  • How to remove the mixer board on the tascam 244 portastudio 4 track cassette recorder. basically, remove remove the fader knobs (they just pull off), remove the back case (see my earlier video) remove the DBX board then each board comes away with 3 screws and unplugging three cables. It can be useful to detach the red and white master fader cable and if you're removing channel 1 the headphone socket and right of two mounting posts for the DBX board need to come out of the way as well. The 4 strips are identical to each other, so if you have a spare 244, you can remove a working channel from the donor to replace a faulty channel in your main machine.

    Hello Tetrakan!
I just bought another 244, almost new.
It plays all 4 channels well, but 1 and 2 do not record.
I have replaced channels 1 and 2 on another 244 I have and it works fine, but the problem was not resolved.
And the worst thing is that when I reset the original channels to the last one, it no longer plays or records!!
Can you tell me what things I should review?
    Thanks a lot!
    Dan

hey man the tascam 244 i am trying to fix has really scratchy channels and each headphone input sounds a little different, the line outs sound a bit better but the channels are just sounding iffy. anyway i could pay you for a zoom call or something to maybe pick your brain about what may be wrong with the channels or what i could do.
Ive replaced the pinch roller and control belt and got it to play tapes i also bypassed the dbx and everything seems fine. your videos are great. Ive commented before under a different youtube account but anyway thank you for sharing your work.
