@Wolliofficial there's another reactor who was warned to wear a helmet before watching this video. He dismissed the idea, until just before Avi hit that note. He gave up and found a helmet. He still pulls it out for most PTX reactions. He also coined the term "Son of a Mitch!"
But yes, PTX is formed by alien unicorns. You have been Mitch slapped, KO'd, and hit by the PTX 2x4. Pretty sure that you need medical attention by now. 😂

The group’s style is so versatile because they have 5 very unique members who respect each other and it seems like no one specific member is the “lead” controlling the direction of their music and sound and style. PTX is in a league all its own. And Mitch’s voice gets likened to an angel’s voice A LOT. I was privileged to see them perform in Phoenix, AZ, this past September. And yes, they’re better live!❤!❤!❤
Avi broke the sound system and Mitch broke the sound barrier.
Apart from the fact that all their voices are absolutely perfect, there’s no ego trips, despite all the incredible talent. They don’t do covers, they do upgrades. If you watch their Imagine, and the interview that went with it you’ll understand. Scott talks about how they all just accept each other as is, and I truly love that!

I love the contrast between Mitch's highs and Avi's lows! I believe Avi broke the the sound system at this concert. The official video of this is different but fun too. You can see better what parts everyone is doing. Plus you get Avi doing overtones (singing two notes at once). Cheers!

I -think- not sure, but the part where Mitch turns to Avi, just before that when the sound was kind of wonky, I think that was avi's overtone singing there but because of the damage to the sound system it didn't sound quite right maybe?
Kevin had left stage to out cello away and when back stood on left of Scott and you can't really see him but he's there!

At 2:08 in "Did I just get Mitch punched?" Wait for it....This one is different from a lot of what they do but that's what made it so amazing.
Avi did break the sound system. This was recorded on a cell phone so quality isn’t the greatest. Kevin wasn’t there at the beginning as he was putting his cello away from the previous song.
Mitch was feeling the Red Bull for sure. If you watch when he goes off the chain, Scott saw how into it Mitch was and nearly laughed. Although we often wonder, and this is a perfect example, they really are human. It’s fun to see them remind us of that. 😂

I saw them in person last September And I will see them again this September. I always knew that they would sound the same Live as they do studio but to be there in actually experience it put it on a whole other level

They really do an amazing range of material! I'm glad you checked out a live performance. Yeah, Mitch was showing the swag here - the jetlag from the flight and Red Bull in the dressing room helped. I agree with the Pentaholic down-thread who suggested their cover of John Lennon's Imagine (please make sure it's the official video), and if you want another live performance from the Avi era, try Popspring 2016: 3 original tunes and their iconic Evolution of Michael Jackson, all recorded and filmed professionally by MTV in Japan.

Yes Avi broke the speakers. Most speakers cannot handle his power when he goes really low. There are several instances of this happening. I think they had to specify what speakers to use or had to bring their own.
Scott and Kirstin doing all the syncopated background parts, with Kevin just going off, is hard to do in a studio environment where you can do it over and adjust things electronically in mixing. The difficulty of doing this live is about a 20 on a scale of 1 to 10. Crowd noise, sound delays (just a fact with sound traveling through cords and wi-fi) the adrenaline of being in front of a crowd, and anything else that can happen live, this is a whole other level talent and discipline. If any of them get off track or off beat doing this song it could turn into a train wreck in a hurry. I don't think there are too many people, outside of these special five, that could do this and do it that well.

As already mentioned, the thing that makes this sound otherworldly is Avi's overtone singing. This was something that he learned from his college roommate, if I recall correctly (and if I'm wrong I'm sure someone will tell me), but it turns out that the trio and Kevin have learned to do it as well. After I saw that I went looking for a better explanation of how it's done, and I found this tutorial: czcams.com/video/w42DQoZ-z_c/video.html I've played around with it a bit, and it's really quite doable, even though my voice is assuredly nowhere near as good as that of anyone in Pentatonix. I had to take a break from practicing recently due to a cold, but I'm starting back up and there are some people that I'm totally going to wow with my new skill one of these days.
