Great video with tons of info. Interesting to hear how light the pros go. Makes me fell like Im a bit over doing it with 60lb braid straight through. Wonder if they would still go light mono or braid now its best part of a decade later
I've always just used 40-60lb straight through, the only difference I noticed is that is easier to get a bit of extra distance. I feel the leader knot is an Achilles heel that likes to grab seaweed. It's also a headache tying new leaders on a windy, cold beach
We catch any shark at T/A Fishing,Tigers,Bulls,Lemons,Hammers etc,but not in England.All we get here are Blue sharks,Porbeagle sharks(we have record here in UK)Thresher sharks,and every 40 years a Mako pops up !! Probably Six gills out in some deep holes but nobody yet landed one in UK.We are out trying for them over next couple of days.Might get lucky.We have 150lbs of Chum !!
That's good fishing.Well done. And don't forget September to November can often be the best months for getting numbers of Pike. I hope you caught bigger pike than your Dad .

weel i was down in ross lare and we were trawling with two rods going at around 6 knots and caught a massive bass
i found a smooth hound washed up on the beach so i brought it to my school

I used to fish it years ago. Was a low water mark for Rays if I recall.

I live about 5 minutes away from that huge powerstation - Aberthaw. Let me assure you that it isn't a great spot for fishing. It's dreadful.

I suspect not .Only European Sea Bass. And they have lots of those. Probably best fishing in Europe.
