I increased my drives by 453 yards with this drill and developed two disc bulges, chronic bilateral sciatica and radicular pain (just like Freddie). The extra 453 yards helped on some holes and by the time I've watched a dozen more CZcams videos, each promising another 30 yards, I should be driving it almost half a mile. Needless to say my second shot is usually backwards towards the green I flew with my drive. Soon be in a wheelchair too👍

@@jeffedmundson3934 Exactly. Freddie has enormously wide shoulders. That big primary lever creates effortless speed. Davis Love had to use a lot of height and fast/loose hand action. My comment was a little tongue in cheek but also a word of caution. I speak from experience. Two blown discs and all of the above. Bad backs can be serious (Google Cauda Equina Syndrome the life changing snowboarders injury). Another long hitter who also uses this sort of internal rotation, Cameron Champ, is young and already suffering back issues. So beware unless you don't play much ...

Freddie really releases those hands to the max through impact. And when you add that to how far back he cranks his right shoulder……BOOM BOOM! I know it’s not the modern body release and he does miss both ways because of it but when you have impeccable timing like Fred, it’s a thing of beauty. My favorite swing and who I try to emulate. As usual great video. For me to achieve a lower arc, I have to tuck in the trail elbow (visualize it as a hinge attached to a rotating trail hip) as I pull back the lead scapula (chest to face the sky). The tucking of the trail elbow facilitates the increased trail side bend and dropping of the head behind the ball.

That was fantastic! The swing that got me hooked on this game decades ago. Was so obsessed with Freddie's leisurely looking swing and fading the ball i completely copied it. And I treasure the elegant swing more than ever now the game has become so muscular and unattractive. The current generation makes everything look so mechanical and a whole lot harder than it is. Just want to add one major element to the swing. His *cupped wrist* . I find it is the key to blending everything together. And best of all it really eliminates the dreaded two-way miss. Oh, and hint, it's only leisurely looking, not at all leisurely in practice. You hit it with everything you got. As Freddie said.

One of tell tales is people having to swing super slow not to shank.
I don’t know where the point of failure is. I could fix your shank immediately if i saw it… then you could pick up your swing speed again.
Instead of trying not to shank it… you could really work on other area of your swing.

Great video! Couple things. First, there’s throwers and there’s pullers. Fred is a thrower. Figure out what you are. Second, when Fred comes down and in from the top, he isn’t laying the club off. He has the shaft working on same plane. Very important to understand this. Do not try this move and lay that club off pointing your left wrist at the sky unless you want to hit shanks all day. Just my two cents

He has a big lateral shift I suspect that is where a lot of his force is generated that and suddenly breaking that force with the lead side. His left leg looks to be key in his force production.

Before copying Fred's swing,be careful because he has had back pain for years, requiring surgery.

freds swing always looked very upright and handsy like he's throwing the clubhead at the ball which seems to go against most of the modern day teaching of more body pivot driven swing, but maybe that is an illusion.

Whats modern day teaching? Who’s teaching it?
And who’s a example of the modern day swing or release?
Couples has one of the best hand motions i’ve ever seen.
Amateurs don’t use their hands enough. Partly die to their talent level and partly because they believe it’s a mystery modern day body release that no one can show me.
Most amateurs are lost in the belief that a dynamic active hand motion is “ Handsy”
Effortless power comes through the hands.

Speaking of illusions… he also said that he tries to hit his driver as hard as possible. He’s just perfectly sequenced so he looks silky. Alan
