FUN FACT: I live in Palo Alto, California. The donkey that was used for the model for "Donkey" lives here! He is a miniature donkey named "Perry" and he lives at a local park. I stop by and visit him pretty often. He looks soooo much like "Donkey" in the Shrek movies.

Shrek and Shrek 2 are probably the most fun animated movies ever. I got so lucky i was 6 and 9 when i saw those 2 movies. They work well for both kids and adults. If anything they got better with age!

This movie is about the rivalry between Dreamworks and Disney, Lord Farquaad represents the Disney CEO John Lithgow who fired Jefreey Katzenberg (main writer of Shrek). Lord Farquaad is trying to steal all the fairy tale characters, he lives in a castle that reassemble the Disney castle, and even the looks of the character are very similar to Lightgow’s! It was Dreamworks first big success!
There are plans to remake Shrek with new voice actors and new animations.

Love Shrek. Shrek 2 is even better. They messed it up a bit with 3 and 4, but still enjoyable.
Their is SHREK, SHREK 4D, SHREK 2, SHREK3, SHREK 4EVER AFTER and SHREKS SPOOKY SWAMP TALES( cannon Halloween special). All in chronological order and SHREK 3D is cannon to the story as it happened after SHREK but before 2.

@@Jeremy-jm3fe When I saw it in the theater, it had the flavor of being much more for adults, with the way some parts of the humor were handled (cough, wink wink, nudge nudge). And I imagined parents would put it in to watch and kids would see it and think, this is what adults like? And now we're in the new normal.

I just recently got why the villain is called Lord Farquaad... (try to say it fast)
One of the odd things I remember about this show, was that they actually dumbed down the 3d models so they would look more fake. Originally Fiona was so real that people actually thought at some points it could be a real woman, which changed the tone of the show. Part of why it got away with so much was that it was obviously a cartoon. So the violence was more Wile E. Coyote rather than real.
2 was really good too. 3....was ok, not the worst sequel but not great.
