Hold up, so the Enyaq wins even with its buggy software because the Ioniq 5 is "trying too hard"? What the hell kind of conclusion is that?! The Ioniq has loads more kit and looks much nicer to me atleast.

@@obidean3964 i agree with you that the ioniq seems like objectively the better car. But I think what they mean is that the design is polarizing. Most people will think the enyaq looks just fine. But i think you will find more people who either hates or loves the ioniq.
@@audunskilbrei8279 The problem is Enyaq not even pleasant to look at, at least to my eyes. The proportion especially so bulbous and ungainly, looks more like fat ass MPV than a futuristic EV. Not just this, ID4 too, not to forget Mach E and Model Y which looks exactly like big ass computer mouse with 4 wheels lol. Not a fan of many of these electric SUV especially the ones with sloppy roofline.
At least Ioniq design takes different approach, looks more like big hatchback, really love it and like many said, it's like the rebirth of legendary Lancia Delta Integrale, further adds to the novelty ...
@@obidean3964 I test drove both - despite not have the 350W charging capability (not very common to find anything much over 50w outside London in UK at the mo), the regen and adaptive cruise / autopilot was far superior to the Ioniq - close to if not on a par with tesla and far more luxurious inside in the suite spec. Surprised me as i thought i would be dead set on Ioniq but a little disappointed when i sat in it - crazy to say this but the Enyaq interior WOWed me more!! (must be getting old!)
For me the Hyundai although I’m tempted by the Kia that’s soon to arrive.

Enyaq for me. Way better looking, the Ioniq is indeed trying to look futuristic to a point where it just starts to look silly imo. But that's personal preference. 125 kw charging is enough, although the ioniq do win on that part. But I also like the interior, not to mention the physical buttons instead of touch that you have to look at to find. The skoda feels more like a well balanced family car while the ioniq is more of a futuristic concept car. Both great cars though :)
Ioniq 5 easily the best, design looks a little aggressive but still subdued for the daily routine of life chores.
External & Internal charging for devices. Has blind spot cameras in the displays.
I would chose the Ionic 5 every time because of the looks, the features and the fast charging. No contest.

Unquestionably the Ioniq 5 for me. I feel the technology is more advanced (800V, V2L) and retro design to my liking = more smiles per miles 😀

Then why do you think other electric cars didn't adopt this technology?
The reason is that other manufacturers know that applying V2L to electric vehicles without stable technology would be a very dangerous choice.

Nice review but I think you lose a bit of credibility saying the Ionic is ‘trying too hard’ because it has better gadgets and saying the Skoda is better looking - it follows the styling of many other cars right now. It’s like you’re trying to make it a close fight when in reality it isn’t. Your videos are great and clear but I’ll stop watching if the commentary doesn’t match.

I think Ioniq 5 for me. I like that it looks more modern and from a perspective of someone who drove it over 1000 Km, the ride is smooth and comfortable. Hyundai and Kia are doing well with their designs recently.
The Ioniq 5 would be for sure my choice of these two EV's...
Charging speed is where the Ioniq 5 wins...

@@dewildepaulus IF you can find a 350W charger - very rare outside of London in UK.. and apparently above 80% the Enyaq keeps up a fairly high charge rate where as Ioniq slows to a trickle.
Ionic absolutely smashes the Enyaq on design, it makes the Czech look dated already
Interesting..for me who has driven a Seat Ronda (sibbling of Fiat Ritmo) in the 1980th the Ioniq is the old fashioned car. This is good old italian design from the 80th...in a new er dress. Inside it looks like a bad copy of the Mercedes MBUX System.
It's down to preference in design.
Personally I dislike the design of the Ioniq 5, which is also why I didn't even consider this and the Kia EV.6 😬
I love my Skoda Octavia and the Enyaq shares a lot of similar design features.
I guess everyone has a different taste and that's normal, but the ENYAQ iV just looks much more appealing to me. Also, I've had a ŠKODA before and it was just a long lasting and reliable car. Didn't need any major repairs.
charging speed is dated already. this is what people will judge ev cars in a couple of years. so don’t buy relic now
Like most others, I think I5 wins over enyaq. The I5 is comfortable and how often do you actually drive sporty. Fast charging and lots of equipment + design is a nobrainer.
Kia ev6 is lower and more sporty, and has less space in the back seat and less luggage.
+ is 7 y warranty. The competition is between I5 and model y.
The Hyundai interior is very dated, doesn't much the outside

