It blows me away how interpreters can do what they do. Being able to translate, interpret, and then retranslate takes so much mental dexterity. My mind could never. Matt and Itsuno-sama seem to have a wonderful working relationship with each other, and it's been great listening to them riff off each other.
This was a great interview, Suzi, and what an honour to be able to interview these two, even if it meant you had to be up and alert at a super early hour. Hopefully you were able to get some sleep after this.

Some of my pals quit the program at uni because of the pressure. It's easier with practice, but there's always something new to learn or that keeps you on your toes. I used to interpret alot years ago, and it really depends on the type of job I got. If it was someone I interpreted for a long time and I know well, I could really fill in cultural things myself because I know the intention of the person well.
But most jobs were people I just met. These are the hardest. Also, having to learn the lingo of the company I am doing it for (ex. tech company, medical, law etc.) was definitely a homework.
I don’t think this is necessary, but I used to try and sound like a person who works in that company/group. This way the intentions are transferred best between groups.
After the day is over, I was exhausted usually haha. Its mentally taxing.

I have the tendency of saying "like" when nervous as well, especially since English isn't my first language. I would be pretty damn nervous in front of these legends too!

Usually this a west coast thing. I don't think many people say "like" as much as people from California

@@dericmederos1514 yeh but I noticed a lot of Slavic people such as myself and my Polish friends say like at least when talking in voice chats.

This was a super awesome interview! I'm so glad you had the chance to talk with the man himself, was a very fruitful discussion all around. I also thought the Japanese question at the very end was a perfect sendoff, it made me laugh when you said the word "Biohazard" since I knew exactly where you were going with it. Thank you, GamingBrit, and everyone else involved for this!
