lake of the ozarks area welcome folks
I live in Wisconsin and have a Son and his family that live in Missouri. They would like us to move down there but I am worried about this being tornado alley. They live in Christian county near Springfield and I always see bad weather there on the news. I love your channel keep up the great videos. I learned of this channel from the Homestead Tessie channel.
We love MO! But, yes, we probably get 2-3 siren worthy storms a year 😬

#Blessed ... I love living in Missouri, too! Taxes are lower in most places and cost of living is much cheaper than other states. I'd hate to buy a house in San Fran. $$$ :O
Kinda late to the ball, we're looking and Missouri is in our top few states because of the lack of gov't regs... Is there a resource that details each counties building and animal regulations? Also, would love to hear the cons as well. Tornadoes? Grow season to short? etc. Great video, subscribing!
Thanks for stopping by! I have never seen a resource for all counties together...you probably would want to just look county by county. Our biggest cons are clay heavy soil and occasional tornadoes (but we've never personally had that issue). Also, I feel like the fall growing season is like a week too short for a good second harvest. We're trying to extend that this year with a winter tunnel. But overall we really like Missouri! Land is cheap if you don't mind being far from the big cities.

We lived there in 2000. Homeschooling and dreaming of homesteading where we were. We sold all of our goats, chickens, pigs and rabbits to come there. Regrettably I had just lost my mother and felt the need to move back home to Illinois! The taxes, cost of living, cheaper groceries were amazing while we were there! - Dawn
We really like living here too...I've always thought it would be cool to live in the mountains, but Missouri is definitely home!

Liking this series. We just bought place in Springfield, Queen City of the Ozarks. I too old to homestead now. Need close to hospital, etc. But love homestaeding!!

What areas would u recommend? We will be relocating to Missouri within the next six months. My husband will have to work in St Louis for a while but we do not want to live anywhere near st. Louis. Ideally we would like to live at least 45 minutes out.Are there any areas you guys recommend as far as safe and good family-oriented ?we want to eventually move out into the Ozark area, God willing, but that's going to be a few years from now.
What county are you in? If you dont mine me asking. My Hubby and kids and I hope to move within the next year or two. We do want livestock and gardens. Thanks
Great channel! Awe, some of my favorite people (family members) live in Montgomery City, Wellsville, Martinsburg and Mexico! My mom’s family is from Montgomery County and my dad’s from Audrain County.

Southern Missouri has land that is really cheap with few to no restrictions. It's a pretty great state, but we're a little biased!

Not having to get a permit for every little thing is WONDERFUL!! I wanted to put up a privacy fence. Found out I would need a $40 permit. Guess what I did NOT do.

1 . husband's family 2 .my family 3.job-family owned business 4. homeschool laws 5.we own our home here; it's the home I grew up in! I could probably sum it up with 1, lol- FAMILY, in some way shape or form!
Family is a big reason we love Missouri, it's great to have that relationship and support system so close by!

Welcome to Missouri! I was born and raised in the Ozarks, and my family has been here since the 1840's on the same property. Enough about me! I just want to try and impress a few things on you and anyone else who might be thinking of moving here. The reason we have such low cost of living, low taxes, little to no zoning/building codes, great gun laws, is because most county offices in little towns are controlled by republicans, and have been for generations. If liberal minded folks move here because of all of the low cost living and personal freedoms and start voting democrats into offices, all of these great things will disappear. Taxes will go up. Gun regulation will start, cost of living will go up. Please, you're welcome here, but please don't come and destroy my homeland by leftist liberal voting.
I've lived in Missouri my whole life too Sterling. I think most people watching this channel and thinking of moving here would want to live the homestead lifestyle and want privacy and small government too. Thank you for the comment!!
@@TealHouseFarm , Thank you for the reply! I thought one of the two of you had grown up here. There are getting to be quite a few YT channels about people homesteading in the Ozarks. I know a lot of young people are leaving the east and west coast areas and looking for better places to live. Some of them might not understand that how they vote makes a much bigger difference than they might think. Democrats in office bring taxes, regulation, less freedom. It took me a few years to grasp that myself. States like Colorado have been transformed because of people fleeing the high cost freedom deprived coasts, and then they vote the same things into their new host States. Sometimes if you try to explain that to them they get angry, think you're a racist hater and don't listen. I just don't want that to happen to the Ozarks.

I was a Democrat until recently but even as a black person I realize I enjoy my freedoms too. Thinking about moving there and living my life how I wanna without the government involved.
