What are your takes and predictions for this year's Tour de France? 🚴♂🏁
Jai Hindley will win by 8 minutes
It's Tadej's tour to lose, but I'd love to see him and Jonas duke it out this year. Remco will pop early, and the TT's can't save him. If Roglic can stay on his bike I'd be happy to see him podium.
EF already released their team, a whole week before the start, and if that can happen, anything can really
Pog
Remco will be in yellow after the first TT, and lose it on the gravel stage
I just want a close finish and no one crashing out. Especially Cav.
nice shout
I’m so hyped up about this race. There feels like more prospect of history than any other tour ever. So many GC contenders and the chance of Cavendish's 35th!
I'm so hyped about this race too! 🚴♂ The competition is intense with so many GC contenders, and Cavendish's 35th could be legendary! Just like in racing, having a strategy in finance is crucial. How do you all ensure your financial strategy is as solid as a Tour de France plan? A good financial advisor can make all the difference!
This race is shaping up to be one for the books! The prospect of Cavendish hitting his 35th win is exhilarating. Just like in cycling, having a coach or advisor is key. Rising prices have affected my intention of retiring at 62, working part-time, and building my savings. The stock market's volatility, coupled with a reduced income, is making me anxious about having enough for retirement.

Dan, I'm sure you'll be much missed on the Eurosport race coverage this year, not least by me.
I particularly enjoyed the mid-race section where you - particularly in tandem with Adam Blythe - covered while the main commentators took a break. It was always immensely entertaining to hear two former pros, with more than a hint of self-deprecation, used their own experience of racing to inform and contrast with what happens in races today. I'm sure it was often hard work keeping the commentary flowing on what can often be a 'graveyard shift', but you made the kilometres fly by.
However, I can only applaud the principled decision you've made to give up working with Eurosport now that GCN has fully separated from Warner Bros/Discovery. I'm sure that it's been extremely difficult for you, but well done on coming to that conclusion and good luck with all that you do in the future.
Thanks John.
100% agree! Always a joy to join live commentary during my lunch break to find Dan on there, the race being secondary - I will go cold turkey in one of my new GCN tees!
Very well written! Fully agree!
@@DanielLloyd1 So does this mean you won't be commentating on Eurosport? If so, that truly sucks. I prefer your commentary style over the standup-wannabe Kirby or the overly emphatic Hatch.
That is a shame indeed. Best commentator in cycling.
My heart: Cavs' gonna do it man. What a sendoff for an epic career.
My head: He'll literally need to be pushed over by teammates mate...
You can feel how much more the boys are enjoying presenting after the sale
Pog is the obvious favourite but 8 other grand tour winners will be there, even without Kuss. On top of that there are seven more grand tour podium finishers on the start line. Massively stacked line up!
jonas team far weaker than last year and hes not as fit either..... so logically he's a no bet. theres question marks over all the top 4 really
super good summary. It made me smile that 2800m summit finish. because some days ago I was watching the "vuelta a colombia, they have had this year a stage finish at 4149 m... just a bit higher
Shame that in Europe we don't have any road asphalted at that altitude :(
@@danielguinea2971 Come to Himalayas in India and ride at 5,000M+ altitude! 😁I've done that. Unbeatable experience!!
3km is still high enough, altitude racing is a different thing alltogether and suits very different body chemistry

Finally GCN's TDF preview!
It's that time of year again folks! TOUR DE FRANCE!!!! LETS GOOOOOO!
Considering how many GC riders you mentioned, slightly surprised Felix Gall wasn't mentioned once
fun rider, he will make his mark in his terrain, the mountains.
Looking forward to the Cime de la Bonette. It is a killer climb and the decent is awe inspiring.
YES! Derrick Gee for YELLOW!🚴♂
Shades of Alex Steida
Go on Cav! One more stage win for the record books!
tbf he;s already top of that leader board and i dont mind mercx staying there :)
Thanks Dan , Si , and crew.....I think we win ! Sooooo much talent now !! Be safe running Danimal .
Roglic to win it. Will be a surprise but I’m all for it. That new kit is amazing too
The new kit is dire
Huge thumbs up for getting free of WBD! Good luck everyone.
❤
Cannot wait for this year's edition, thank you for the coverage!
Pidcock’s descent will always be one of my favorite modern TDF moments. Even the commentators were horrified when he passed that stone pillar by millimeters. He got up to 100km an hour. And mad lad that he is he stopped for a nature break then kept going!