It’s the Ioniq5 for me, much better styling and an overall better car.
Ioniq 5 wins hands down. It's (a lot) cheaper than the Enyaq when you've specced the Enyaq. And the charging is fabulous. It doesn't matter if the range is better in Enyaq, overall travel time is still shorter in the Ioniq.
The Enyaq charges almost as quick and with the Ioniq your looking for 800v chargers. The Enyaq is much cheaper even with the options specified the same as the base Ioniq.
And 90% of the time you charge at home. So if you ignore 800v, enyaq offers more
@@scottwills4698 You do not need to look for 800V chargers. The Ioniq still charges faster on ANY DC fast charger, even the antique 50kW ones. To get the charging speed from 1/4 up to half of that of the base model Ioniq, you drop the first 500 quid on an Enyaq. Yes, it then still takes twice as long to charge as the base model Ioniq. To max out warranty (which is then still worse than what you get for the Hyundai) you cough up over 1k. Satnav costs you 600 for the most basic variant. And then,
-Adaptive cruise control: 600 quid
-Rear view camera: 500 quid
Heated front seats: 400 quid
-etc, etc,
Mate, with the base model Enyaq you get a steering wheel and seats, that's it.It lacks even some of the most basic equipment you get with an i10 for £10k

Ioniq 5 without question, and kia ev6 are next generation vehicles, v2l, 800 volt charging, interior layout, they stand out... the other one is a car with an electric motor
In Denmark the Ioniq wins for sure. A fulle loaded Skoda is 1/3 more expensive compared to the Ioniq in ultimate trim. The software in all the cars on MEB platforms still sucks, and the charge speed is so much last year. Only thing the Skoda has going for it, is the matrix light. But Ionoiq has alot more great features. I do understand if the design of the Ioniq is not for everyone, but then I would go for the EV6.
That is not true.
With pretty much the same spec as I picked with my Enyaq 80 Plus it comes down to 1000-1500 euros, which isn't that much considering the overall price of the car.

I'm so happy I went for the Enyaq. Had a test drive in the Ioniq, EV6 and some other EVs and it just didn't feel as right as the Škoda one.

Enyaq doesn't have much of anything standard. It's a pain in the butt. Their pricing model is death by a thousand paper cuts. Both cars have decided to make heat pumps optional (Hyundai has standard on top model). The Hyundai driven here will likely have better real world range in anything but summer driving because of the heat pump. The Hyundai also has a frunk, which you didn't count in storage space, so that is a push.
Heat pump on the Ioniq 5 is not standard on any model in the UK.
your reports are very biased most uk reviews say this car is the best cuv ev on the market to-day also you did not mention the faster aceleration or V/L remote parking ease to get out of passenger side light superior looks and external lights relaxation seats, electric rear seats, solar glass etc etc
Drove both today ,my choice is the Skoda Nicer intereor and a very nice car overall
Just ordered my full option ionic5. The space….. The power…… the charging…….. the eniaq is also a great car though. Single engine in eniaq made me definitely switch to the ionic.
Fascinating reading all the reviews. So many of you loving the Ionic design which is surprising considering the Enyaq is a beautiful looking car. Amazing so many people prefer the Ionic in all areas. As only a couple of people in the reviews mention however, MASSIVE difference in price.
The only EV I’ve driven is an Enyaq & yes it is not very exciting, but with that boot space & price differential, there’s no contest. Just a 7 month wait now for it to arrive!
The smaller battery 60 is still guaranteed to get over 200 miles. Simple trim, nothing fancy on the back seat, however specced up to the Max in the 2 front seats including HUD for 36k......

