The channel launched in April 2002... we can round that up to 13 years. The Pong game started to shrink at 1:3 - 13. The game stopped being visible and audible at 6:7 - 6+7=13. Cleverrrrr...
This is just the end of a recording therefore it was not G4's intent, but rather a coincidence created when the owner of this video cut and uploaded the video.

Randy Walters Jr The good old days! I looked up "G4" on U-verse and it disappeared! I used to watch it way back in 2007, but saw some stuff periodically!
X-Play Archive search youtube, there's ALOT of other channels like your archive, especially the older episodes. Another thing you can do is go here archive.org/details/g4-xplay and if what's on that page alone isn't enough, use the search bar just be sure to type " g4 xplay " into the search bar first and either specify the episode or game your looking for, OR just search that and use the various filter tools. Finally, anything you find on youtube or anything off their main site: www.g4tv.com, if you enjoy it and want to save it use this www.clipconverter.cc to save them. Enjoy, this is what helped me gather more.
Shanze S. thanks for the info and help. I'm already doing that though, i've been shifting though hours upon hours of internet archive videos, youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and Veoh. It is just going to be hard to find alot of new xplay stuff, don't get me wrong i've been finding alot of reviews and clips. But even then X-play made atleast 1200 episodes. I do't think we have found half the reviews. But again thank you for the help and the links. It is much appropriated.

I remember finding this channel by exploring directTV's channels when I was 11 years old. seeing a show called "X PLAY" and being curious. THey were talking about Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, then next was CHEAT. It was so mindblowing to see stuff about video games on TV when I was that young. The monster that this channel turned into, wasn't always like that. It's sad to see a childhood thing go away, but I'm happy to see the shithole that this channel became dead.
I grew up with TechTV and saw the merges happen as I grew older. It was great, watching all the old shows. Portal. Judgement Day. Cheat!. And growing older alongside X-Play. That channel made my, and everyone's lifetime a little (or a lot!) special.
Cross99obx I remember when I first found this channel on DirecTV. Ironically, I first started watching it around 2005 or 2006, which was about at the end of it's heyday. I honestly think that it was doomed to failure anyway because when it was launched in 2002, I'm sure no one expected all the gaming and technology content to be based entirely on the internet. Gaming and tech lore on TV is obviously a very outdated concept. This would've been the only reason why it failed if they hadn't ruined it with more reality trash then original content.
I discovered the original G4 back when I had Satellite Dish TV in Summer 2003 and I was done with 9th grade. Yeah G4 came out 2002 so I missed the premiere but it’s still close enough. Now I already knew about the reboot which was only in CZcams. But I didn’t discover the reboot on my Verizon Fios cable until August of this year. It was boring.
With the 9 million plus score? Given the time of length between the channel’s shutdown & the new trailer, I’d say that’s a really nice touch. Absolutely brilliant!
2014's shutdown is better than the 2022 one, it's just a picture of a guy's forehead with a pong tattoo and some random dude saying "I'm at Comic-Con" instead of Ramses.

Every summer, it seems that Disney XD transitions a similar channel to G4. It acts on a timeslot similar to teen nick and nick though, plus it's directed towards 12-16 year olds. (Not sure if it's still running.)

what a great way to send off the channel. even if i’ve never seen g4 except for the time i was channel surfing one afternoon, this actually hit me in the feels. it was that good.
I didn't realize that G4 had any kind of formal official symbolic shutdown, i just assumed someone somewhere just shut off a switch on some broadcast console shortly after 12:00 midnight, interrupting an otherwise typical late night lineup. The channel was a disgrace by this point but its nice to see someome cared enough to give it a formal sendoff.
G4 Canada just signed off with no warning whatsoever. They probably did it hours before the official sign off time. Most likely, after a show was done, things looked like there was another show coming. Instead, the channel had a black screen and some silent sounds. It looked like "dead air" or something. Kind of like the "silent minute" that some TV stations would do. It probably lasted for several hours. It looked like a Technical Difficulty moment. Then, it signed off. No fanfare or anything.
Watching that was one of the hardest things i did in my life watching a piece of my childhood go away like that. RIP G4 thank you for the good memories before you lost your sense of self

