    Hi, first i want to say im a new sub and totally enjoying your adventures.
    When i was little a grandfather of mine would pack up our dirt bikes and we would go to Quartzsite and spend 3 or 4 days on the south side of interstate 10 away from town. Grandpa showed me the very abundant mineral called limonite Cubes. What a trip finding perfectly shape Dice made from mineral. Just a little fun fact of mine i treasure to this day as all my grandparents are gone. Thankyou for sharing your awesome adventures and keeping my memories alive. Dan from Beaver, Ut.

    Careful for snakes, lol. I always get so nervous when you bend down to quickly grab something. I almost got struck yesterday. I'm on the NM side of the AZ/NM border, up on a mesa in a landlocked area of the Gila and Apache. I'm trying to learn geology and have found some really cool spots to fill my pockets with good rocks to polish. Nothing like you found here yet, but I have some good ideas where to hike to and where no one goes :)

    We have hunted Date Creek Crystal's for 20 years and it never ceases to produce nice quartz crystal points of all sizes, some as clear as glass to stained and milky. Usually find some nice perfectly cubed dark brown mineral that I'm thinking are pyrite pseudo maybe. One trip I found a batch of extra sparkly, small dark red crystals all along a big chunk of host rock. Still not sure what that is. And a little bit of chrysocolla too. Where was your screw driver for popping out crystals, and a bag, fanny pack or 5 gallon bucket to load up??
    The west side of the road at the main crystal hill area, has crystals also. Not as much float all over the ground but we've found some very nice, clear, guy finger sized points and glass like, small points that I make earrings out of. Great video, look forward to seeing others.

    Ok so i have found these beautiful quarter size peachy/orange transparent crystals, more rounded than faceted. When holding up in the sun you can see rainbows in the inside breaks. No one has been able to identify them yet. I did have a guy take them to a sander and the orangy peach sanded off. I love that color so ill leave them raw....they would go well with a bronze wrap!

    Elley here in the mountains of eastern Kentucky under a waterfall my sister has been collecting a stone that's very odd. If you hold it in your hand it's like a dark color but at night with a blacklight it glows and it's a beautiful color. And the odd part is this the only place these rocks are at is under the waterfall no where else in that creek has that rock it's only under the waterfall. What kind of rock is it and why is it only found under the waterfall??????

We went hunting out by Gilabend and my husband found a little red rock. Probably nothing of value as far as the market. But huge value to me. It’s shaped like a doves heart. I’ve been asking him to get it made into a pendant for me. Recently we were looking for geodes by Wickenberg but south of Wickenberg. I had no clue how to identify them. Thanks for these videos. • @ElleyKnowsRocks

      Tips for beginners would be to start looking at the base of the hill. If anything is in the hill it’s going to have been washed out and placed of the foot. You can look for small indicators broken or rounded crystals things like that :) indicators are one of the best things that can lead you to hiking up a hill to find where the source is :)

      @@user-ke1yv4ft4iI thought the same- when I got to the end and it’s blocked where like 2 houses r one low one on the hill- so I started heading back to the hwy- about half way I pulled over on a whim- and sure enough there were lil small terminated crystals. I’m assuming it’s like this along that whole road- I found lots of super small terminated and clusters (small) I also saw dog holes where I think people dug down about 12-18’’ looking for them. So ya if u go back check along that road in where it turns into sand stone- I’ll see it ground get sparkly. ( I’m talking about date creek)

