just holding one leg of the sticks and the stock together makes all that much easier.
@@johnstewart2011just came back from a deer hunt with some less ideal shooting positions. This is a great idea thank you.
Awesome videos. Keep up the amazing work!
You boys need to have a go with quad sticks!
I am looking for a way to shoot off a tripod with a bag and I was looking at the Mod Dos M.U.B. (which seems very expensive for what it is (a piece of steel with holes in it)
Do you guys think that is best platform to shoot off? n Or is the Grey Ops plate better?
Which bag do you think is best for this? I was looking at the Black Branch Gecko 2 or the Amagedeon Shmedium or OG
THOUGHTS?? (Thank you)
Does the granule sac above the triple base give a better result than the patella
I feel really dumb right now. I'd not been using my tripod for anything but a spotting scope because I saw hog saddles are like $500. I can just slap a bag on top of it! *slaps forehead*
The pig saddle is a bit cheaper
@@newerest1cheaper than a sand bag?
Which clamp on device are you using on your first shots?
Hog saddle has worked well for me, i dont have to have an adapter for each rifle
Hog saddle for traditional stocks
Very helpful! For hunters, have you done any testing using a tripod for front support + pack for rear support? This would probably have to be seated but it would be interesting to compare.
I've used an adjustable 3 stick shooting stick system like the Primos polecat before for standing and found it to be just too much crap to manage. It worked on the range but in the field, nope. If you have your Arca rail close to the mag well, even standing, you can get very steady. If you're low enough to the ground to use a pack, you won't need a rear support unless shooting at very extended ranges. I practiced with my 7mm Mag out to 600 for my once in a lifetime NM Oryx hunt last year and was very confident with the system. I ended up shooting my animal at 325 from the tripod from kneeling with no issues at all. Practice is more important than gear.
@@georgejoy7660 Thanks for sharing. What groups were you getting with a front and rear support vs just the arca at the mag? I always have a tripod, bipod, frame pack and bino harness (both double as rear support) with me at all times in the field.
@@Adam_Bileckyj This is my other you tube account but I wasn't shooting for groups, just using 6" steel at the various ranges. I did use sticks as a rear support some years ago when I shot a cow elk in CO. She was a lasered 760 yards away. I had the front of my rifle on a wooden fence and the sticks supporting the rear. Was very stable and two solid hits did the job. Out west, I've removed my bipods; brush is usually too high for me to use them anyway. My coyote rifle has a Snipepod on it and it works well. I try to be a minimalist these days with hunting, I have a combo bino/rangefinder with an Arca mount on it and I use the Salmon River Solutions Arca rails on my rifles.
Tripods name ?
Good video. Unless you are on a shot timer or clock, all will work just fine.
Valid point, then you need to pick the one your most comfortable with when it comes to competitions
The best one is where ur tripod is a adjustable gear head tripod
So ur shots are more accurate by adjusting the head to aim makimg aiming a breeze without missing
And ur rifle doesn't shake when recoil hits
If ur tripod keeps it in place and steady
but trekking poles with heavy gear ties or double sided velcro crush
What would you recommend for bag fill material? Anything that’s NOT sand would be preferred ha.
airsoft bb's are a nice light option. or rice is easy too
@@Muddyfox47 oooo I didn’t think of airsoft BBs! Thanks
Rice is the best
Poly fill is a good choice. Rice and moisture dont do well in bags.
@@Cristopher1976 poly fill as in stuffed animal stuffing?
RAD!
What attachment is at the eyepiece of the scope? Is that the scope of what?
It's a scope camera . I believe it's the trigger cam 2.1
How about picatinny? Is arca a lotfaster?
ARCA is more desirable since it is very easy to attach to
@@MDTTAC seems so by looking at it. I only have pica right now, but luckily i found a combined picka/arca in the mean time :)
I don’t see any difference between using the arca and the hog saddle they are just two ways of clamping your gun to the tripod.
I prefer arca my self but only because it’s less cumbersome than the hog saddle and everything I have is now arca.
I shoot foxes a lot from my tripod and like how you can hit step away from the gun to scan or range and step back to the gun and it is still ready to rock.
If I was in a PRS match I’d use a bag. Only because of transitions between barricades etc.
Hog saddles suck and are nowhere near comparable to arca
Interesting, I've got a cheap 3d printed saddle, it's ok, wondering whether to upgrade saddle or buy Arca rail to screw onto my stock. Foxing use for exact reasons you state. I'm new to tripod shooting and have found if I clamp further forward it helps to reduce side wobble a bit, that with an improved stance certainly tightened up my groups on paper. For more forward mounting I suppose Arca wins as the rifle is more likely to fall back out of the saddle if too far from the balance point.
Quad sticks rule for stability I've found but you can't let go of it and spot, call etc so that's why I'm so into making the tripod work as best as I can. 👍
Is it worth more to buy a photographic tripod and a rifle clamp or to buy a shooting tripod?
ive tried that - was a mess. just buy once, cry once
Gen 3 trigger stick with a lightweight ball and ARCA clamp. Mini ARCA rail on your hunting rifle as close to the breech as possible. Works awesome
You can, but you get what you pay for. Get something high quality that professional photographers would use, and you’ll be good.
I've tried going cheap by using the telescope and photography tripods I already have. I ended up buying a tripod made for firearms. They take the weight of my rifle and my weight leaning into it a lot better. They also handle the recoil a lot better.
Maybe carrying all that gear arround is suitable for 'shooting' not hunting...certainly not walk and stalk and definitely not backpack hunting in mountains...consider Gen3 Trigger stick with a lightweight saddle?
I have actually gone as far now as attaching/integrating a small ARCA rail on my hunting rifles and instead of a saddle on the tripod using a lightweight mini ball and qd ARCA clamp on my trigger stick. Works like a dream!
From the video, they conclude Arca rail clip in to be the most stable, and clamp wobbly. I find that strange as surely they both have one point of attachment and the ball head and tripod dictates stability. Beyond that it's how steady you can hold the rear of the rifle and keep it still while pulling the trigger. I'm just getting into the tripod thing so I can have my hands free to call and scan etc. made up using vanguard t62u tripod, a 44mm ballhead and 3d printed clamp to keep weight down. (1.7kg total) It's pretty decent but harder to keep steady than my quad sticks.
What most people don’t realize is all the voice recordings for the guy who looks like the Lorax where dubbed in, he actually doesn’t speak English so someone else had to record his lines in post and add them to the video.
You don't read lips very well. They are both absolutely speaking English.
What if I don't have a tripod?
Three sticks, a rock, and a bunch of twine.
Get one haha
How many people hunt with a chassis type of rifle. This video is worthless unless you use one.
Uhhh....its called a hunt 26 chassis?....pretty sure it was made specifically for hunting?
