- The 2024 Volkswagen Tiguan is the latest version of VW's best-selling car worldwide. That makes it rather important.
This latest version is the third generation of VW’s mid-size five-seater family SUV, and its rivals include models from Lexus, Alfa Romeo, Jaguar, Honda, Toyota, Kia, Hyundai, Peugeot, Renault, and more.
To see how it fares, Vicky Parrott tests the latest Tiguan - complete with 2.0-litre diesel engine - on UK roads, and weighs up its practicality, technology, quality, running costs, comfort and performance. Would you consider a new Tiguan?

Thank you. It makes a change to hear a really honest opinion despite the manufacturers trying to charm the reviewers with the highest spec they could find. VP proves them wrong.
It just looks as if someone has glued an iPad onto the dashboard.
No, a bona fide laptop.
So many car manufacturers are doing this glued tablet style. What makes VW any different? lol 😂
I enjoyed watching the Video Review, more stylish than the previous Model
I enjoyed watching your video. Just wandering if you tried the different drive modes. Listening to your driving experience it seems like you may have had in Sport mode during your test.
The glued on ipad laptop thing on the dash kills it for me, i would remove it by force if necessary.
Looks amazing, friend has one and the ride is fine.
Why does no one include fold out picnic tables in the rear seats no more? I get wear and tear but really useful!
The level of professionalism in your videos is impressive. You have a polished and well-produced content.
Love Vicki's videos. Tend to be honest and non fussy, straight to the point. Not sure if its just the video angle but looks like there is an awful lot of black shiny platics in the front and on that dash. Like its looks and actually like that colour, but sadly, VW keep cutting corners and are just being out done by competitors they used to laugh at and mock.
Is possible to get the 13inch infotainment with the high spec’d Tiguan RLINE ?
Thanks a lot. Very nice review. I read comments and people were right and wrong. I have older Tiguan elegance 20inch wheels. There is no DCC on my car. It is really uncomfortable for family on not perfect road. But on German autobahn it drives like a dream. So please avoid 20inch in any combination. And there is a throttle delay which is really bad ( in sport mode it’s ok). Regarding the new Tiguan, that display is horrible the way it located there. My 2021 Tiguan is way more elegant and strong. All in all, Tiguan is a great car. I really recommend it.
@4:50 You don't have the settings right. The adaptive damper basically negate the larger wheel size. You can precisely dial in your comfort settings. That's the point of the option.
Yes, comfort is decent and still holds the car on the road very well. But this way the suspension noise would have been even worse - DCC pro is quietest on the hardest setting.
You say you expected more comfort from a family SUV.
If you want comfort you should avoid 20 inch wheels.
Also, how can you say to avoid DCC Pro when you haven't driven a Tiguan 3 without?
What makes you think it would be better?
A Tiguan with 20 inch wheels without DCC Pro will be much worse.
On 20 inch wheels the DCC Pro will not make such a difference on the dampers side.
But the DCC Pro does not only control the softness or stifness of the dampers.
With the DCC Pro the car will be more stable on the road for one thing.
I drove a Tiguan 3 with DCC Pro, 17 inch wheels and one without.
Let me tell you, it makes a big difference, specially regarding road stability.
Come on, I expected more from you.
If you want to do a fair review, compare both and then draw conclusion.
Otherwise is just talk.
Agreed, DCC pro really works well BUT it is noisy on speed bumps. It also makes you lust for more power (at least with eTSI).
Well she said she'd driven an ID3 without it, and the Passat a few weeks ago. I don't think the VW press team offer them a choice of spec, she'll get what she's given and it looks like the VW press team dropped the ball with this press car.
Tiguan is perfect in Plug-in variant and 4motion :)
Looks like a big upgrade. Not sure about the looks TBH. One thing I will say, leasing/company rates are good for these and compare well to EV’s like the Enyaq. May well look at a Hybrid version early next year as my next company car.
I test drove this car…..it’s nice but what are VW thinking with those prices, it’s far too expensive. Everything is an option on the car making it stupidly expensive……I discounted it from my choices.
I have this rline phev and a phev santa fe as a company car option.....i feel like theres more car for your money in the hyundai. The vw might be cheaper per month in company car tax, but the santa ce just looks and aeems like a better option all round
I'd go for the Passat.
The truth shall set you free, great review. And a Sht car! Vw aren't the peoples car anymore. Skoda is!! ( I have had 9 vw cars in the family, not buying vw again) MY TOTALL RESPECT TO CARGURU FOR BE HONEST, other reviews have been bought. And iv watched every review that comes out.lol love cars!
My T Roc R Line is the same - ride comfort is really disappointing on only 17" wheels. Always feels unsettled and lumpy.
car mui bello. love in italy
I think it's a decent looking car but I hate the massive touchscreen nailed onto the dash - it looks so 'unintegrated'. I guess like a lot of German cars, it has suspension tuned to be rock stable while you hurtle down the autobahn at Warp 9. However, that doesn't work very well for almost anywhere in the UK where a combination of traffic volumes and third world road surfaces mean 40mph feels like an unattainable dream. Great review though and top marks for slipping Darth Vader's helmet into the script without laughing (almost). 🤣
Darth Vaders helmet? Ooh er!
Comments are always the best , miss’s
I see some Chinese influence in the design (Haval, Cherry, etc.)
You mean the world's fastest growing market? I hope so.
@@krane15 Yep
Diesel, yuk. Bring on the R! Current gen is a great car, hoping 3rd gen will be too.
Imagine paying nearly 50k for a car with cloth seats 😂
And 2WD on an SUV chassis with only 150 bhp.
Ever heard of inflation?.
@@ag8912Not everything is because of inflation, even with inflation prices of cars are just crazy, they‘re out of their minds!
@@AR-1806 nah they're totally consistent with inflation. Wages just don't follow suit. And if the car is too expensive for you, guess what? You aren't the target audience anyway.
@@ag8912 But I feel like generally cars have gotten more expensive but quality has gotten worse since they are cost cutting
Honest review! 👍 Gonna lose VW a few millions of lost sales 😂🤣
😃😃😃👍
Lots of😂 jeolosy guys.. Difficult to improve on brilliant previous generations of vw I still have 2014 Tsi tiguan it still feels more solid than pro cherry 4 New Tiguan just needs bigger tyrea
Previous tiguan looked better
I gave up diesel cars back in the 90's, then stopped driving ICE vehicles about 5 years ago. Now I only drive EVs, unless on holiday -and even those are going electric.
I thought that by now diesel vehicles would be out of fashion.
What’s next for you? A horse?
😂😂😂😂
@@jameskeys971 A flying pegasus perhaps? (nowadays I drive EVs).
@@firstnamelastname9631 beats a broom
Towing caravans, boats and horses maybe.
Noice
Passat no good, no more saloon or TDi option. The light bars look ugly too
VW disappointed very honestly review
Quirky german car. But modern Chinese suvs will easily kill it if given a fair competitive open market in Europe
100%
Very unreliable, get the Rav4 or CRV. My Rav4 is 15 years old
VW really has really ruined the front of the car. It used to look great, but now it looks like a KIA or something with a lot of plastic. And the glued on iPad, o my God. That screen was integrated in a great way in the older version, but this... it's just a big NO!
Looks boring as , what's with the piano black and sounds like it as a terrible ride!! .... #fail
VW turning into Nissan…not good
What an horrid car. I'd rather drive any other car that humans ever made.
You wouldnt.
Typical VW. Expensive, dull and overrated.
Not nice I dont like it this model am sorry 👎
So then you sour graped 🍇 Brexit Brits, get a Leyland instead! Lol
