When youre living and breathing a financial crisis, and a Labor government tells you they've found a budget surplus

Apart from reducing spending, here’s one solution: every state needs to raise resource rents, then contribute a percentage to a sovereign wealth fund (like Norway did), invest it wisely, then, as Norway does, use the dividends from these investments contribute significantly to funding ‘necessary’ government services.

Agreed. I think build homes AND close the door, at least partially, at least temporarily.

Govt spending is inflationary, so more govt spending equals more inflation...

Australia had the 2nd strongest budget balance as a share of GDP among G20 countries last year, up from 14th place in 2021. I think considering the global backdrop Albo's Cabinet and getting us back in the black twice since the Liberal's were voted out is an achievement. Leading economists have predicted Australia's growth over the next 20 years will be moderate. Other major economies are predicted to decline, except China, Indonesia and India. I'm optimistic 😊

Budget focus on Cost of Living! they are full of crap once again... 10% increase on Rental Assistance, how is $18.82 per fortnight going to help when my rent is $1,120.00 per fortnight??? As a single parent, cant afford to move as I do not qualify under rental agents income qualifying criteria to find a cheaper home, if there was one.

When real world figures are applied, it really does seem that the math stops mathing.