Although I do feel G4 really went downhill in the last half of the 00s and sadly kinda stayed that way into the new decade (oh they still had some notable shows like Code Monkeys and Attack of the Show, but much of what I turned in for during the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox generation began fading to the point that ironically one of the only video gaming shows they still had was a show they acquired from TechTV), I will say it is something of an end of an era to see the channel gone. G4 was a channel that really helped to define the sixth console generation for me (as I said above, the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox years), and I have to say thinking back to those early years is making me feel like playing something on one of those systems for old times sake. One reason why G4 was a big deal for me at the time is because my parents didn't have high speed internet back when G4 was still pretty new, so G4 was the best way for me to see new game footage and news more quickly, and I got to see the footage on the very TV I'd be playing those games on.

A lot of truth in what you say: G4 was at the height of it's popularity in the later years of the sixth generation of consoles (2004-2006). Metroid Prime, God of War, Prince of Persia, they loved talking about those games. Though they also helped shape the early years of the seventh generation of consoles (2006-2008). I remember my best friend loved this channel, I’d come over and we’d just spend hours talking about random things like boys and our fictional crushes with G4 on in the background while eating pizza or whatever her parents made. She always had G4 on, it said that watching G4 boosted her mood and made her feel like she was back in the summer of ‘04 (which she considered the happiest time of her life). A few years after this channel shut down, she committed suicide at the age of 25. I’ll miss you forever Sophia.

I still remember the day my friend told me about this channel i was 13 in middle school I was excited to find it went home and couldn't find it on Comcast the next day my parents randomly upgraded our Cable and finnaly got me internet this was the first channel I looked up and watched it non stop really wish I can build a time machine to watch this channel and to give my dad another hug

X-Play Archive search youtube, there's ALOT of other channels like your archive, especially the older episodes. Another thing you can do is go here archive.org/details/g4-xplay and if what's on that page alone isn't enough, use the search bar just be sure to type " g4 xplay " into the search bar first and either specify the episode or game your looking for, OR just search that and use the various filter tools. Finally, anything you find on youtube or anything off their main site: www.g4tv.com, if you enjoy it and want to save it use this www.clipconverter.cc to save them. Enjoy, this is what helped me gather more.
Shanze S. thanks for the info and help. I'm already doing that though, i've been shifting though hours upon hours of internet archive videos, youtube, Vimeo, Dailymotion, and Veoh. It is just going to be hard to find alot of new xplay stuff, don't get me wrong i've been finding alot of reviews and clips. But even then X-play made atleast 1200 episodes. I do't think we have found half the reviews. But again thank you for the help and the links. It is much appropriated.

I remember finding this channel by exploring directTV's channels when I was 11 years old. seeing a show called "X PLAY" and being curious.
THey were talking about Billy Hatcher and the Giant Egg, then next was CHEAT. It was so mindblowing to see stuff about video games on TV when I was that young.
The monster that this channel turned into, wasn't always like that. It's sad to see a childhood thing go away, but I'm happy to see the shithole that this channel became dead.
I grew up with TechTV and saw the merges happen as I grew older. It was great, watching all the old shows. Portal. Judgement Day. Cheat!. And growing older alongside X-Play. That channel made my, and everyone's lifetime a little (or a lot!) special.
Cross99obx I remember when I first found this channel on DirecTV. Ironically, I
first started watching it around 2005 or 2006, which was about at the
end of it's heyday. I honestly think that it was doomed to failure
anyway because when it was launched in 2002, I'm sure no one expected
all the gaming and technology content to be based entirely on the
internet. Gaming and tech lore on TV is obviously a very outdated
concept. This would've been the only reason why it failed if they hadn't
ruined it with more reality trash then original content.
I discovered the original G4 back when I had Satellite Dish TV in Summer 2003 and I was done with 9th grade. Yeah G4 came out 2002 so I missed the premiere but it’s still close enough. Now I already knew about the reboot which was only in CZcams. But I didn’t discover the reboot on my Verizon Fios cable until August of this year. It was boring.
That Pong game kept going for 6 years...
With the 9 million plus score? Given the time of length between the channel’s shutdown & the new trailer, I’d say that’s a really nice touch. Absolutely brilliant!

