    I REALLY want one of those XM177 rifles. That's my favorite classic AR pattern/design.

      Same here but, really wish it was a lot more affordable.

      Don't we all? Lol. I would think (hopefully), that given it's through a company as great as Brownell's, you would get what you pay for, though. I still want one, even if I have to save up for a year. Lol.

    Those ar10's are pretty cool

  • @QuentinQuatermass

    All are so nice! I love the 601 clone and may get one. I was Army in Vietnam, 1968 and had the M16A1, so like that one, too. I can't remember seeing a green 601 but they were small numbers in the Air Force and even smaller numbers in the Army. The sleek, slickside, minimalist look of the 1963 601 has really grabbed me and I now prefer it to the Army's A1. Sure wish it was rollmarked Colt/ArmaLite! But Nodak Spud makes excellent retro receivers so I can live with a Brownells' rollmark.
    I wish Brownells had partnered with ArmaLite on the AR-10. It's just wrong to have a retro AR-10 based on DPMS, a dealbreaker as far as I'm concerned. I got the ArmaLite AR-10A Defender a few years ago, a great carbine. It takes the 1950s waffle mags and PMAGs and so does their out of production retro AR-10. They should bring it back especially since it's rollmarked ArmaLite!
    All in all, nice job, Brownells, you've sure got an armful of classics there!

    • @QuentinQuatermass
      @QuentinQuatermass Před 6 lety +1

      I did buy the BRN-601 and am glad I got it when I did because it's usually out of stock now. Sometimes the BRN-M16A1 is OOS, too. These two seem to be Brownells' most popular AR-15 retro models. I love the BRN-601, it's even better than I expected. Sure you can nitpick over minor things but if you could time travel back to 1963 I doubt this rifle would raise that many eyebrows. Most parts are close enough and fall within normal manufacturing variance. People knew of Brownells back then, looking at the rollmark they might just assume Brownells had just started making AR-15s! And even offered a chrome lined chamber and bore before Colt!
      Anyway, well done - a great retro rifle mechanically and appearance-wise (even the mean jungle green furniture grows on you). I hope somehow the AR-10s make appearances in local gun shops, if people could see them in person I bet they would be hard to turn down.

    • @TheBiggestIron
      @TheBiggestIron Před 6 lety +2

      Joey Quiroga a stock AR-10 will out shoot a stock m14, the AR-10 can handle mud better than an m14, the AR-10 is easier to reload, far more modular and weighs less in general. The ar10 is underestimated. Not that the m14 is a bad gun, it's just that in most aspects the ar10 is superior.

      Perhaps you should familiarize yourself with the actual history of the M16. The malfunctions were actually due to a variety of factors such as the government switching the powder used in the cartridges which changed the gas tube pressures which caused malfunctions such as stripped rims which led to double feeds. Secondly someone in upper brass apparently thought it was a bright idea to not issue cleaning kits thinking that the rifle never needed to be cleaned. The M16 was met with much resistance in the beginning because everyone still believed in the "one shot one kill" and "bigger is better" mentality. They aren't performance rifles. They are just tributes to the early line ups that started it all.

      Some people prefer 'old school". Either from Vets who used them in wars long gone, or people who's fathers told stories of their trusty M16, or they are just people whom like the classic designs, but don't want to pay premium prices for 40-50 year old used parts...
      Is kinda the same reason people still like revolvers or 1911s. They shoot, they work, carry on...

    Cool but the reality is that i could get a modern ar10 from aero precision for 1,000 bucks. Way overpriced.

    • @nemo5335
      @nemo5335 Před 6 lety +17

      cool, but the reality is no one gives a shit and these will sell like hotcakes precisely because they're NOT modern "tactical" chairborne ranger rifles

    • @baneofbanes
      @baneofbanes Před 6 lety +3

    • @thegoldencaulk2742
      @thegoldencaulk2742 Před 6 lety +3

      It's a shootable collector's rifle, it's not competing with Aero Precision you goof. Sure, you could probably put your own together pretty cheaply, but what you're paying for is to have someone more competent put together a nicer one. Besides, I don't see anyone else making those AR-10s. If you knew what the originals cost, you wouldn't be talking right now.

      also authenticity, a lot of these parts had to be special made and brownells did the research to keep everything as close to historical specs as possible.
      collectors are a huge market, and given as you can't get the real deal of these rifles, i suspect the brownells versions will sell well as the next best thing.
