Bayverse was my childhood and my introduction to Transformers, but I adore how Prime in this movie is much more fleshed-out, expressive, has more depth, and has an actual character arc. I'm not surprised this is the only movie where Peter Cullen looked genuinely honored and happy to be part of it.

This is legit the happiest he's ever looked.
He said Bayverse Prime's lines made him uncomfortable, and that he hated how they treated him on the Bumblebee film.
Whereas for ROTB, he went out his way to say that Steven Caple Jr. is a good director who's a joy to work with.
He has his character arc in this one bc this movie goes back in time to their first battle with Unicron since The Last Knight left off with what is assumed to be Unicron rising again out of the earth as he is earths core. It’s most likely to set the plot for a modern day battle with Unicron in a future movie.

Surprisingly I liked his character in this more than I did in the bayverse. I liked how he was depicted as a more young leader and kinda grumpy

"I never should've taken us so far from home" has to be one of my favourite lines from rotb
the fact that he admits his regret out loud gives so much to his character (especially as a leader)
ROTB Prime was like if Bay Prime was actually written like Bay fans claim he was.
He actually was tired and blamed himself for the Autobots predicament, with him being more violent then normal being the intention of the writers (rather than an offshoot of "make be robot do cool boom boom" like before) while allowing Prime to still able to offer mercy to his enemies rather than taking off heads as a first resort like with Transit.
Two things, one: you didn't need to explain. I read "rotb prime is like if bay prime was written how bay fans claim he was" and immediately understood😂 two: are you saying he didn't show transit mercy or that he did?
@@bullet_outsmarter_5000I think he’s saying how optimus showed transit mercy, he gave him multiple chances to surrender and be spared, even when he was forced to kill him he made it quick and relatively painless.
There's nobody out there doing it like Optimus. So glad that they actually gave him a character arc in this film.

His chatacter was so so great in this movie, and I thank this video for summing-up why. He's broken, he's sad, he's out of hope, hes not like he was in Bumblebee because at that point he still thought there was hope, 7 years far from home and near zero chances to come back, it changes you. To quote primal "he's not the optimus prime I imagined" cause he ain't him anymore, he has to learn again to trust people and to look foward

ROTB is one of my favourite Primes. Seeing how he changes his view on working with humans and maximals, perfect. Him regretting outloud that they shouldn't have left cybertron, even more perfect. Need more of this

Peter Cullen said that when he was to play Optimus Prime in the G1 Cartoon, he quickly told his brother Larry Cullen about the news. He said to him that he was going to play a Truck, and a Leader of the good guys fighting a war. His brother, a Marine himself, got very serious and told Peter "If you are going to play a leader then play a strong leader, but be strong enough to be gentle". So Peter Cullen based Optimus Prime on his Brother Larry Cullen and the rest is history, and this is why THIS live action Optimus IS the BEST compared to the last 2 Bayformers' version. Cause one could argue that the essence is still in the first 3 Bayformers films, but that was thrown out on the last 2 and Peter himself was upset with Michael Bay basically pressuring Peter to say violent lines from Optimus, not when in his Nemesis Prime state.
This is a great tribute to Optimus Prime, Peter Cullen and his late Brother, Larry Cullen. 'Till all are One!

This was a Phenomenal Masterpiece The for Transformers Reboot Films Version of Optimus. I absolutely love That They Finally Brought Optimus Prime G1 Design to Live Action. I will Grateful to Peter Cullens Dedication to Optimus Prime he’s 82 years old and he still Voicing This Character. I can never see Peter Cullen Retiring from Voicing Optimus Prime and I feel like he’s going to Voice Optimus Prime until The Day He Dies.

It's actually occurred to me that I now remember that Unicron is a multi-versal threat. Able to go to different universes at will. He has the knowledge from other universes as well. So in a way, this Unicron might actually know about the Bay Verse himself.

OMG, this is so beautiful! The movie failed to show Optimus Prime's character arc properly in ROTB and you literally showed it and made it better. I love it! Optimus Prime is my hero and my favorite character and I'm very happy that you used the, 'show and don't tell rule' for this Optimus Prime edit. You have inspired me to make my own Optimus Prime edit. Can I ask, where did you get the clear dialogue audio for Optimus Prime speech at the beginning of this edit? I know it's part of the Transit fight deleted scene but where did you get the clear audio dialogue without the background music?

Honestly I wasn't a fan of how he seemed less mature and stoic in ROTB than he did in DOTM, but they still kept that hint of the bloodthirsty Prime in his interactions with Scourge which I loved. Also can anyone explain what is cannon anymore in the live action film universe. Like did Bumblebee meet Charlie and Optimus meet Noah before they both ever met Sam?
This is a reboot, the Bayverse is a separate continuity

I both appreciate and enjoy seeing him grow into the gentle giant of a leader we know, while being a powerhouse of a fighter amongst Cybertronians,
and am also annoyed that we finally get to see Prime on the big screen again for more than 6 minutes after so long, and it's a version that isn't yet the character I love so much. He isn't as powerful yet, he isn't as calm and gentle, not yet that perfect role model type character. I want him back.
Bumblebee's Prime portrayal, although 7 years younger than this one, somehow was more powerful, calm and just more like the Optimus I know than this rendition. The only explanation I have for that inconsistency is that 7 years on our planet is enough to reduce any great person LOL
Optimus is trapped on the planet that invented twitter, thats more than enough reason to get grumpy 😢
I never saw it as an inconsistency really, we saw him for way too short of a time to really decide that and half of it was in battle, you aren't going to see those traits then and the little bit we saw on earth they had renewed hope since Bee succeeded in saving earth and some of the Autobots had escaped. Both situations aren't good opportunities for seeing a person/bots normal personality.
