Mackenzie's Song - Fly Away With Me

Mother’s Day May 9, 2021 is also Mackenzie’s 8th birthday. Her paternal Grandma B has vascular dementia and has been living in an assisted living memory care home in Michigan for the past 5 years. Mackenzie’s family lives in Florida and they visit Grandma B nearly every month. Because of Covid restrictions, they have only been allowed window visits. Grandma B is unable to talk or walk, so her illness has decreased her quality of life significantly; however, she can recognize Mackenzie.
Mackenzie only has love for her Grandma B and wishes to take her home with her whenever they visit. Mackenzie feels sad for Grandma B and she wrote a song for her to express her feelings. The song is Fly Away With Me. Her maternal Papa Tim commissioned composer, Connor Warren Smith, to work with Mackenzie’s feelings to complete the lyrics.
