The "Saw" theme is the only horror theme that doesn't sound scary at all, but it still makes people tremble with fear. Once those notes started creeping in, you knew it was over for someone.

I wouldn't say the Halloween theme is very scary, but it sends a shiver up my spine.

That feeling of absolute tension when this plays in X, i swear multiple people clapped from that alone.
Definitely! When you realize that each line John said led up to that reveal at the end. I was expecting the reveal to be though that Hoffman or that driver were there the entire time in case something went wrong.
My friend and I literally glanced at each other and grinned. And then yelled happily when Hoffman was in the post credits scene. First time watching a Saw movie in the theatre with other fans, great energy.

The reason I love the first movie the most is because it's more of a thriller than horror and the ending was the first twist to actually get me when I saw it. This song has been engraved in my head since then.

To this day, the ending of the first Saw movie is one of the most haunting endings in history, though somewhat satisfying considering the rather needless plot twist in the sequels.
After years of being traumatised by the movies I can now say I have a greater appreciation for them, including this song

Finally watched Saw for the first time. This makes such a fantastic horror theme because it's *triumphant*. But not for the players.
It laughs in your face. You know it's game over, you KNOW he's won. All you can do is sit there as it all falls into place and the dots connect. It almost feels taunting.

I think what scares me most about Jigsaw/Kramer is that even when he KNOWS he's caught he KNOWS he's old, frail, and with not much time left. But he's always 15 steps ahead of you, no matter how close you are to him, no matter what threats he's under he KNOWS he's gonna win, he knows it's GAME OVER, because he's planned it even during his previous plan. He knows anticipation of human emotions better than most psychologists and he exploits it to teach violent lessons of repent and rebirth. To live your life proudly. And live it well.

The beauty of this theme is that it captures that moment when John told you everything you needed to know to deal with the trap you're placed in. Yeah that line is at 1:34. What I should have said was the buildup and then to the line. That earlier portion is what I always loved about the theme, how the reveal is show and builds, and when it gets to where he said the line, the music turns sad when you realize how doomed the victim is and what he failed to realize on the test.
