  • On May 13, 2019, a midair collision occurred over George Inlet in Alaska between two small planes - a de Havilland DHC-2, N952DB, and a de Havilland DHC-3, N959PA. The collision resulted in the deaths of six people and shocked the aviation industry.
The two planes were part of a sightseeing tour operated by Taquan Air, a company that provides tours of the Alaskan wilderness. The DHC-2 was carrying four passengers, all from South Carolina, while the DHC-3 had a pilot and a passenger from Canada.
The collision occurred at around 12:21 pm local time, when the two planes collided in midair, about 3,300 feet above sea level. The exact cause of the collision is still under investigation, but it is believed that both planes were flying at low altitudes, in an area of limited visibility due to clouds and mist.
Immediately after the collision, both planes crashed into the water below. The Coast Guard, local rescue teams, and bystanders quickly responded to the scene, but the six passengers on board the planes were all pronounced dead. The crash site was located in a remote and rugged part of Alaska, making the recovery of the bodies and wreckage challenging.

i think the death toll would have been lower if the planes didn’t collide.