Hyundai Ioniq 5 premium RWD
We were originally going for the enyaq, but the waiting time was hilariously long and with all the options (not 100% top-spec) it was a bit too expensive. And then the Ioniq 5 came into the picture, and we just instantly fell in love, the retro Lancia Delta design, the sharp look, and the open interior design, and the super fast delivery time.
From the first time driving it to delivery it was only just over a month, maybe a month and a half. that is really impressive when you take into consideration that the numbers we go on ENyaq and ID.4 was in Feb-April...
We got it this week and wow, what a car, I must say it is a joy to drive, we have the RWD premium model, and I can't say we regret opting for the RWD version, the longer range, lower price, and faster delivery were well worth it. I love its quirkiness, I love all the little bits and bobs that make this car special, I would absolutely recommend buying it if it is in consideration.
And the HUD is just amazing, I rarely feel the need to look down at the main display, the HUD is just that good and clear.
The only thing that I'm a tiny bit disappointed about is the infotainment system, it is good and works well enough (Better than the VW-groups system) but nowhere near Polestar (/Volvo) and Tesla's responsiveness and design. The Android auto has been laggy and slow by my experience, but that may be a problem with my cable I don't know...
All in all, I love this car and I would not trade it for any of its competitors, not even the Porsche Tycan. 9.5/10 Love it.
I just test drove the Enyaq. It’s…nice. It’s…practical. It’s…just a tad boring 🤓
The iv60 is very good value (after the grant), but the DC charging speed is already outdated. Which makes long journeys difficult, and I think will seriously affect the residuals in 3 years time.
I had the same feeling after my test drive; I also found it a tad slow on takeoff too, as though it hesitated momentarily before getting going, and that was the (slightly) more powerful iV80 too.
It doesn't seem like the VW-group were considering Telsa at all when they built any of their new cars, just their traditional competitors, which feels like a real missed trick given Model 3 is selling the most of all cars right now, and once Model Y is available, I'm sure it will sell well too. I'm sure the build quality and service will be better, but plenty of people will plump for a Tesla instead, based on better charging and performance alone, let alone the increased range.

@@damienhoneyford2088 I wouldn't be so sure on the model y. It's an expensive car, and they will offer only the long range and performance models at the start. It will have to beat the quality of the Q4, eqa and ix3 to convince people to go with an American car. There are so many other nice cars coming like the i4 or xpeng's p7.

Here in Denmark, the Skoda is a nogo! Here it's £55k in Sportline trim, where the Hyundai is £45k for the 4WD 306hp version.

Then again. Skoda has a bigger boot, a rear wiper, 5 years included service deal and a shorter delivery time. I spoke to 2 Hyundai dealerships yesterday, they said if I ordered ioniq 5 today, I can expect deliver in 8-9 month. What a joke!

Skoda only has a little bit bigger boot. No fast charging. No 5 year warranty. No 230 volt. And the Ioniq 5 looks cool. The Skoda looks like every other boring car.
@@Antraxx84 Same feeling here about the plastic. Also even if you choose to go with black interior it still comes with white lcd panels with those horrible bezels. Also didn't Hyundai issue a recall due to coolant leakage?

I absolutely love the looks of the Ioniq 5 and have done from the day I first saw it. I also think the Kia EV6 looks anything but more mainstream. The looks of that car have grown on me, albeit at slower rate than the Ioniq 5.
I went to see the Ioniq 5 - all very excited!!! By chance there was a Skoda garage next door - with an Enqaq with 21' wheels on and black leather interior. Wondered between the two showrooms and much to my surprise walked away preferring the Enyaq in the right colour, spec and wheels - it still comes in cheaper. Maybe its just me but the interior of the Ioniq was a bit too bland and plasticy, though that is the modernist style i suppose!

