Tip for owning a bare steel bar: don't let chalk cake up on the knurling for very long, or it's a breeding ground for rust, especially if the bar will be kept in a less insulated/more humid environment, like a garage. Brush any chalk accumulation off the bar after every workout. It only takes a minute. Use a nice, stiff bristled nylon brush, or a brass bristle brush. If you let too much rust accumulate, the rust plus the intensive process of cleaning it off can wear down/soften the intensity of the knurl quite significantly. I learned this the hard way.
I left mine standing in the corner of me bedroom for a year. When I finally decided to use it, the end of the bar that was pointed up had collected lots of dust and was rusted. Houston humidity is brutal.

I liked this vid because I learned something about what to look for in a bar.

How does this bar match up to the B&R bar?
If the bars are comparable and one wanted to support your efforts more, would this be the bar to get?
I have been using this bar for 7 months now and I can tell you first hand it’s fantastic, you will not find a bigger bang for the buck.

That's a great price and I've been thinking abt a new bar. Will really have to consider this one.
I keep my basement humidity around 50% year-round because I have musical instruments there in addition to my rack and barbells/plates. My current Rogue bar is zinc coated (shaft and sleeves) and no problems with corrosion or rust. Is 50% humidity too high for this bare steel SS bar w/r/t corrosion or rust?
How does the knurling compare to the Texas power bar?
Still a total pain in the ass for a coastal garage gym. What you call patina there, is all out rust here.

I had the same question and wrote to the manufacturer texaxpowerbars - they said this is the nearest to a smooth finish out of all their bars
Anyone end up getting it? I went with the all american and my deep dish plates scream when putting them on.way louder then rogue power bar sleeves.was also wondering if the ss and aa have same knurl.

mjs0686 B&R 2.0 is 29mm vs 28.5mm, only 20kg, dual marks, center knurling. I enjoy the knurling.
Looks like it has smooth and not ridged sleeves.

All steel bar . I assume you would need to oil the entire bar for maintenance and reduce rust especially in hot humid environments? Just ask ing ...
Oil is not needed as long as you brush any chalk buildup out of the knurling after every workout, and perhaps give the entire surface a nice brushing every so often to disrupt any surface buildup of rust. Black oxide buildup is good, orange rust buildup is bad.

@@anthonyluisi7096 If you keep it in a humid environment, yes, you need to wipe it down and oil it after every workout. I have a bare steel Ohio Power Bar, and it gets a bit rusty even when I brush the chalk and oil it every time.

Can someone explain why the bars are in kilos if we’re all using pounds?
Very few bars are actually in pounds. Most "45 pound" bars are actually 20 kg. That being said once you add collars it ends up being 45 lb anyway
