NEW TO OUR CHANNEL? Watch this first: • How-to Saddle Hunt wit...
This is a very minimalist method for mobile saddle hunters. We are showing you exactly how we climb into large trees with minimal equipment, cost and effort.
This method may not be for everyone, but think of it as another tool in your arsenal. Please watch until the end as there's a lot of information on DRT climbing technique that we believe is one of the safest, quietest, least expensive ways to climb a tree for saddle hunting. I hope you all benefit from our technique. Please like and share with others.
Please remember that climbing of any kind is inherently dangerous. The DRT climbing method has been a standard in the arbor industry for 100 years. But remember It's only safe if you do it right. Ensure your knots are tied correctly and make sure you set every knot before you get off the ground. This is our method that we use in saddle hunting, but only do what makes you comfortable and do this at your own risk.
Feel free to comment down below with your questions, We'd love to help in any way we can.

I got tired of the preset line getting twisted/in-the-way; so, I attach the end of the loop to the end of the climbing line ( I've sewn on a small strap to the end of the climbing line for an attachment point ), and once I pull the climbing line up and over, the preset loop is entirely on the ground. From there, you can use that preset loop as part of your gear/bow hoist and it's completely gone/out-of-the-way for climbing. On the way out, I do the opposite to lower my climbing line to the ground safely/quietly; there's no reason to let the end of the climbing line come down and slap your arm or slap your face. Use 1 line to upgrade/downgrade the other line, simple.

Those r great. I use them on my saddle I use for 🌳 cutting. I hang shorter pieces of throwlines on them that I use to advance my climbing line up a busy 🌳 when u can't get a throwball up from the ground over the crotch u desire. All my paracord loops have the loop on the right side. I half hitch the other side to it. When I get up to stand height & tethered in I always pack away my climbing rope nice & neat. I do the same thing with my paracord loop. I put it on a S-carabiner on the left side of my saddle. When I climb down I pile hitch that loop on my paracord onto my climbing rope & bring it down. All my presets r in thick areas & I attach them all the same when i leave. Very well hidden where they r wrapped around to a dead stick that is over a small limb not on my tree I climb up. Sometimes the height on that small limb allows me to not use the dead stick. To each his own & I believe everyone should find a way that works for them on the public land they hunt which is all different. I just try to have continuity in a system for more efficiency in all areas.

I would consider that a scent wick though

Paracord loop is semi permanent so it remains in the tree when you come up to it , it should be free of human scent . You could handle it with gloves on or with the s clips it also makes it easy to remove it while your climbing line is in and just use the climbing line to reinstall it before you leave and while your hunting it would eliminate that concern

Great tip....question is there any reason why you couldn't leave the loop like that perminately? I understand you'll get extra friction. Just a thought. Oooh it'll also keep your loop from twisting.

You definitely could as long as lower limbs don’t interfere with the path of travel

I find those clips a little hard to work in the dark. My fingers can’t tell where the gate is and the paracord gets hung up on the gate when I finally get it open.
Is this the biner you are still using?

I use whatever is available. I bought 100 of these S biners. You can use bigger clips. Whatever works for you.

I was surprised to see you pull your rope up with that big knot in it. I’d be afraid of it getting hung up in a crotch.
Any suggestions? I find that pulling even a paracord loop though a crotch with Dynaglide I encounter a lot of hangups.

I normally wouldn’t. That crotch is one , about 90 degrees to the trunk at a diameter of 14”. And Two about 12 ft off the ground. One of the trees in my yard that I use for video content
In a hunting scenario always best to attach tail end first .