Awesome overview. First time seeing you guys and will keep an eye out for your stage reviews
I think it were a genius move when they last year moved the TT to middle of race rather than start with it however I am not crazy for having two and not great to end with one. I find it exciting that we see first stages are hard mountain stages and it will be a fast test of what condition Jonas are in. I would imagine that it could be hard for Pogocar to hold himself back and he could win those stages but also burn himself down long term doing so. Definitely going to be excitement from the get go this year. Maybe Jonas and Jumbo simply will stay on wheel of UAE and Pogocar first two days (?) and go for taking the win in week 3 again. I have seen Jonas speak last days and I think he looks confident despite he stays with his low key language, that I personally find refreshing. Jonas in last minute lost Kuss that have been a great TdF rider for Jumbo and Jonas.
Last 2-3 years have been truly epic TdF´s! The stages this year and the fact that both Jonas and Pogocar starts again this year means all the ingredients for another great year are present. Gentleman! Starts your engines! Let the race begin!
I guess a prediction for the winner are in place? I will stick with Jonas!
Great preview, thanks very much. It's going to be a great race this year.
Great preview chaps.
Loving the t-shirts… ordered Dan’s one from the shop!
So excited!
As always, this was top notch. Informative & entertaining, helps me build out my TdF fantasy team. :) Cheers!
I always look forward to GCN R shows, esp at this time of the year...VIVE La Tour...and you too at GCN Racing !!!
Loving your enthusiasm. Being in the US now, it's always fun waking up and getting settled in for the second half of each TdF stage!
Thanks Guys!! good stuff
Great overview! Can't wait
Think you missed Simon Yates?
Shirts are top-notch this year! I always look forward to the grand tour preview shows! I will always be pulling for the Welsh metronome that is Geraint Thomas! 3 weeks of racing bring chaos and plenty of unknowns... I'll bet with my heart!
What a great course. This is going to test everyone, and teamwork will be more important than ever for GC.
Anyone other than Pogacar would be a huge surprise!!!
Pogacar is the rightful favorite, BUT the history concerning Giro Tour double cannot be ignored. It just doesn't happen. This tour could be totally crazy. If Pogacar doesn't win, he will curse the decision to ride the Giro.
@@patrickbateman7444he won't curse anything - he's already grand tour winner this year and has a shit load of other wins as well. The season is a success no matter what happens.
@@millerpils Nah, in the end it's all about the tour. And this year he has the golden ticket. Maybe he'll cash it anyway, but if not, he will be pissed. He's not beating Jonas in top shape. And he knows that as well, that's why he went to the Giro in the first place.
@@patrickbateman7444 Cycling exists outside the Tour.....People need to lose the Tour obsession - it's unhealthy.
@@patrickbateman7444Didn‘t he call last year a success despite not winning a single Grand Tour?
🔥 Go Biniam Girmay : Canada and the US is supporting you 🔥
So excited for it ❤
Thank you for this preview show 👌👍
Thanks for another great grand tour preview!
❤
It doesn't matter as long as Cav gets the one he needs but it will probably be Tadej
Best preview. Looking forward.
❤
Roglic has at least the best looking kit now.
Just waiting for him to tear it up. Eek. Hope he stays on the bike.
The Visma-LAB kit is atrocious
Visma one easily looks worse
There new bike is pretty sweet
for most parts the course is absolute fantastic and will guarantee exciting racing; but two things are questionable: the finish of the Galibier stage and the finish of the last TT, both are unnecessary dangerous. The descent of the Galibier is fast and has bad tarmac, and as it leads directly to the finish there can be a battle on that descent where riders will take huge risks. And the descent at the final TT... on a TT bike they will reach a speed of more than 100 kph, and there are often strong crosswinds! I very much hope we will not see a disaster...
and gravel :/ pot luck puncture time just to try ruin somebody lol
naa....too easy
Interesting how everyone says that the defending back to back champion is a big question mark but then goes on to say that Pog is the obvious favorite. Jonas won by 7:29 minutes last year and he always gets better the deeper we get in to the race. Will not be suprised if he puts the nail in the coffin on the final time trial and wins by less than a minute.
Well he did suffer a collapsed lung and multiple broken bones..
If JV wins after the severity of the recent injuries, then something dodgy is definitely cooking in the Visma LAB.
He did have a tube down his lungs for 8 days back in April, so that will likely impact his performance, how much we just don't know.
There's also the mental part, in an interview in this year's Tour de France Unchained Julian Alaphilippe said it took him a while to not be afraid on the bike again after his crash, and this is Jonas' first race since the crash.
I just hope he will be back to his former form next year, so we can have another close battle then, I'm afraid this year might be a write off in terms of a competitive race, but I hope I'm wrong.
His team never won a GT without Kuss being there. But even then its obvious people (mostly motivated by the media goo) are forgetting HOW he won. Jonas doesn't care about people forgetting, its easier for him to remind all who he is when they think he's not 100%. To me, if Jonas gets to 98% he will still have the best chances to win. Im rooting for Primoz but expect Jonas for the win.
