OEM Stihl Screws, Necessary or Not?

  • On critical applications such as a carb mount or a clamshell engine mount, I say Yes! It’s ok to mock up a screw line I did to test the equipment but get the right hardware before you give it to the customer. You may save yourself a call back!
    FYI the Stihl 9022-341-1220 M5 x 0.8 x 48 was $2.49 USD and my dealer got it in one day!

    Like you said ken sir good to help you in a pinch , but to get the right hardware for it to hold it secure with those serrated on there .

    Definitely so on something like this. That vibration takes a toll on these pretty badly. It will not hold on forever without the oem serrations to keep it from backing out. Thanks for the video!

    When ever I scrap Stihl machinery, I save the fasteners as they cost about 80p each. 10 fasteners, that's £8
