WOW!!! This girl is AMAZING! I wish I knew 2% of what she knows about sewing. I recently got a thrift skirt that is too big. I'm ATTEMPTING to "fix" it, by simply adding an elastic band, inside the waist band, but now seeing this, I think my plan is dumb. 😢
There are many ways to alter something and make it fit.

Great tutorial, thanks for explaining the steps and why it should be done this way. I did notice that the original skirt had either a little pleat or gathering along the top just past the pockets. But this feature was taken off of the 'new' skirt, leaving this area completely smooth. Was this a design choice? Thanks!
Yes it was a design choice. I didn't want that little gather there any more and I figured it wasn't going to change what I was doing so I didn't mention it. I didnt want to waste anyones time ;)
I love your alteration videos, thank you Anastasia! I tend to just quickly put in darts (without seam-ripping out anything) to take in skirts because the whole process seems daunting, but you've really made it look very approachable! (✿◕‿◕✿)

I have a casual pair of pants that i just bought that are knit. They are very long waisted and the waistband is just a tad large. Can i use this technique? Also, waistband is just a ring so not sure what i am going to do with that.
Yes, you can definitely use this technique to alter your pants! Just follow the steps in the video and you'll be able to adjust the waistband and make them fit perfectly.

Yes it’s hard to find things to upcycle for us plus size ladies. I can’t afford new so. I go the goodwills and thrift stores and try to make them fit me. Could you show how we bigger ladies and upcycle and have fashion too