Been waiting for this video 😁
Yeah! Here we go!
Visma seemed to had the recipe to crack Pog in the last year, but it depends a lot on their domestiques. A bit of a shame that Milan and Koi are not here. I still want to see the drag race MvdP/Philipsen vs. WVA/Koi vs. Pedersen/Milan
Sepp has gone as well😮
@@agamemnonhatred Yes, it will get very hard this year to make it happen. But the interesting thing this year is there are more than 2 serious GC teams and somebody else might do a part of the work.
@@chrisridesbicycles I can't see it. However, high temperatures are Tadej's kryptonite and that's they only thing that will stop him. UAE, love them or hate them, are turning up with a winning team.
@@agamemnonhatred They are. Their weak point might be crosswinds in flat stages. And I am very sure dropped UAE domestiques will not come back as easily as in the Giro.
@@chrisridesbicycles You have a point for sure. Let's hope it's a competition rather than a victory parade. Plus Sir Mark may get his 35th stage, unlikely but 'Wow!'
The race will be settled by the 4th stage with Pogi taken already 2 min by then that is my prediction.
2 mins aint enough, riders like remco can take a minute in a time trial
@@PazLeBon Pogi will not lose 2 min to Remco over the two timetrials. I see Roglic as the main contender, I doubt Remco even can finish in the top 10 of the tour. He will lose so much time to the rest over the 3 weeks.
@@PazLeBonCavendish will win by 💯
@@GDe-gi1kz would be the biggest cheer of the tour :)
Good preview, but unless I missed it, no mention of Sepp Kuss's absence, and the effect on Vingegaard's chances?
I think it was worthy of at least a mention.
They probably recorded before the announcement
Maybe - but at 19:28 to 20:04, they discuss his 'squad' members, and no mention is made of Kuss.
So even if this was recorded before Kuss's Covid announcement, they apparently forgot about him.
And didn’t mention his surprise replacement. Even if pre recorded, they didn’t even mention
Kuss. Weird and an unexplainable gaffe.
He wasn't a "GC Contender" as he was supposed to ride for Jonas. It would have been super weird to mention GC Kuss as a "GC Contender".
@@LarsRyeJeppesen doesn’t matter: 1. they mentioned the rest of the team, 2. completely skipped the best mountain domestique in the world and winner of the Vuelta.
Fantastic preview chaps. C'mon Cav for a stage win!
3 gorske etape in bo konec ! Le padec lahko premaga Pogija
True
I would love to see Derek Gee get at least 1 stage win! Love watching him ride, he has a lot of heart and pretty fearless.
GCN+ will comeback? Can we watch live cycling with you guys? It would be so nice....
a friend got me your tin mug , after my recent heart attack , a fantastic gift
Yea, Sir Cav for no 35!
Early stages ...very happy to see what happens?
I agree with being very excited to see what Derek Gee can do this tour. Seems like a true wild card with impressive finish in the Dauphine and his agressive rides in the Giro, but kind of unknown if he has the quality to match the top cyclists and contend for GC.
Someone can seriously win this tour in the first two days.
I know JV chances are slim but I'm so stoked for this race. Third one as an American fan! Let's go!!! Would love to see Cavs get the stage, Powless win a mountain stage, and Bini to win a sprint!
My prediction-everybody who is super hyped now will be extremely disappointed when Pog turns the Tour into Giro 2.0
Carlos Rodriguez is gonna win the young riders' classification for sure. I feel like you forgot him again after running through gc contenders :D
Agree with you about Derek G, will be really interesting see how he does after his last great showing. Top 3?
was hoping for Kuss, so now im hoping for jorgenson
Jonas win stage 21 and takes the Yellow. Mark take a stage win. Netflix Couldn't wish for more🤛🏻🚴🏻♂️💨
Just repeating my suggestion for a newly independent GCN: become an organizer of 3-4 major gravel and road rides in the US. Will he a nice, extra profit center and boost everything else you do as well. GCN Unbound!
Jonas is recovering from a punctured lung. Tadej is recovering from Covid. Both significantly impact your breathing. Both riders are young, however. The mountains will tell us how well they have recovered
Si, pronouciation service from a Dane: Vingegaard = Ving-uh-gor
Final stage Tt means it will be a close and exciting one, like past tdf editions that had one.