Really helpful review. have driven and almost decided to buy an Enyaq 80 with heat pump etc etc. It drove beautifully, if not very excitingly and swallows mountains, though lack of anything like a flat floor is irritating. But whoa now in a real dilemma as I regularly drive long distances fully laden and hate stopping. Plus the salami slicing pricing of VAG group really irritates me. Looks like Ioniq really want their customers to enjoy their cars and spec accordingly, my only real concern is lack of a dark interior for the Ioniq, that beautiful light seating and trim looks like it would very soon look worn. Maybe I will just wait a while and hang on to my Audi and watch these wonderful new launches unroll before committing. It feels that with so much change you are not going to regret hanging back a bit.
I just got an Ioniq 5 and it makes me grin like a little kid every time I drive it.
So far I've test driven an ID.4, Enyaq iV, Audi Q4 (last week), and an Ioniq 5 (yesterday!). For me the Ioniq is better to drive, it feels more planted on the road and more comfortable. It's also quicker in mid-range spec. The top, 4wd Ultimate edition, is quicker still (0-60 in 5.2 seconds), and at £48k is cheaper than any of the, slower, VAG cousins when they are similarly spec'd. In addition the Hyundai has cable storage at the front, not under the boot. Finally the sliding rear seat on the Hyundai increases boot space whilst still allowing a 6' adult to sit in the rear behind another 6' adult. In fact in that configuration, rear seats in mid fore/aft position, I measured the boot dimensions of the Hyundai compared to my Audi A6 estate, we were surprised to discover that the boot dimensions are, within less than an inch, the same. We are going to swap my wife's SQ5 for an Ioniq 5, same performance, space, and a damn sight cheaper to run. The only quandary is whether to go for matte gold or teal blue.

I feel like you should feature Aptera as well in your excellent car reviews. They do deserve to get a lot more attention, because nobody else comes closes in terms of.... well, just about everything they're doing. Not to mention their car looks soooooo cool !
Nice comparison, but how can you "try to much" as a car? It is actually very clean and simple looking and I personally think it will age very well.
Ioniq 5 is much more technologically advanced and looks unique, unlike generic Skoda or actually any other manufacturer forcing the family look.
Also not mentioning a V2L is a bit of a fail. Also the fact that it ofers a solar roof in some countries... So much cool factors in that car that I have easily ruled out all of the competitors and have ordered mine with shooting star gray matte color. Can't wait 🙂

The I5 certainly has unusual styling (but by that logic the Model Y is pretty strange too), but there's nothing particularly "weird" about the I5 aside from that. It's all pretty standard faire electric car stuff (if anything, it's more conventional than, say, tesla).

From what I've seen it would be the Ioniq 5 for me but with the Kia on the horizon with their EV6 I think i would like the body of the EV6 but the interior of the Ioniq 5.

One important difference not mentioned here is the Hyundai can pull 1600 kg on its towbar (at least the large-battery-size models). That means it can handle a seriously sized caravan. The Skoda, on the other hand, tops out at 1000 kg. That doesn't rule out a caravan completely, but it severely limits your options in that respect. Still, towing any size caravan is going to impact your range drastically, which actually makes the fast-charge capability of the hyundai an even more important feature for caravan-people (assuming either car is practical for that purpose at all)
What I would really like to see is an in-depth look at the rear seats, as I happen to have 3 kids to stow back there, and neither of these cars has 3 independent seat in the rear, even as an option.

Skoda just killed the enyaq with their pricing structure. Way too many add ons. Even still, I don’t think I’d choose one over the Hyundai.
Or, provided customers with lots of choice. RRP below £35k so qualifies for Govt grant - but you can spec up if you wish

I’ve driven both cars and although I liked the Enyaq my wife found it a little bouncy as a passenger which made her feel a bit car sick. The Ioniq on the other hand she loved being a passenger in as did I to drive. Decided on an ioniq5 premium with the bigger battery to replace my BMW 225xe phev. Lots of good cars out there but I just loved the concept car looks of the Hyundai the long warranty and reliability of the brand.
What kind of version of Enyaq do u have in the UK? all new enyaqs have 125kw's charging now as far as i know?
Already decided, swapped my model 3 for an enyaq and an delighted with the decision. Really very good car. I like the way you assume there's lots of chargers that can charge the ioniq faster, right now there aren't. Most of the new chargers are 150 kW so that wipes out its big selling point
Only reason I haven't really seriously decided yet to order the Ioniq 5 yet is the impending arrival of the EV6. It really is tantalizing. I definitely want to test that car before I commit.

