I spend a week with the Widebody version of the 2020 Dodge Charger Scat Pack to see what it's like to live with. The short answer is it's a lot of fun of course, but it's not all perfect. Nevertheless, Dodge is the only company offering a V8 sedan for a reasonable price these days, so if you want to buy a new 4-door V8, this is really your only choice unless you want to spend double the money. This one's as-tested price is $58,710 with lots of unnecessary and expensive options, but you can easily get one of these under 50k well-equipped. What do you think of the Charger Scat Pack Widebody? Thanks to Dodge for providing this car to review!

Everybody hates dodge’s until they step in to the driver seat and get lit
@Christopher Laughlin I agree with you that anybody can do it but the fact is no one is doing it but Dodge right now. You gotta appreciate that!
Ford has the best interior and technology.
@Christopher Laughlin ur paying for muscle, not technology
@Christopher Laughlin I had an ecoboost. While fun with a tune, definitely not reliable.
@Christopher Laughlin One car?! Ok, I’ll give em one
The wide body package is an absolute bargain for what you get. It’s the best $6K you can spend. Fender flares, 305s on 11” wide wheels, adaptive suspension, SRT modes and performance pages, 6 piston Brembo brakes on 15” rotors. The WB package transforms the car.
Lol I just made the same comment.

What do you do for a living
I own a Scat Pack WB. Special ordered mine and got it in January. IF you think the exhaust "drones", NOT the car for you. For me its..music ALL of the time. Stomp it, it is LOUD, but cruising around, the soundtrack is classic muscle car and is very quiet on the highway with the cruise ON. Really don't get the "jumpy" throttle comments which "testers" cited regularly. I drive mine in a custom drive mode with the transmission set in "track mode" ALL of the time with zero issues, whether that is putting sedately through parking lots, traffic, whatever. Just a question of what your..used to I guess. Tremendous value in today's car market. Many overlook it because of the HC. Fine by me, if you KNOW, it's amazing fun..ALL time. Tip, car sounds ever better with aftermarket headers an the factory exhaust. Every single time I drive mine, I enjoy it and it's my escape pod from everything life throws out to stress you. Legit muscle car with NONE of the vices of the "old days". Tires are junk, but easily fixable with a set of Michelin Pilot Sports. Phenomenal car for the person who just enjoys..driving. Dodge KNOWS who they built this car for and WE LOVE IT! Thank you Dodge!!!!
Thank you.
The power delivery on these is amazing, dyno sheets show that they are at peak torque during the whole RPM range and the horses kick in on the top end so you're always on the power no matter what gear.
I miss my cammed 392. The torque on those motors are unreal for an NA.
@@RidingWithBobby I need food drive one
Please remember that the Widebody package contains MORE than just tires. It also has the flared fenders, Brembo 6 piston front, 4 piston rear brakes with much larger rotors, different wheels (Devil's Rim from Hellcat or Carbon Black), the competition suspension, and the adaptive Bilstein dampening shocks. So, you do get a lot more for your $6k than just tires :)
Love the sound of that 6.4. One of the best sounding engines of this era. MPG is about right. Shes a heavy thirsty girl.
If you baby her on the highway you can get 20 plus mpg
They are thirsty, if you go easy and drive normal, you’d be surprised by MPG. But who gets one for that boring sh-t...?
@@vincealince_SRT haha. Exactly. My S550 GT with some bolton's got about 25 on the hwy.
@@gigatron2008 not bad at all, I bet that thing sounds mean.
@@vincealince_SRT thanks it was decent. Borla Stype exhaust. Saving for a Viper :)
I have a 2020 Scatpack non wide body; about 8000 miles; absolutely love this car; I’ve owned a lot of cars; German and Japanese sports sedans; and this car might be the best. With the rebate; I only paid 40k; for that price it’s an absolute steal for the performance.
Exhaust sounds great. (Added a Focal subwoofer to stock alpine system and it now is a fantastic sounding system; so I can drown out drown lol)
Drive modes makes car have many different personalities, family sedan to sports car.
I get 21mpg daily driving which includes both highway and in town, every day. On one summer trip 5 hours away; setting cruise on speed limits and using eco mode; I got 28 mpg highway.
All in all, great car!!!!
Only complaints: I wish it had full leather seats (not offered) and the dash design looks very dated. Alcantara is just a slightly better version is the suede seats economy cars had from the 80s and 90s. Lol. I assume the next generation (rumored to be 2022-2023) will be more modern.
Conclusion, to me, this car rivals the best German sports sedans on the market for 20k less
While I like the looks of the wide body; it’s simply not worth the cost; I could have bought either one and I’m not at all disappointed I didn’t spent the extra money
So there is a drone? Because Matt is the first reviewer who mentioned a drone and I've watched sooo many videos on scats. Nobody talks about it.
Test drove a 2017 392 Daytona and didn't notice any drone there myself on the highway.

