    Hey! Nice video. I have one Macbook Pro A1706 (touchbar) that i had dropped coffee on right side of topcase. Here in Brazil, two technicals said thats isn't recoverable. But seen this video and now i have hope, any of cases apparently is it worst that mine.

    I'm loving your videos. Many thanks for sharing. Can I ask a couple of questions please? Did you just ultra sonic the part of the board you worked on and also do you have a video talking about the equipment you like to use?
    Thanks again and happy new year!

      In cases of liquid damage we ultrasonic the entire board to ensure the entire board is cleaned. We discuss equipment we use in a lot of our videos, but we don't have a video dedicated to equipment discussion as of yet. Happy New Year!

      I don't recall your name but thanks a lot for the reply to this and my other question on a different video. Yes I have started to watch more of your stuff and your'e right you do talk about your equipment more. Anyway thanks again and I'm sure I'll have more dumb questions in the future :)

    my 13-inch late 2016 MacBook pro had liquid damage. The touch bar is completely off, I reformatted the machine, it is now stuck on a 'critical update' loop, I am assuming this is because an update that needs to be applied to the touch bar cannot be applied since the touch bar is off. Hardware diagnosis comes back with no issues found, I am also able to boot successfully in safe mode. What do you suspect is the issue, does the touch bar run on a separate circuit that could be fried, is this a part I can buy from you?

      That could be due to the top case or the logic board. Usually that error loop means the system can't detect the touchbar.

    As you mentioned there are two USB C controllers, ones cap was damage and had 5v, not 20. and as owner said: it fails to boot, so what about another USB C controller voltage?

    • @PowerbookMedic
      @PowerbookMedic  Před 5 lety

      They all have the same voltages.. it should be 20v

    I spilled some water on my Macbook Pro two days ago. My computer wasn't completely shut down when it happened (on sleep mode). Next morning I plugged in power to turn on and it won't turn on. I'm wondering if cleaning the board will solve the problem? Or do you think I need to replace any parts?

    • @PowerbookMedic
      @PowerbookMedic  Před 5 lety +1

      It's impossible to say with a spill. Cleaning the board may help, but it really depends on where the liquid went and how long it sat there with current going through it. The sooner you get the board looked at, the better. If you can't find anywhere locally, you can send the unit to us at this link : www.powerbookmedic.com/repair-center/quote.php

    • @PowerbookMedic
      @PowerbookMedic  Před 5 lety +1

      Yes, power goes through the unit even when it is in sleep mode.

      @@PowerbookMedic I see. It was on sleep mode at least 12 hours since the spill. I sent in a quote on your website and hopefully it's fixable...

      @@sunyoon They should get back to you quickly with the quote. Usually issues like this are fixable.

      Nick McRyan Typically, the top case needs to be replaced to fix any touch bar issues. Unless it’s been liquid damaged, then the logic board could be damaged too.
