This is by far the best Reverb G2 | DCS settings video on CZcams. Criminally under subscribed. Although I settled on different settings to yours, you have provided the best baseline to begin tweaking from for your specific taste / hardware platform. Thanks a heap.

      Hello Blue :)
Thank you so much for the kind words !
It's funny with each update ... After each DCS player establishes their settings baseline , the adjustments are not so challenging , although at first it is very intimidating and time consuming 😱.
Once we are all there , that's where the fun begins 😍

I share in the sentiment of appreciation for this video-Greatly.
My only suggestion is when you talk about each setting move your mouse around whatever setting you are on for a visual indication of what you are talking about-Would help a lot with following along and not having to rewind to find what setting you are on.

Thanks for the information - I am running DCS with OpenXR with the MT client, but many of these tips were helpful regardless. I have spent quite a bit of time trying to optimize my G2/DCS VR setup. The biggest piece of advice I could give everyone is to start with everything default. Play one of the "Free Flight" missions, and note your latency and FPS. Make single adjustments at a time, take notes, and keep working to find the right combination. Also note that, when using things like the OpenXR toolkit and OpenXR Tools for MR, many of the settings across those and DCS can interfere with one another. I ended up with a mess, haphazardly following every post to "check this" or "uncheck that". I run with my 4080 at 125% rendering resolution and NO antialiasing, which makes for a good, clean visual quality and smooth framerates. If you can render it at a higher res and scale it down, that has its own AA effect.

      Welcome to EGGRO VR !
I couldn't agree with you more .. I feel that everyone that is having a hard time optimizing their settings , should step back to default and slowly adjust each setting to find the sweet spot ...and Always keep tabs on the results of said adjustments .
I've recently upgraded to the 4090 and was able to bump up WMR Render Scale to 120% and a few other adjustments to maintain a stable 90 fps using OXR as well .
      Good luck Mike :

Great video. Completely agree with your views on OpenXR vs SteamVR. Flying Warbirds & Helos mostly, with a G2, 3080Ti, i7-11700K & 64GB RAM, & the awful artifacting that's caused through the rotors & props with OpenXR is a complete deal breaker for me. Like you I tried absolutey everything in OpenXR & no ,matter what I did, I couldn't get anything as smooth as when using SteamVR. Your settings though, has helped my SteamVR setup even more. I can now even get acceptable framerates in VR on the channel map so many thanks to you.

In my G2 the sweet spot isn't great, when I look sideways with my eyes alone I can see the drop in how clear the image is, therefore I have to move my head more just to keep the thing I'm looking at as clear as possible.

hey man thanks for this awesome vid. Do you think i will be able to run the hp g2 and get a enjoyable experience, now that MT is out? I’ve got a i5 12600k paired with a rtx 3070ti and 32gb ddr5. Im quite a bit worried about the 8GB vram situation, upgrading for now would not be an option, maybe when the 50 series cards come out, or the 4080 drops significantly in price. This would be my first Vr headset, and im on the fence of ordering it.

      @eggrovr2733  Před rokem +1

      Hello Arian and welcome :)
Yes I definitely think that you can run the G2 and very much enjoy the experience in DCS VR with your specs !
A lot of the people that I speak with have very similar specs to yours and report that everything runs just fine albeit with 8 GB of VRAM, you are somewhat limited in terms of running high settings...which the G2 with it's high resolution helps to smooth that out in terms of visuals / clarity.
In terms of the MT update , so far in my experience , this SIM is running better with regards to GPU / CPU latency with the settings provided in this video.
Ultimately the choice is yours alone , and I can only say that the switch to VR ...for me was completely game changing for DCS .
You just may have to make some micro adjustments to your settings to pair nicely with your Rig , as the settings provided in this tutorial , was on the RTX 3080 ti and is pretty close to your specs .
      I hope that helps 👍

Hey, great vid. Followed your steps and truly got stable 90fps even on South Atlantic in f16 low level flying. Running the G2 with 5600x and 3080, 80gb Ram.
Did however not like the visuals in steamvr, smooth though. So sat couple of hours tweaking with OpenXR, at first I completely agreed with you. (Also im on MT now which helps). But managed to find a sweetspot with my rig in OpenXR based on your steps in the video. Now its crystal clear and smooth as butter, no artifacts nor stutter. Can get it drop some frames when flying helo at 30ft manouvering like airwolf (can't wait til we get the official Airwolf module).
So what I did was in short:
Putted the resolution to 115% with the slider. Then in OXR toolkit I putted to 2160 per eye. Activated fov rendering to Performance. Other than that just like you.
Motion reproject off (didnt like the visuals from the spinning rotors).
This was magic for my rig.
So a big thanx for you guidance!

I was able to get some time in the F-14 last week and my opinion has not changed with regards to SVR ...so far , although for others it seems to be fine using SVR with a few minor bugs using an overlay ( FPS VR ) which will mostly only affect content creators to share said overlay .
Other than that , I believe this is and will be a welcome addition to the DCS community and one of many anticipated updates yet to come .

What's interesting to me is that my experience with steam vr is quite the opposite from yours and we have almost identical systems. 3080 with 12700k. I moved to open xr months ago and have never looked back. My only standing issue currently is the stuttering when looking left or right out of the canopy.

