    Just wanted to say thank you for backfilling the holes. People come up here all the time and disrespect’s our mountains . It’s kinda sad they leave holes and garbage behind all the time! So THANK YOU for respecting the mountain.

    So I have been going here about ten years.
    I can back fill you in on the sediment of how they form
    Allegedly it was two different ancient geological events where a volcano blew up host rocks to the surface. The older type can have amethyst phantoms in it.
    You basically just look for the crumbled host rock and look below and dig where you think it would collect. Ie physics of them washing down etc.
    I have found some really nice pieces but it took me a while to learn the patterns and where to go etc

      What color is the older, amethyst bearing rock?

    • @stephenenders2066
      @stephenenders2066 Před 9 měsíci +1

      @@BiffTannenBTTF it can vary but is more pop corn texture..alot of times you find purple in darker metalized soil. And slags will be around it too. Game of patterns. I have found some just on surface of dirt roads there. A pocket was likely below the exposed road

    Kudos to Big Jim for sharing spots to Hound @! Fun being a rockhound even better in places that conceal treasure. Do you ever hound in mine tailings, given that it is safe to do so? What kinds of stones/crystals do you harvest there?

    Oh, David. I felt your inpatients 🤣🤣. Too much tedious work for such small results. Jim definitely was into it. Loved the manatee joking. Same humor here. He had some really pretty crystals. What does he do with them? Just display in his own collection or facet them for jewelry?
    I’m really looking forward to the fire agate trip!
    Thanks for sharing and for the new manatee technique 🦭(only found a seal emoji). 😆✌️
    Stay Crystal 💫

    And please do a prospecting video, I'd like to see that too. Maybe get Jim to teach you how to pan first with a few pieces of lead shot. If you can keep the lead in the pan, you'll keep the gold too. Prospecting can be cheap. You can get a pan for like 20$ and a cat litter box or plastic tote to pan into and get by. You could work more material faster though if you use a sluice box in a creek or in a recirculating system with a relatively cheap electric pump.

    I was just there today.... found quite a few in areas people had already left gaping holes in the ground. Diamond Point is my happy place, but it has been decimated over the last few years.

    Lmfao yall are a trip. Throwing elk turds and offering to eat grubs on camera. I would have loved to see him eat it! (They are edible, but I couldn't imagine what they taste like.) As far as what they eat, typically they eat the roots of shallow rooted plants like grasses. Some types of beetle grubs can straight up destroy a lawn here in the eastern US. Those bulbs are interesting too. They might not smell like onion because they were too dry. Next time you could cut into one with a fingernail to expose the inside and try to smell it then. If it doesn't smell like onion or garlic, definitely don't eat it. All of the edible wild alliums will have that distinct smell. There is a toxic lookalike to watch out for called death camas and it doesn't smell like onions but looks very similar.

      From what I've heard, it's because they're double terminated, so they have kind of a similar shape. Supposedly the first settlers that saw them mistook them for diamonds.