We’ll also see whether this tough route affects the riders in the Olympics
Part of me hopes that all the GC teams conspire to exhaust Pog. Just like Primoz/Vingegaard routine in the mountains previously, have each team go after Pog in a way he has to respond, and exhaust himself, then the next day, another team do it... Just to exhaust him and his support.. So that he is brought back to mortal levels :)
❤long live GCN
I've never been a huge Cavendish fan but the respect I have for him is beyond enormous ahahah I see him like the Federer of the sprinters, just pure class and the chance of him getting the 35th win in what looks like it's going to be one of the best Tour de France ever just gives me chillssss!!!
❤
he comes away as such a nice and intelligent guy in interviews, I wish him the best of luck
how could someone not be a fan?
the final TT might give Jonas a chance to come into top form at the perfect time - whilst Pog might be tailing off a bit...
But Im still going for Pog to become the first (?) cyclist to win all three Grand Tours in a calander year. Be more difficult for him to win the World or Olympic Road race or Time Trial but you never know...
GO POG!!!! 🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮🇸🇮
I think finally everything aligns for the really wanted TdF win for.... Primoz Roglic.
I have both a hunch and hope that Egan Bernal will bounce back this year
ohhhhhh yeah
i wonder if it would make sense to do a bike swap on the final stage at the top of col d'eze as it appears to be mostly downhill for the final 13km or so
This season is unpredictable i believed that every team new members is a game changer, uae or redbull borahansgro is my bet for this season
I think Dijon is a day for a mustard colored leaders jersey 😂
Stage 4 has got to be a big target for Pidcock.
Will be interesting to see how many teams opt for road bikes at the start of stage 21 then switch to TT bikes at 18km 😅
GC will definitely change on the last day of the tour 🙌🏾 15:59
With Tour de France already underway, perhaps it would be useful to have a tutorial video explaining all the history, terminology and main concepts of the race on the main channel? I, for one, have gotten into cycling a few years ago and I am somewhat ignorant of the TdF.
It's not already underway.
WvA? MVDP?
Not GC contenders
I like the way Si says it’s such a short stage at 140 kms!
I’ve never done a 140 km ride in my life……..and I’m 58! Seriously Si?
Can't believe Philipsen has brought the A-Team as a leadout and not included B. A. Baracus
we need predictions for who will come second at the tour, my pick, Egan Bernal for P2.
you both predicted Pogi winning last year, then what happened? It will be the same this year.😃👌
Jonas Abrahamsen stage win mark my words
I only currently have access to UK freeview TV, so will be watching on ITV4 - sorry! They do tend to view everything through a pro-Cavendish lens, so in their eyes if he finishes 14th on the first sprint stage that will be proof of how he's warming up nicely to get a win 🙄 You can't deny Cavendish has an extraordinary record in the Tour, but it really is time now to change the narrative. There are younger guys coming through and imo it's far more exciting watching them become the next generation of sprint stars rather than everyone's time and attention being taken up cajoling a fading star over the line just to fulfill a fairytale storyline constructed around him.
Great to hear you guys are independent again. Are there any plans to bring back the (badly missed) GCN+?
Oh, and for the white shirt, I am routing for Matteo J. - it would mean a lot to the US after Kuss had to drop out.
No Dan, you were not joking about Pogacar getting sick. It's who you are.
When are the next set of gcn jerseys coming out
Well.. You might not be giving us the live coverage any more.. But you still gave us easily the best preview.😊
Can’t wait for the race this season. I’m normally a Jonas fan but I’m afraid he will not be up to par sadly so my vote is for Pogi.
As for the race... Phillipsen cruisin for bruisin. I hope it'll be a battle, rather than the pog show
Its going to be up to 36 Celcius in Florence this Saturday. It'll be interesting to see how the riders cope with that. Will the tarmac be cooled down by fire department like in 2022?
I bet on Pogacar, and he doesn't win its going to be a surprise for me. In my opinion, it'll be like the Giro. Everybody will fight for other positions.
Why is people underrestamating vingegaard so much? If vingegaard is even at 97-98% he can still win the tour
@@tobiasdencker853...buddy /wtf are u talking???.....Jonas can't be at this level at all what's so ever..... impossible...... IMPOSSIBLE!!!!!!.....His injurys were very much serious and if he will be in the first 10 will be a huge success....mark my words!!!
@@GaiusPrimusMatius he dosn't need to be 100 percent to beat pogacar
Is there any reason why the organiser includes some gravel routes in the stages? because it was so dry and dusty when the peloton passed through in this year Giro. Personally, that would reduce visibility and the amount of dust they have to inhale while cycling will be considerable.
Mark Cavendish said this is the most brutal TOUR he has ever seen😜😜😜
What about the rest of the staff predictions!?
While it was fun to see Jumbo win three Grand Tours with three riders last year, I'm "secretly" hoping Pogačar can take all three himself this year....🏆🏆🏆
