    its costing me between 10-12 dollars CAD per pound of grass fed, grass finished from a family ranch (i buy in bulk) but at the same time I am saving money by not buying supplements, meds and other food groups. Health is priceless. Save a lot of money on grocery by not buying, nuts, snacks, vegs and fruits that have also doubled, tripled in price. I am as angry as anyone else about the rising cost of food. Wish we can all move out of the cities and raise our own cows, and chickens and sheep. We can only support these homesteaders by purchasing their meat.

      You need a lot of land for that, you must already own it, are you talking just for food production for yourself? Plus it’s a full time job, not criticizing I’m in the same dilemma. I have a 48 acre ranch in Wyoming but have to buy hay to feed all winter making it very expensive.

    Cattle ranchers need to band together and create their own small processing facilities and sell direct to consumers! Unfortunately this isn't possible due to government intrusion and regulation!

    • @JohnBarr-ys9zl
      @JohnBarr-ys9zl Před 2 měsíci +5

      Sure it is. Go find a cattle rancher near you. They will sell to you, many times deliver to a custom processor that will create the cuts and blends you desire. Many times you can be all in for under $5 per pound
      Dante may not push you away from a conventional grocery store but I will tell you the quality is far superior cutting out the middle man that simply takes a cut from beef many times sourced outside of the US

    Thank you for your informative channel! One objection to raising cattle is the amount of water it takes to grow alfalfa out here in the arid, drought prone west. One solution is regenerative ranching. There are books and videos showing how it works. I am very fortunate to be able to buy grass fed beef at our local meat store, sourced from regenerative ranchers as often as possible. I highly recommend a video of Jordan Peterson interviewing Temple Grandin. Her story is so inspiring and she helps caring ranchers move the cattle gently to slaughter so their final moments are not filled with fear and adrenaline. I eat ground bison and elk rather than ground beef. My favorite cuts of beef are short ribs and regular ribs cooked in the slow cooker until the meat falls off the bone. I also love lamb shanks cooked in the slow cooker. The powers that be are trying to force to eat for their benefit, not our own. We need to band together and not allow them to get away with it!

    After watching this, I ordered meat from local farmer. Wow. What a difference. The meat filled me up and tasted good-pleasurable to eat both their ribeye and hamburger meat (super good).. Yesterday, I cooked Costco Ribeye and couldn't stand the taste, actually it was more than taste, my aversion to the meat kicked in. Never again will my meat come from the store!

    Here in Wyoming where most small operators (under 50-100 head) DO NOT raise the steer but sell either calf cow pairs or they sell the weened calf. THEY DO NOT RAISE THE STEER as this is expensive to feed all winter, they let the feed lots do it.

      @hal7ter Před měsícem

      1:00:31 “They” are after efficiency - dictating to farmers and ranchers in the name of climate change - which is always changing from day to day, season to season.
      Farmers and ranchers don't want to have to deal with politics - they just want to raise their cattle, and children
      We are told that to be efficient, we have to go through a narrow distribution chain with a few people controlling the whole market- and when one thing in that chain goes down, a massive area loses its distribution of food.
      One massive global company cannot be more efficient than 40 ranchers in a small community, and even if it were more efficient, it is detrimental to the people - one might was well have a king or a dictator.
      Democracy is the worst form of government except for all the other forms of government.
      Can we withstand economic shocks, a disease outbreak, natural disasters? We have had antitrust laws to prevent monopolies and the conduct that emanates from them (greed and bullying) The gov DOJ looked the other way in favor of efficiency.
      There is a need now more than ever to regard out antitrust laws. The small meat-packing plants need to be rebuilt but they can't be until there is an opportunity for them to be profitable Activists, animal rights and climate activists will only push us further into imbalance.
      We need the ability of the independent rancher and farmer to be profitable, a disaggragated food production system like we had just a few decades ago, and we need to not have to transport tfood 1500 and two thousand miles just to get it from the source to the consumer, and to decentralize the system we have now. To turn the train around, we have to stop it.
      Keynsian Economics says gov must be involved in economy to keep it safe, and to get out of Economic depression, a gov must spend money, and deficit spending is needed.
      Business can buy out gov to eliminate their competition.
      Monopoly has corruption built into it - you can break up the monoply but that does not rid it of the corruption.

      I did not have any for the first year at least. I eventually wanted to try bulletproof coffee because I was hearing good things. I’ve since found I not only need to avoid butter, but coffee for the intestinal discomfort, and for the negative side effects of stimulants. It’s been a struggle to get it back out of my diet. I’ve quit several times, but my work situation seems to be enabling me to fall back into coffee repeatedly. I’ve quit for the last time (again).
      Many people swear by their coffee, and claim to have no issues from it, I’m just not one of them.
