  • The Allalinhorn is typically described as the second “easiest” 4000 meter peak in the Swiss Alps, next to Breithorn. It’s part of the Mischabel range, a range that arcs in a semicircle around the infamous town, Saas-Fee. The normal Allalinhorn route is a very popular climb due to its accessibility from the Mittelallalin mountain station, and its non-technical route. Despite it being less technical than most 4000ers in the Swiss alps, there are still large crevasses in the area and crampons and roping up is recommended. This is a great first 4000er if you are new to mountaineering/hochtouren, and I’d highly recommend it!

    Just watched this again. Those crevasses are crazy!! I can’t wait to get into mountaineering so I can start doing stuff like that. Also it’s crazy to me how many people there are out there! Really does make you appreciate the remoteness of Colorado. Looks like a darn awesome adventure!

      Right?! And this is one of the easiest 14ers here... lol. And the crevasses are obvious so I cannot imagine going to another mountain and risking going into crevasses that are way bigger and hidden! I agree, what I really miss about the US is the wildnerness, you really cannot get away from humans in this tiny little country.

    Looks awesome!! Can you do this at any age or do you need extra oxygen at some point?

      Thanks Patrick! Nah, I think if you were healthy and young without pre-existing conditions (like asthma, or maybe if you are very susceptible to altitude sickness) then it's not so bad!

    Hi! I would like to ask some questions. First do you remember how much does the single or return ticket cost to the lift and the train? My second question is do you know which is the earliest time when the first lift goes to the top? And in the end i would be greatful if you could reccommend an actual site where I can find informations about it.

      Hi! The return ticket is not cheap, for people without a Half Fare or a GA it costs 75chf. If you stay in certain hotels or get a metro plus card it costs 45chf RT. I got it for 36chf RT as I have a GA card. For the earliest train, I'd call the saas fee cable car and ask. The website will tell you the first cable car is 7:15am, but in reality we took the "mountaineers cable car" which started at 6 or 6:30am. I can't remember. Again, I'd call them to ask about this.
      Here is the site:

    You got to the top of the Allalinhorn and didn't show footage of the surrounding mountains, Matterhorn, Dom, etc, which was surely the point of the exercise, to see the views! This video was all about me, me, me on camera! Very poor!

    • @VivOffGrid
      @VivOffGrid  Před 3 lety

      You're totally right, I completely forgot to do that! The point of the exercise was really to get in technique and practice/training in the mountains, and we enjoyed the views on the ridgeline rather than on the summit as it was too crowded (and it IS still covid times), so we didn't stay there long. I was also shy about vlogging next to strangers on the summit. Also, of course it was about me, me me on camera. It's a vlog after all :p.This was my second YT vlog EVER, so please consider being kinder to those you don't know. Constructive criticism is better than being rude.

      Stating fact is not being rude. I could of said, viewing the mountain views from the top of the Allalinhorn would be far more enjoyable than watching your and your friends faces, but I didn't. Funny how some people find the truth hard to accept.

      @VivOffGrid  Před 3 lety

      You might have missed my first sentence. I said “you’re totally right”. Which means that, yes, I agree with you that maybe I should have filmed more of the views rather than enjoying it with my own eyes. So yes, I did already accept that truth my dear. You could also watch other videos rather than mine too, you know. But trolls will be trolls. ✌️