On a different note, if you go to the official site it feels like a strange wasteland since it still has GTA V's announced release date in The Feed section. It's already appearing in a relic state which is surreal to say the least.
And the Community section redirects, which means the forums are gone.
It really is a relic then, quite a bittersweet feeling really.

I still cherish G4 so much. Was a huge part of my youth. So thankful to all the people who recorded and uploaded as much footage of it and its shows as possible.

Every summer, it seems that Disney XD transitions a similar channel to G4. It acts on a timeslot similar to teen nick and nick though, plus it's directed towards 12-16 year olds.

I didn't realize that G4 had any kind of formal official symbolic shutdown, i just assumed someone somewhere just shut off a switch on some broadcast console shortly after 12:00 midnight, interrupting an otherwise typical late night lineup.
The channel was a disgrace by this point but its nice to see someome cared enough to give it a formal sendoff.
G4 Canada just signed off with no warning whatsoever. They probably did it hours before the official sign off time. Most likely, after a show was done, things looked like there was another show coming. Instead, the channel had a black screen and some silent sounds. It looked like "dead air" or something. Kind of like the "silent minute" that some TV stations would do. It probably lasted for several hours. It looked like a Technical Difficulty moment. Then, it signed off. No fanfare or anything.

Although I do feel G4 really went downhill in the last half of the 00s and sadly kinda stayed that way into the new decade (oh they still had some notable shows like Code Monkeys and Attack of the Show, but much of what I turned in for during the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox generation began fading to the point that ironically one of the only video gaming shows they still had was a show they acquired from TechTV), I will say it is something of an end of an era to see the channel gone.
G4 was a channel that really helped to define the sixth console generation for me (as I said above, the PS2/Gamecube/Xbox years), and I have to say thinking back to those early years is making me feel like playing something on one of those systems for old times sake. One reason why G4 was a big deal for me at the time is because my parents didn't have high speed internet back when G4 was still pretty new, so G4 was the best way for me to see new game footage and news more quickly, and I got to see the footage on the very TV I'd be playing those games on.
Poison Same feeling as you, back when G4 died in early 2006, I had a high speed internet to start watching videos on CZcams for gaming related shows like Machinima and user-made game reviews like Jedite1, Armake21, and AVGN
A lot of truth in what you say: G4 was at the height of it's popularity in the later years of the sixth generation of consoles (2004-2006). Metroid Prime, God of War, Prince of Persia, they loved talking about those games. Though they also helped shape the early years of the seventh generation of consoles (2006-2008). I remember my best friend loved this channel, I’d come over and we’d just spend hours talking about random things like boys and our fictional crushes with G4 on in the background while eating pizza or whatever her parents made. She always had G4 on, it said that watching G4 boosted her mood and made her feel like she was back in the summer of ‘04 (which she considered the happiest time of her life). A few years after this channel shut down, she committed suicide at the age of 25. I’ll miss you forever Sophia.

Actually the "I'm at Comic-Con!" line wasn't said by Kevin Pereira during Attack of the Show but rather a Saint Seiya cosplayer (the Ramses Project, he can be found on CZcams) said that on Pulse (a gaming news show before TechTV merger).

I still remember the day my friend told me about this channel i was 13 in middle school I was excited to find it went home and couldn't find it on Comcast the next day my parents randomly upgraded our Cable and finnaly got me internet this was the first channel I looked up and watched it non stop really wish I can build a time machine to watch this channel and to give my dad another hug
I remembered that we were preparing the new year of 2015. Sady, I caught a sad ending to G4. It was my favorite channel, & a few years later, they revived G4! Very happy it's back.
In hindsight, the vary last moment of g4 was a huge ass foreshadowing