All the others mentioned are in a different class, Model Y and IPace, Mach-E is close, but the lease is loads more money. Also love that they all miss that the Ioniq's seats go forward and then can recline. Not only did this make the boot longer, but there is a big gap down the back of the seats that can take some pretty big bags if you are going on holiday!
I rather have a car that "try to hard" than one that looks tired straight from the dealership

No contest, it's the Ioniq 5. Interesting that they didn't mention one of the most unique things about the Ioniq 5 and that is its V2L feature. There was also no mention of the relaxation seat mode with foot rest. For some reason they were downplaying the Ioniq 5 to make the Skoda Enyaq loot better. That is suspect and weird.

Very time I see the Ionqi 5 it reminds me of the Austin Maestro in terms of design. The charging times for Ioniq 5 gives its the upper hand on the Skoda. But I think the Skoda will age better. Really like the comparison reviews. Well done.
appears this going to be the common size for current and future EVs. strategy similar to smartphones where a larger screen is generally premium and allows for more battery capacity/performance

Is there esimations on the cost of service ?
It is true that the Ioniq 5 looks nice and modern and the charging is faster in optimum temperature range. At the same time some of it’s features are not best suited to cold and dark conditions. Headlights are very poor, charging speed is considerably slower when the outside temperature drops below 0 degrees (celsius) and there is no wiper on rear window. I understand that cars are mostly sold and driven in countries or areas where are no snow and ice but still the best cars are the ones that keep going whether it is hot or cold.
For me it'll depend on the lease prices and if my company is willing to pay those prices. It would be lovely to actually have a choice and possibly the EV6 as well? 🙏

The Enyaq is very good looking in it's own right, but it still reminds me of a tank. The Hyundai's strange retro-futuristic design doesn't appeal to me, but it looks like there's far more light in the cabin, which I really do like.

Yeah it's pretty crazy, if someone told me 20 years ago a Hyundai and a Skoda would be offering some of the most forward looking cars on the road today I would think she or he is crazy!
Enyaq for the boot space. A must for anyone with dog and kids. Waiting for the i D Buzz and hoping the pricing is sensible.
These are my two favourite electric cars, and to have to choose between the two is really difficult - but as a married man with 2 kids off to Uni, I'd have to go with the Skoda Enyaq.
Upon startup does the Skoda Enyaq play "Orinoco Flow," "Caribbean Blue" or another of her songs like "On my way home"?

The Ioniq 5 - everything about it says it will hold it's value better and i prefer the looks, especially the inside.
The Enyaq is like your another crossover, the 2nd row seat doesn't even folded flat

I am currently trying to make this decision. Took an Enyaq for a test drive today, and it felt really good to drive. I like the fact that it is taller than my current car, has lots of space, and just looks like my kind of car. Delivery is an issue, though, as there's a long wait. I'll be test driving an Ioniq 5 very soon. Looking forward to that.

@@SuperMixedd I went for the Ioniq 5. :) It was even nicer to drive, and it comes with all the features by default. With the Enyaq, there were a bunch of optional extras for which they were charging extra. The Ioniq also had a somewhat shorter delivery time, although it turned out not to be as short as originally promised.
@@TheSwiftFalcon ok yes it also feels like the base model for enyaq is cheaper than the base model ioniq but once you start adding a bigger battery and some important features like heat pump, the enyaq's price flies to the moon suddenly;

@@SuperMixedd The 77, I don't think the other one was even an option. I think this varies by country, but here in Norway, the only options are AWD or RWD, and tire size. For equipment, there's only the "Premium" model, which includes everything. I personally prefer this to the Enyaq's many optional packs, which as you pointed out, get expensive really quickly.