I'll definitely pick it up and do as u advised

I’ve got this car, now for about 90 days.
I drive very spirited. I have gotten about 16 mpg combined.
Taking a long highway trip with my wife in a few weeks. With her telling me “slow down!” I’ll be able to see if I can get over 20 for the highway stretch.
Love the car. Got f8 green. It just begs you to go fast, but is very competent at all speeds.
Oh, and the Harman Kardon sound system sounds great.
What are some of your assessments when driving this vehicle for 90 days? What are some things that stood out that you weren't necessarily expecting?
Great review! I picked up my WB 392 Charger in August and I'm absolutely in love with it. Car handles way better than it should, and is a blast to drive. You can't help but laugh and smile every time you get on it!
I have one also and your exactly right. Stupid grins..every time.
Scatpack Charger is my dream car, I don’t care if it’s wide or narrow body I love them all!
The widebody package is worth it in my opinion also because of just the look of it. I see narrow body Chargers everyday, but widebodies are much more rarer at least where I live. I've only seen 2 or 3 others around here including mine.
Best car I've ever owned. My previous best was a BMW 335i with 480 hp. Even though the Charger SP WB has lower power to weight ratio, it feels stronger. And the Charger has Adaptive Cruise, which makes it a fantastic daily.
After watching this video I made my decision and I'm fully committed to getting the charger widebody scatpack
You know that Soap opera effect in some tv shows and some CZcams videos...I personally see it everytime I encounter a mopar on the street. Like the way it turns and accelerate are just so damn smooth!!
Always love your reviews, thanks. My 18 Challenger ScatPack gets about 20-ish mpgs with mixed driving, and about 17-ish if just in town - freeway is mid 20's...but yeah, if you are always romping on it it will get in the low teens. And it runs high 11 seconds on the 1/4mi in DAs
I see muscle, I give thumbs up without even watching.
Widebody charger looks so good better than the WB Challenger IMO
Man the Charger Scat Pack Widebody must be a hoot to drive🔥

Nice review. I love my 2016 Scat Pack. I usually average between 15 & 18 mpg in daily driving. On trips it actually does pretty well...highway mpg is much better. If you like big, comfortable, muscular cars, you'll love the scat.
How many miles on it?
Great review, Matt. You have a very entertaining channel. Glad you are as good natured as you are. God bless
Put some pilot sport 4's on that. Will make a huge difference.

That body is literally the definition of beautiful
Love the new split screen stuff, Matt.
I daily my 2020 scat, and get 17.5 mpg average. But I’m probably not on the throttle as much as other people. It scares me sometimes. Lol
You lucky. My avg on my challenger was 13mpg lol. But I did go sideways often
@@AntilleanConfederation yeah it’s dropped a lot in the year have owned it. Lol

This spec on this Dodge charger widebody is the baddest I have ever seen on a charger widebody
i just wanted to let you know the quality of your videos has really gotten great
Thank you! I'm glad you think so!
I've been in the market for a used Non-Hellcat Durango Srt for 5 months. I really cant stomach paying 6-7k under msrp on a 3 year vehicle. I passed a Dodge dealer today on my way home from work and saw a widebody charger,so I dropped by to check it . I Am Sold on buying it. I can't believe the bang for your buck that you get, compared to the compition
Great review- you look like you're having the best time driving this thing! Makes me want one.
Well I get 13 mpg in my navigator so I won’t notice it lol
Same MPGs as my truck...lol.
Slap an after market MagnaFlow X-Mod exhaust on to eliminate the drone issue would be my sollution
Scatpacks are now in the $60k+
Dealers have added $10k for current Market Demand.
I saw a 2021 Skatpack with 1,000 miles
Pre owned for $70k like wtf
And no more orders on widebody Skats
Can't wait to get my paws on one of these. I think the reviewer struck the nail on the head with the nothing else like it bit. Personality.
Fun.
Unapologetic.
My current charger has some of those but the scatty just cranks it up! Don't think I'll be able to afford the WB, maintenance wise...hrm.
No drone sound coming from mine. So I’m good.
Yep. Tires make a huge difference. The factory all season tires aren't great.
Just ordered my wide body scat! Frostbite blue color, can’t wait. It’ll be ready in 3-4 months😩😩
Agree. The Scat Pack non-wide body is a great car. Fun and full of character.
I tested a Scatpack wide body Challenger. The droning at moderate speed on the turnpike is quite annoying. It is a real issue and when you drive this for long periods it’s a real problem. The only way to stop it is to drive slower air blast the radio. Maybe a six cylinder is better. Or maybe a 5.7.
Only a sad excuse for a man would turn down a v8 for v6 because of “droning” do your widdle ears hurt 😢
Highway driving helps due to the 4 cyl. mode. the 305s don't help. I am on 275s and have been averaging 25 on the highway, about 19 in mixed driving. I opted out of the widebody due to the expense. I wanted more interior upgrades instead but didn't want the 245s so I did the Daytona package which gets bigger tires.
Picking mine up tomorrow!
I actually love the drone. That's just me living with a truck with glass pack exhaust with no radio.
I sone hear drone with mine.. i only hear it with modded chargers, muffler delete, etc
Who would have thought... the last n/a V8 sport sedans are from Dodge and Lexus
And bmw..dont forget bmws still have their twin turbo v8 523 hp in the m550
@@ESMorg the Germans and CT5 Blackwing are all boosted V8s and pretty expensive sedans. I can't think of any other naturally aspirated V8s besides the Scatpack and IS500.
I haven't driven the M550i but it sounds great!!!
You would have plenty of grip if you weren't running garbage P Zeros. 😁. Get a set of Pilot 4s or better. Love the review great video.
MAXIMUM DRONEAGE!!
They will drink the fuel if you have a heavy right foot. I get 17 combined in mine. But, my combined is majority city.
Matt with chin hair? Wow this really is 2020 lol
Yessir. Looking very masculine
Yea def want the widebody…narrow bodies dont even come close to beating a widebody off the line and thats enough for me lol more speed is all i need lol
Don't forget about the "4-cylinder mode" aka MDS this thing has to save MPG in eco mode!! I have it and it works good!
Don’t use that garbage. It will prematurely kill your engine.
If I buy a 2020 or 2021 Dodge charger widebody Scat pack this is the spec I am getting hands down gorgeous
1. How well does the radar cruise control work? Smooth?
2. With an all white exterior, what color looks the coolest for tire lettering fill-in?
3. If you live in an area as bad as me (SoCal), how bad is insurance? I have AAA, with a completely clean record.
4. How good/nice is the infotainment system?
Thanks to all who answer these
I’m going to be getting so many tickets when I upgrade to the v8
I have continental extreme dws06+ in 315 on the back of my scat, definitely still loves spinning them on occasion

