There is nothing better than being happy with what you have. If you live yearning to have what is fashionable, thinking that it will be better, you will live forever waiting. It's good to see you again, greetings.

4/3 to micro 4/3. Very cool. I am ready for a cam & lens combo that has shutter speeds & apertures. Not much else. I grow weary of programming. I started my m4/3 journey with a 12 mp olympus. My FF cams sit on a shelf.

I totally Agree. I am sort of int he same boat that you are. I am totally happy with what I have, if I was a professional or making my living in photography I would have the best equipent that I could afford. Making a living sort of changes things . But im like you I don't. I enjoy your commentary and your channel.

Thanks for sharing. For some reason I’m not getting your notifications. Will work on that.

    _ Greetings.
_ Go ahead - Challenge the mind to escape its conditioned limitations.
_ You will discover that it cannot escape. It is a phantom running on habit.
_ You determine and initiate all creativity - not the mind, which can only mimic.

prime lenses are not needed anymore. own a couple zooms and your good to go. if you want your zoom pics look like prime pics just use the sharpen tool on your software.

Primes have other attributes than sharpness. I get your sentiment though.

I agree that primes are no longer necessary, I just find that limiting myself to one focal length makes me think more about the scene before I shoot. My most used lens is a 14-150mm f4-5.6 because it does everything reasonably well, but I still enjoy the 17mm as a challenge (and for its size). Thanks for the very relevant comment.

Ira: I’ve enjoyed your discussions on gear for many years. I recently purchased an iPhone and have been very pleased with it’s camera’s performance for my casual photography. Undecided, if I should invest a substantial amount of money and upgrade my current Pentax SLR system, with an entirely new mirrorless system, knowing the iPhone camera, for most pictures, does a great job for me. Your thoughts?

Honestly, if you have lenses for the Pentax to cover what the phone cannot I would just keep the Pentax kit and use the phone for all of the casual photography (and even most travel photography). I don't use my phone much mostly because I enjoy the experience of using a camera but the phone (I have a Google Pixel 6) takes fantastic pictures in the wide to normal range.

Very practical advice, but like you, I do enjoy the dedicated camera experience. I’ve been thinking of possibly moving into the Fuji camera family of bodies and lenses. I prefer the aps-c sensor, and my research indicates that the Fuji products have been well received by enthusiast photographers. Your thoughts on Fuji would be appreciated. Please let me know if there is another brand you feel I should consider. As mentioned, I enjoy your discussions. Keep up the good work!

I will be shortly be taking a trip through the US Southwest I am taking three lenses and one camera body a Pentax K3mark 3 I bought used a Pentax 16-50 2.8 SDM Star lenses and a Pentax 55-300 PLM WR and a 150-450 WR lens I also bought used. That should cover all the focal lengths I need with a weather sealed camera and weather sealed lenses
