This recipe is going to overtake others on my list, it's fairly easy and quick to prepare and cook. Just don't forget the kombu technique. Another great recipe chef!

I've made this katsu countless times and I love how simple yet satisfying it is! Sometimes I mix a little mirin with the salt and sugar. Hope I could add some konbu next time for the full experience

I know what i am cooking this week ,now that i have my 226.8grams of Kombu (i got 2 packets and didnt realise they were so big) ,whipped up a Karaage and the tartare sauce from the Nanban recipe last wednesday and was complimented and how nice the chicken was. Wow! 😍 I will try doing this in my airfryer, because if I fry in oil, the whole house stinks for days and there's grease everywere in the kitchen. To much fuzz. Air fryer is clean and simple to use. Just spray oil on the breadcrumbs before cooking.

Great Video! Very informative and very useful, Loved all your videos, I've tried the karaage recipe and it turned out awesome. That brings up a question though, I'm wondering what's the difference between wet brining as what you did in the karaage recipe and this method of just sprinkling the seasoning on the chicken?

Brining makes juicier meats, but too much moisture makes soggy exterior for crumbed foods like this one. That's why👍

Use fresh breadcrumbs is truly the highest level of chicken katsu. But i use chicken breast and brine it with pinneaple juice and marinate with paprika powder, oyster sauce, chicken powder,garlic and blackpepper powder. It turns out really really amazing

What kind of BBQ sauce do I use in this?? is it the regular american bbq sauce, or there is a japanese brand or style of bbq sauce?
My brand is called "Masterfoods"
but any basic BBQ sauce is good jo!!

Is there a spicy verson of Katsu?
To make it spicy, you can add chiles/hot sauce at several stages: in the seasoning mix, in the batter, and in the sauce. Play around until you get a result you like.
add a TBS of cayenne to the flour mixture
