    Rani Laxmibai didn't had a chance to kill british women and and their children. She was herself so unsafe that she took her infant tied to her on the battle field, to fight british to save her honour. To break her strength, the East India company general slayed the her baby first and then brought her down. She is Indias Joan of Arc. But,the difference is, we Indians have honoured our queen for her valour and self-esteem. She did not meet the fate of Joan of arc, who was set on fire by her own people. British invaded Jhansi and made dishourable demands to the queen of Jhansi. The history of the Tyranny of East India company had no limits. Mathew Santoro, u should do some research before making such videos and enlisting her name on any tyrants list. She is the Idol and never a tyrant. Shame on you.

      Peter Lee Ching Rani Lakshmibai’s involvement in the massacre is debated across the board by historians and she was reluctant to fight the British until they forcefully asked her to surrender to her Jhansi, which of course she refused to do. An army doctor, Thomas Lowe, wrote after the rebellion characterising her as the "Jezebel of India ... the young rani upon whose head rested the blood of the slain"

    • @bymeerabrowngothicroyal
      @bymeerabrowngothicroyal Před 5 lety +7

      From Wikipedia: Four days after the massacre the sepoys left Jhansi, having obtained a large sum of money from the Rani, and having threatened to blow up the palace where she lived. Following this, as the only source of authority in the city the Rani felt obliged to assume the administration and wrote to Major Erskine, commissioner of the Saugor division explaining the events which had led her to do so.[26] On 2nd July, Erskine wrote in reply, requesting her to "manage the District for the British Government" until the arrival of a British Superintendent.[27] The Rani's forces defeated an attempt by the mutineers to assert the claim to the throne of a rival prince who was captured and imprisoned. There was then an invasion of Jhansi by the forces of Company allies Orchha and Datia; their intention however was to divide Jhansi between themselves. The Rani appealed to the British for aid but it was now believed by the governor-general that she was responsible for the massacre and no reply was received. She set up a foundry to cast cannon to be used on the walls of the fort and assembled forces including some from former feudatories of Jhansi and elements of the mutineers which were able to defeat the invaders in August 1857. Her intention at this time was still to hold Jhansi on behalf of the British.[28]
      Siege of Jhansi Edit
      The storming of Jhansi - Lieutenant Bonus
      Jhansi Fort, 1882
      From August 1857 to January 1858 Jhansi under the Rani's rule was at peace. The British had announced that troops would be sent there to maintain control but the fact that none arrived strengthened the position of a party of her advisers who wanted independence from British rule. When the British forces finally arrived in March they found it well-defended and the fort had heavy guns which could fire over the town and nearby countryside. Sir Hugh Rose, commanding the British forces, demanded the surrender of the city; if this was refused it would be destroyed.[29] After due deliberation the Rani issued a proclamation: "We fight for independence. In the words of Lord Krishna, we will if we are victorious, enjoy the fruits of victory, if defeated and killed on the field of battle, we shall surely earn eternal glory and salvation."[30] She defended Jhansi against British troops when Sir Hugh Rose besieged Jhansi on 23 March 1858.
      The bombardment began on 24 March but was met by heavy return fire and the damaged defences were repaired. The defenders sent appeals for help to Tantia Tope;[27] an army of more than 20,000, headed by Tantia Tope, was sent to relieve Jhansi but they failed to do so when they fought the British on 31 March. During the battle with Tantia Tope's forces part of the British forces continued the siege and by 2 April it was decided to launch an assault by a breach in the walls. Four columns assaulted the defences at different points and those attempting to scale the walls came under heavy fire. Two other columns had already entered the city and were approaching the palace together. Determined resistance was encountered in every street and in every room of the palace. Street fighting continued into the following day and no quarter was given, even to women and children. "No maudlin clemency was to mark the fall of the city" wrote Thomas Lowe.[31] The Rani withdrew from the palace to the fort and after taking counsel decided that since resistance in the city was useless she must leave and join either Tantia Tope or Rao Sahib (Nana Sahib's nephew).[32]

In a poem which was written in 12th Century A.D. is a review of how she got on a throne (which was not ruthless btw) and she was the one who rejected the law of punishment by death. I think these women learned to rule by what they saw. Their parents were also pretty vicious. It’s in the blood and when you’re young you learn from others. Also a lot of men thought and still in this day think women are some sensitive creatures. Women had to be even more dominant than men in those times in order to rule and be feared. I can’t imagine Mary Poppins ruling any country and surviving a week. If you were weak you died, everyone was ready to kill to get to the top. It was the way back then.

Patton Understandable, but if I made CZcams videos about people with Chinese names for a channel with with almost 6 million subscribers then I'd give those few names a minute or so of research to learn how to pronounce them reasonably well so as to not say "Chairman Mayo". It'd be less work than getting the rest of the information.

    Just a note: I don't believe Elizabeth Bathory was ever convicted for consuming the blood and flesh. I did read that she forced at least one of her servants to cut off and cook her own flesh and made the servant eat it. She absolutely did bath in the blood though.

    Fact check for the Tamar here: The Russian prince was banished for sodomy and addiction to drunkness. He also did two coup attempts, but failed and then disappeared. David was Soslan, not Solsan and the man depicted in the photo next to Tamar(when Matt mentions David Solsan) is the famous poet Shota Rustaveli, not David. Also, Yuri was abusive.

    About Mary- she was the GRANDDAUGHTER of Isabella of Spain via Catherine of Aragon (Isabella's daughter and 1st wife of Henry VIII who was dumped for Anne Boleyn). I wouldn't exactly call her vicious considering how bad her father treated her (he stripped her of her title when she sided with her mother and refused to let Mary see her mother during the last years of Catherine's life as she was exiled after Henry forced that divorce on her. Mary was a good Catholic girl who was loyal to both her mother and her faith. OF course she had "daddy issues"- she blamed him, Anne Boleyn, and the Protestants for ruining not only HER life, but sending her mother to an early grave. Under those circumstances it makes perfect sense she'd want revenge once she became Queen! She went after the Protestants to avenge her mother. She was no more a villain in that sense compared to Henry and her Protestant half-sister Elizabeth I (who both killed off more Catholics than Mary killed Protestants!). Mary was the victim of a bad PR slander campaign by male Protestant historians of the post-Elizabethan era. More recent biographies notice this, and have shown far more sympathetic portraits of England's first regnant queen. A biopic of Mary I is long overdue, and would be great Oscar bait for any actress who shall play her!!

    • @industrialover
      @industrialover Před 5 lety +1

      Mary went after the Protestants because she was a devout Catholic & she thought everyone else should be also. Have you read about Catherine of Aragon's upbringing? It was severe, brutally strict. Punishments were harsh. She was a Stern Catholic woman who punished those who weren't Catholic.