      Hello and welcome Bryan :)
I thought it was a bit odd too considering when I tried both FSR / NIS results were very similar to one another , while CAS looked absolutely incredible which yielded even worse CPU/GPU frame times but looked the best that I have experienced in DCS VR so far.
I too was having the stuttering when looking around but I no longer experience this with OXR disabled and primarily run Steam VR ...for now . if you have watched the entire video , I shared both OXR overlay and FPS VR Overlay to share real results .
If you have not tried DCS Steam VR in a few months , maybe give this guide a try and see if the stuttering is resolved ...what is there to lose ? I for one do not tolerate stuttering gracefully and you should not have to just accept bad frametimes aka dropped frames = stuttering.
      Best of luck

      Hello and welcome :)
I am terribly sorry to hear of this issue that you describe.
Have you tried a restore point in Windows and check for possible updates ? ( GPU Driver update / Windows update ect .
Also in the past Hags was an issue for me so I usually turn that off ...even with the latest updates from DCS , I still find that having Hags off works best.
Also what are your HW specs ? Is your network connection stable ?
The reason that I ask is that this guide has not only worked well for others , but I still use this guide myself to fall back to a stable starting point .
I have run into issues in the past with corrupt GPU drivers , and had to use DDU to uninstall and reinstall GPU drivers but I suspect that this is not the issue here .
Maybe try relaunching the SIM and using Task Manager to check your system resources and behavior ( GPU utilization and VRAM usage / CPU utilization / Ram ect .
If your HW is anything like mine , you would be much better using my most recent DCS VR settings guide which is more up to date with regards to MT and OXRTK which definitely would work very well for anyone using an RTX 3080 or AMD equivalent GPU and up .
Please let me know as to your situation and improvements if you are able to remedy this issue or if you still are having these problems and I would be more than happy to help you to resolve the problem ...but please share system specs and what you have done so far to try to resolve this .

Do you have Windows Mixed Reality for Steam VR ?
I do not use the Stand Alone version of DCS so I have never had this issue , but from what I think is that WMR for SVR is still needed to act as the bridge between your HMD and DCS in order for the sim to run in your HMD .
I know that sounds off / having to use WMR for SVR to launch the non Steam version of DCS but I think that may be your issue .
If so just download Steam and search for WMR for SVR and click download .
Also from within your DCS settings ,
click the VR tab @ the top right and check the box - open in VR .
Launch Steam VR / WMR for SVR and then Launch your DCS.exe and your Sim should launch in your HMD 👍

Man, I need to get to tweaking, I suppose. I recently upgraded my CPU to a 14700KF and am still running my RTX 4070 and 32 GB of DDR4, but when I fired up DCS in VR the other night, I got a measly 60 to 65 FPS just sitting on the runway in the A-10 II GAU-8 tutorial mission. That was using the default "VR" profile and 80% res in OpenXR. I did manage to get IL-2 to run pretty great on this rig at 90 Hz (solid 90 FPS 98% of the time, even in single player mode), so I don't want to have to switch back to 60 Hz for DCS. And I'm not even sure I want to run it in VR, since I noticed that with my settings, reading the text on the A-10's HUD was near impossible, no matter how much I leaned forward... :/

      Hello there,
If you use my latest guide ... you can easily achieve 90 FPS and stable, with that Rig , with some headroom for micro adjustments.
In terms of visability to scope your mfd's , that should also be no issue.
I just recently upgraded my HMD with prescription lenses by Hons VR , and the difference is night and day, at least for me ... to see my entire cockpit so clearly is mind blowing!
That is if you are in need of Prescription Lenses / Glasses , then the upgrade is a no brainer.

Gotta admit that I hadn't tried DCS in VR before because I'd heard that it was a bit of a mess until recently. Not sure about the glasses thing... I do need reading glasses these days for small-ish text, but other than that, my eyesight's fine. This ain't news I think, but when I switched from the Rift-S to the Reverb, I did/do notice that the lenses on the Reverb do have a very pronounced sweet spot - according to other G2-users I know, this is normal with this set. Not sure if there are aftermarket-lenses that would cure this.

      @eggrovr2733  Před 6 měsíci +1

      @1SaG Hello there,
I am absolutely positive that my latest guide will get you fired up!
From there as a baseline, you can then make micro adjustments that will help you to achieve better results, based on your particular Sim Visual Preferance.
The guide will provide a very stable 90 fps based on your RIG specs.
If you are farsighted, then I do not think that Prescription lenses will be of any benefit though.
Sadly, the only way to accommodate the small sweet spot on the G2 is to remove the Facial Interface Lense Spacer and get your eyes as close to the lenses, which will result in a wider FOV.
With that resolution @ 2160 × 2160 Per Eye, this Sim looks fantastic!

I was at a squad meet a few months ago where one of the guys had brought his brand new 4090/Pimax Crystal setup and he hadn't optimized his IL-2 settings yet. It ran great in MS FlightSim but when we fired up IL-2, that game ran worse than it does on my much less powerful rig. 1280 x 1440 per eye .
The G2 is a pretty demanding HMD and with regards to your system specs , I would maybe consider lowering your Render Scale in OXRTK to play well with your H/W and try dlss / performance / Turbo Mode On
      Cas @ 50 % / Textures Med - low

The aliasing around the clouds and the edge of my FOV paired with unstable frame times resulting in stuttering and mostly sub-par visuals are some of the reasons for the switch to SVR .
As I have mentioned , I have tried nearly everything and settings in OXR / Cas plus all settings available and as for Nis and Fsr ...the same process 😒
