Tarrlok was the last representative for the Northern Water Tribe on the United Republic Council and also served as its chairman. He was an ambitious politician, considered fair-minded and likable by the general public; however, behind closed doors, he was a manipulative man who held a long-standing rivalry with Councilman Tenzin. Tarrlok sought to fight the Anti-bending Revolution with violence rather than peaceful negotiation. He was willing to go to extreme lengths to win the conflict against the Equalists, even if it meant fanning the flames of aggression and risking the lives of innocent people.

Dude Taarlock and Amon's (not gonna try to spell his real name lol) story really got me. It was so so tragic. Taarlock was only trying to do right by the city in his own way, but seeing how corrupted his brother was and that he would never change realized his only way of stopping the madness was for them both to die. When Taarlock did that I was like .... "Man... I salute you Taarlock. Rest in peace." Not gonna lie, I actually cried when I first saw that. Their father was a piece of SHIT.
tbh, i'm more interested on his character than the new avatar so when he killed himself, i stopped watching it
Dip Dop the dynamic between Tarlok and Amon was definitely super tragic. Awesome story though very thorough!

I actually learned somewhere that the creators of korra wanted Amon to survive the explosion and lose his arms in the process, then the armless waterbender idea was used later for Ming hua the waterbender from the red lotus
I rlly felt that the deaths of Tarrlok and Noatok were rlly sad. Nobody would have known their fate and the fact that Tarrlock did this act to help protect the world and get no recognition for it is so sad. I wish ppl would have known his efforts to be a hero unlike his dad.
I feel like the only good part of book one was Tarrlok and Amon. They were my favorite characters.

It's theorised that Noatak was fully aware. Amon could sense Korra in the room, so it's likely that he had the ability to sense motions of living creatures with bloodbending. It's sad, as he set out with his brother to try to start a new life without becoming the tools for revenge their father intended, but when Tarrlok decided that the only way to make things right was to both die, he accepted his brothers choice.
Such a tragic end to the two brothers tragic story. Good story telling is why I love Bryan Konietzko and Michael DiMartino

In my opinion he's even more tragic than Azula, because he saw the flaws in his actions. She survived, believing she was right, while upon realizing he was wrong and being a slave to his father the whole time Tarrlok realized the only way to redeem himself was to remove this level of power entirely, and killed himself and his brother. The saddest part is he can't even be called a hero, as he didn't die fighting to do good, his one good act act was his death. It feels like they looked at Jets story, and said "Let's make him a main antagonist. And 10x sadder."
What if Tarlok ran away with Noatak?

I guess why Korra can't win against her foes on her own is because the writers gave overpowering villains..
@@SophiaZhang-bb1jf this is so true. Korra was an absolute prodigy of an avatar, Bending three elements at 4. They literally had to NERF her so hard because they knew she could kick any and everyones ass. But it doesn't matter, by season 4 you get a good sense of how powerful she is

If both Tarlock and his brother lived I think they would’ve gone to the northern water tribe and try to start a new peaceful life. And if Tarlock became his father figure I feel like Amon would’ve tried to stop him.
Just to let ya’ll know. Notak, cried because he could sense tarlokk using the Glove to ignite the fueltank. He knew what was going on behind him.
No he didn't. First of all, Amon doesn't have that power. Second of all, he cried because he was reminded of the good old days. Third of all, had he known what Tarrlok was going to do, he would have stopped him. He was not suicidal.

@@vetarlittorf1807 There's actually a HUGE chance he knew what was going on. You are just not paying attention to the story. As he was able to sense Korra in the room in one episode and since he is the best bloondbender to have ever lived it's very possible he knew what his brother was doing which could explain the tear. Him not stopping him probably came from a deep understanding of his brother's actions as their life is clouded in madness and pain. Deep down they both knew this was the only way to end it.
@@quizzlybear Except Amon didn't sense Korra, he just heard her sigh. There is no indication that he can sense movements nor is there any indication that he was suicidal. In fact, the whole scene shows him being hopeful and excited for a brighter future.

They need to remake Season 1. Extend the storytelling and give us proper time to digest everything, and a more in-depth look at the increasing weight of emotion within Tarrlok and Amon towards the end. I would love to see exactly what drove him to commit suicide and take his brother with him. That is no easy decision. Man had to be fighting his demons in silence to go to that extreme.