Its the tire, always been tires when you get the car from dealership. And wheels, 245 on rears on a 480 hp car, should be illegal. Try Continentals extreme DW, or Goodyears top tire.
My scat pack challenger got on average 23mpg mixed driving city driving was never less than 18mpg, but on my trip from Florida to San Antonio Texas I-10 running 80-90mph it averaged 27mpg and on my fuel economy tests I averaged between 31-33mpg it's on my channel!
Man the Scat Pack is an awesome car
I hate how modern cars have the drive by wire throttle control programmed to be so aggressive. It makes the cars more difficult to drive in wet or snow conditions. I can kinda understand it in underpowered little 4 bangers. It makes them feel quicker than they really are. But in a vehicle with all that power there is no reason to make the throttle so touchy. We all know the power is in there. Would it be so horrible to actually push the throttle pedal a little harder to use it? Remember the good old days when the throttle was actually connected to a cable and did what you told it to. Now there are about 6 computer systems that have to receive your throttle input, monitor all the sensors, do some math that would make the guy from Engineering Explained head spin, then decide it want to open the throttle 40% and not the 10% your foot told it to.
So much stupid tech in cars it's insane
I live in PA so I probably shouldn’t daily a rwd car but if I ever move to a warmer state with no snow I would consider a charger skat pack as a daily for sure!
I live in Ontario, and I'm gonna get this and daily it. Only live once gotta enjoy!

I've had it about a month

-torque feels amazing, always feels like it ready to pop off. I really have to watch my speed sometimes I'm doing 110 in 60 km/hr zones and it doesn't feel like it.
-head Turner people love it, respect it. Too many compliments I'm naturally an introvert so it's odd having people just walk up to me..I be ready to fight and they just wanna talk about the car LMAO
-ride is stiff, I don't have adaptive suspension so for a performance car yeah it's gonna be stiff. You get used to it tho
-compared to my 2012 fit and finish is nice...spoiler feels solid, can close the trunk without slamming that bitch LOL.
-drl lights not bright enough at night to run alone, stock halogens are trash gotta switch em out with LED if you don't have HIDs.
-engine sound amazing, cold starts especially. Coming out from work it's one of my fav part of the day.
-brakes are good. Smooth. Strong. No squeal but I have the 4 pistons brembos.
-sound system is trash might be just my unit in particular there's some rattle and it's not very punchy. My 2012 had an Alpine system in it too but didn't sound this bad. It's fine I like listening to the engine anyway.
-downshifts sound lovely, cracks and burbles especially in manual mode...paddle shifting fun.
-3 diff drive modes have noticeable difference it's like driving 3 diff cars.
All that said I still miss my 2012 sxt alot man I loved that car and still prefer the angular design of that generation to the 2015+ ones

the 245's on the standard SP were comically overpowered at any moment. While incredibly fun, get your tire budget $ in order.