IONIQ 5 wins by a mile for me. I really dislike that front grille on the Enyaq, which looks plasticky and is completely unnecessary on an electric car. Plus I prefer the relaxed interior of the IONIQ 5. Finally, even on a long trip I rarely drive for more than about 230 miles without stopping, so the faster charging, rather than longer range, is the better option. But, as mentioned at the start of the video, isn’t it great we all have so much choice to be able to meet all the different tastes there are.
Design is personal so for me... the enyaq wins. but... I would buy the ioniq 5 due to the more future proof (charging)hardware and it can pull more weight then the enyaq as well.
Sure, spec them both up to £45k and you'd probably choose the Ioniq. But which one are you choosing at £31.5k (what I paid for mine)? Yep, at the more affordable end of EV ownership the Enyaq is pretty much unbeatable.
If you get the RWD Version of the Ioniq5 the luggage capacity is as good as the Enyaq's thanks to the frunk.
Enyaq for me. Every reviewer says the Ioniq 5 is massive. It's not. Go stand next to one and see the sitting position. Guess I need the SUV!
Went to see both. Thought I would be Ioniq all the way - but quality and drive wise Enyaq was a much nicer car
I really like the Ioniq 5, I have Ioniq 1 and it ticks all the boxes. Can’t see how the 5 is worth twice what I paid for the 1 ?
I think these crazy prices are going to chase off a lot of people, but there always appears to be a queue to pay anything fo EV’s I know 🤷🏻♂️
I'm sorry, but you made a mistake with Enyaq's Max Charging rate because you can add an option to charge up to 125 KW (which is included by default in other countries).
hands down ionic 5 for me. just look at it inside and out coupled to tech and charging speed.

Hi, driving on nice roads looks good but the real test of a car is manoeuvrability! How frustrated will I get in a supermarket car park with tight corners? What about parking, both roadside and car park? The Skoda has a tighter turning circle so may be less frustrating. Cheers. T

For me it's purely down to price.
The base model Skoda is waaay cheaper than the Hyundai.
Add to that the bigger boot and I'll take the Skoda.

If you can find a charger that can support the 800 volt system. I'm in California and we don't have all that many 350k chargers. At least we a lot 150k's. For me it would be the Kia EV6 over either of them.
I would pick neither, and go for the EV6. It is a big car, yes, but not necessarily a family car, which makes it great. It is sort of in the same style of an i-Pace and sits neatly between crossover SUVs and normal sedans/wagons. It also just seems more sleek (possibly more efficient/aerodynamic), the interior is loads more interesting to me and it also has a slightly bigger battery than the IONIQ 5, so a win-win.
you are so wrong co-efficient is the same 0.28 its got a load of cheap piano black plastic, lower headroom and legroom smaller boot small single glazed rear windows very bad rear view and in top spec gt-line s is £5000.00 dearer than a fully loaded ionic5
Test drove Enyaq last week and thought it was awesome. Refinement, finish, space all amazing and despite weighing nearly 2 tonnes handles well too thanks to a low centre of gravity and good weight distribution. Will spec the 100kw fast charging although I’ll mostly charge at home. Options bump the price up a lot and it’s tempting to tick every box!
Design is always going to be a matter of personal preference, but you missed an important point - the Hyundai is allowed to pull a larger trailer i.e. 1600 kg vs. 1000 kg at least where I'm living. It may vary from continent to continent. It will of course reduce the range by half or two-thirds, but that goes for both of them.

Heat pump is an option on both cars (outlet is an option too)

I like the design of the Enyaq inside and out more than the Ioniq 5. The Hyundai is not bad but it looks like a CrossOver with a hatchback clothes, in other word a bloated hatchback. Had it been a pure hatchback then i could give it a high score on design, maybe. The Ioniq may have more gadget though.
The Enyaq with brown interior looks so nice. Also like they said Enyac is a proper family car. It will beat Ioniq 5 in boot capacity.
Prefer the looks of the Enyaq and you get more stuff as standard, though forking out for the quicker charger would be a must have. Unless you only charge at home over night. I just don’t like the look of the Ioniq 5. If I wanted a ‘70s looking car, I’d search out Marina 4-dr. As it is, I had a Datsun Cherry 120Y. I don’t want to spend £45k and end up with a similar shaped car. It’s got more up to date tech but looks wise, Hyundai have resurrected the Austin Allegro.
