- We learn about and drive a 1942 LP2 Bren Gun Carrier. It's a troop transport used mostly by Australian, New Zealand and British forces. The "Mainly Military Museum" in Featherston, New Zealand let us drive it around the lot. The curator, Steven, is a great guy! Thanks

Mr Regular, would you recommend the Bren carrier as a first car?
I think it's a perfect first car for a student. Open top, V8, reinforced steel shell - it's a winner!
A S T H E T I C
If we are talking about a first car for a high schooler, I would recommend to take out any machine guns from there first. Just saying.
@@Dmochkin And its far more capable than Jeep Wrangler or any 4x4!
@@gergosoos2870 Does not need VTEC, it has massive steel hull.
"Mr. Griffin, a car is fine, but the tank is a TANK!".
"I see, and does the sedan protect against missile attacks?"
"It does not."

I’m from NZ and I’m like “oh Mr Regular must be in Australia”. Smfh what a disgrace of a Kiwi I am.
Hand in your citizenship Sir.
Well you looked at military equipment kiwi to jail with you for 14 years
So did I! I've been living in the UK for the past two years though so the kiwi/auzy accent has kind of merged into one
First thing to do with guns I've seen NZ not ban
Yet
Just need a good deck cleaner to find a Kiwi.
Hold up hold up he said 1942 not 52' quite the April Fools there pal
Everyone: "Lol, that's not a regular car. Mad April Fools joke!"
Me, a rural Aussie: "Now this is a regular car. I wonder if I can pinch Mr. Smith's to pull that stump out?".
These things are bloody everywhere down here.
What do they go for down under?
2 Kangaroos and a wallaby.

xNiceNoNikx Restored ones are pretty pricey. There was a fairly rusty but running original on Gumtree a few months ago for $900 though.

I'm losing my freaking mind over this episode, I LOVE THE BGC.
RCR, the type of channel not to post a April fools video on April fools
I've said this before. I love Mr Regular. Love the reviews. He's a fantastic writer. But boy, oh boy...
for a car guy, he is the scariest and most disjointed driver. I mean, I would let him drive my car for sure, but I would be on one ass cheek the whole time.
Now that’s a regular car if I’ve ever seen one.
Great clip !. 15 APRIL 1942
Pahiatua’s Gift of Bren Gun Carrier.
A Bren gun carrier presented by the residents of Pahiatua district was driven up to the grounds of Parliament House yesterday and was there formally accepted on behalf of the Government by the Minister of Defence (Mr. Jones). The carrier was handed over by Mr. Godfrey Taylor, representing the Mayor and councillors of Pahiatua. Mr. Taylor, a resident of Pahiatua for 40 years, was the originator of the gift.

With the Tirer Tank, this must be one of the best sounding vehicule of WWII! AWESOME STUFF!!!! Lucky you driving one of these. After all these vehicules you drove, this is the one I'm the most jealous about!
Thanks for reviewing this historic fighting vehicle. My grandfather used this in the Battle of the Scheldt and the Liberation of Holland. First configured for the bren gun and he lost many ammunition feeders as they had no shield. after it was fitted with a small dozer blade and became a flame thrower. he carried the bren and used it by hand. it was very effective that way. He would often have fellow comrades go around a ss column and start firing from one angle , while he and others, being fom the south Shore nova scotia , they all spoke fluent lowland german and would call out to the enemy saying it was safe where they were, and as they got close, would let loose with the bren and flame thrower. once he kbmnocked down a dyke with the dozer blade to halt a panzer formation . it was nimble and quick . very effective against large tanks. Think toyota tacoma or isuzu luv with a gun and flame thrower. just like technicals were in the defence of Moghadishu. and today in the defence of Yemen against saudi invasion.
... he was with canadian 1st div, west novia scotia regiment.
love the road runner horn.

There’s nothing better than a sleepless night watching your videos.
My great grandfather and another soldier died in one of these in WW2. They stayed in a shootout to the death so the rest of their battalion could escape. I've never seen one of these but I was always told the story about my my great grandfather the war hero and a bren gun carrier.
You know he's a motorcyclist when he has earplugs ready.
Damn it's so nimble!
That looks fun!
It darts around a lot faster than I expected.

He needs to get it onto a tray. 9/10. He did say "Nice" so it was great.
That van at 5:21 must have been shitting their pants
"OH FUCK THE ARMY'S AFTER ME"
Love the engine sound
My grandfather operated one of these mounted with a flamethrower for the RCA.
My Dad used to love driving these
Quite the unique car, if expensive. It has a relatively poor MPG of 7.5 and tracks need replacement more often than tires. On top of this it lacks a roof and requires a fair bit of maintenance, which isn't helped by the fact that it's from 1942. As for positive aspects, it's a Bren Gun carrier, making it infinitely more cool than anything else
NOT A CAAAAARRRRRR
Man this thing looks like a hoot to drive! Sounds sweet and looks dangerously quick (especially considering the fact that there are no seatbelts, that the suspension is a rigid as a the spine of a jellyfish and that the steering is pretty much all or nothing with 360°of play in it).
Finally decided on my 1st vehicle for high school
Are you gonna LS swap though?
I'm in the market for a long distance daily... This would definitely deal with the kangaroos on the road.
VERTHASAMVS on a long enough time line
What you did there...
I see it.
Tip o'the hat for the headphones warning! Well played.
Yes. A thousand times yes.
Sweet (and rare) Dodge Power Wagon Carryall parked next to it. Friend of my dad's has two.
I love how that tank sounds with the v8. To me, it sounds like an old Silverado from the 1980s with a small block in it. Also interesting to see it has a steering wheel and h shifter like a car. Normally most tanks have levers to steer and a foot shifter like a motorcycle. Just a really cool machine.
No tank I'm aware of has a foot shifter... but a T34 has a shift lever and a shift lever shifter (aka an engineer's hammer to get the lever moving when it decides it don't wanna shift).
A lot of British tanks did have preselectors though, that might be what you're thinking. You set the next gear and it shifts when you clutch it. Still using a hand lever for selection though...
Yeah, I could daily this!
This looks very different than the tracked vehicle I drove a few times as a kid. That was an International TD18, and you pulled levers to make it turn.
It was also rather unusual in that it was a diesel tractor that started on gasoline.
Living up to the name REGULAR CAR reviews, maybe in Australia it is, the land of Mad Max, Kangaroos and pouches and poisons.

It sounds amazing thou!
Come up to Canada to the Ontario Armoured Regiment Tank Museum. They've got a load of tanks that run if you're looking for a running tank.

It's pretty cool that the girl from Napoleon Dynamite was in the carrier with you.