    • @lisamanrique1770
      @lisamanrique1770 Před měsícem

      @user-ke1yv4ft4i My husband and I have gone out to Date Creek for crystals for now 24 years. Yes, unfortunately way too much of that land is State Trust Land. BUT, there is one tract of BLM land that is right beside the main crystal hill. Since they put the fence up along Date Creek Rd and have blocked off any of the trails that cross STL in order to get close to the BLM tract - you have to park on the main road and walk across the STL. By all legality of it, you're supposed to buy a permit to even walk on STL. You can camp, hike, bird watch & couple other things, but you can NOT pick up one little rock!! Mind blowing and very unfair - if you aren't familiar with what the purpose of STL is for, read up on it! Has to do with making school revenue! There will NEVER be any school or anything to do with a school way out in the middle of nowhere - so why do they get to keep it in Trust??? Tax payers want to use the land today.
      We didn't pay attention as to where the fence actually started to see if it cut off access to a trail that is a little ways before crystal hill. Use to you could take that trail and park pretty close to the BLM tract. I don't know if the fence blocks that trail too. My husband had a stroke a couple years back and we are very limited to where we can go now. Date Creek is flat enough and we're so familiar with it that he can at least still pick up some crystals and not be far from the car - if you want to chance being STL because he can't walk from the road to the BLM tract!

    • @lisamanrique1770
      @lisamanrique1770 Před měsícem

      @@user-ke1yv4ft4i There is another really good place to find crystals just laying on the ground, it's across from the main hill that's blocked off now, on the left side of Date Creek Rd. But it is also STL!! So unfair!! Typically there is no policing of STL unless some official activity is going on it. There has to be special arrangements made with a Sheriff's office usually when out in the country, for them to be on notice or to be checking people they see out there. Since the fence got put up, that tends to make us leary about some Sheriff showing up and confiscating your gear and your vehicle because you picked up a rock on STL!! I can see them now - hassle the elderly couple especially the man that can barely walk because of a stroke, barely able to bend over to pick up a rock without falling forward - yep, that's breaking news for how to treat US Citizens!!🤔🤨

      its no secret. Take 60 thru Wickenburg, about 20 miles on 93, take a right at date creek ranch road. There is a sign. Go up the road about a mile and a half, on the right is hill an dig area. If you pass thru a cattle guard you have gone to far. The hill is full of holes. Be careful, the dig area, per AZ land management maps appears to be BLM land. The whole surrounding area is State Trust Land. You can not dig on State Trust or even remove rocks. They can take your vehicle and there are fines possible jail time. I would bet half the tea in China that the flat area she was in at the beginning of this video is State Trust

    I have found what I think is a lot of quarts but none that are ones crystal shaped.... just huge chunks... why?

    I'm curious if this was just what was on the surface on a relatively flat plane, if you dug a few feet in the ground, what would you find?
    Also if quartz is connected with gold, if you brought a medal detector would you find some gold pieces?
    **(after watching your full video you kind of answered may question about the gold)
    From what you said it sounds like there are gold in that area. Would it be gold pieces or ore?

    • @ElleyKnowsRocks
      @ElleyKnowsRocks  Před 2 lety

      You could find gold pieces here. If you dug down several feet in the ground you could definitely scream the ground to find more crystals. As they settled they do get buried because the dirt is fine

      Second of all I'd like to tell you that maybe you should come out my way out towards Buckeye.... Where I was working at on a solar plant we found a lot of crystallized that look like tree sap. A place called saddleback mountain and surrounding areas might have a big deposit of what you like to look for. Just a little recommendation.... Happy hunting.

    Just hiked around here for hours and didn't find a single point, just a few broken pieces. I even tried to pin point where you were by the mountains. I was close but clearly far off, no signs of other rockhounding anywhere I went. I'm not sure where the spot is, because everything I've followed online sent me to spots with zero quartz. A little more specific of an area would be great.

      @@ElleyKnowsRocks do you have the rockhounding az book? If so look up bighorn mtns area ,I think it's for selenite found there. Go to the top of that hill and look around. You'll see the main area of collection, bypass that area and head towards the next hill,the veins run through there. We found big plates and alot of chunks. Happy hunting.

    Would have be glad to see the bit where you got "emotional" about rock hounding
    Being passionate about something has different facets, it's not always the typical hype or stoked that is easily displayed
    Decent people respond well to true emotions, especially those that share the passion. No judgment you do you
