It's a shame clear plastic is so bad, because I really like the shoulder-mounted guns being clear IN THEORY. It makes it look like they're floating behind him! Like he can just telekinetically control his weapons, and that rules. If they could make it STURDY in a modern toy? Oh baby I'd be all over that.
I’m glad you didn’t harp on Energon Mirage too much. Transformers Energon was the series that got me into the franchise. So I have a lot of figures from that line.
Funny enough, I have this mold in a nice turquoise and purple color [they renamed it to Dreadwing claiming it was a copy of the original Mirage or something.] After a while though, I just started calling my toy Mirage too.
There's a second sound, you have to press the trigger again AFTER the cannons are deployed. It's ok if you missed it, I found it like 2 or 3 years ago and I got my Mirage AT LAUNCH. so it took me around 15 years to discover that. And hey, those are some POWERFUL batteries, mine still have power on them after nearly 2 decades.
Pretty good find given how old this guy is, and with all missiles/unbroken at that. I've had this one from when it was released and never thought about the clear plastic bits as I've had no difficulty messing with him from time to time. The one annoyance I have though when articulating the knees is the entire legs pop out very easily. Other than that despite the kibble a really fun toy with a unique transformation. Mirage, Bulkhead, and Landmine were amongst some of Energon's best entries.
I was never able to find this figure while enter John was going and it wasn’t until around early 2008 that I finally found the super link version. While I will admit, this mold definitely has its flaws. I really enjoyed it while I had it.
I remember having Energon Sharkticon as a kid and thought he was Mirage for the longest time cause I didn't see him in the show and the 2 had very close color schemes with the tan, purple, and yellow. Wasn't until Thew did that Botcon repaint into G1 colors that I knew what it actually was lol. Sadly broke at the waist I believe back then, wanna get a replacement at some point...
There were some incredible looking toys that came outta Energon. Personal favorite I own is Omega Supreme or Optimus Prime w/ Wing Saber. Love your vids and collection!
I freakin love that mold! (Had the OG blue version) It was so cool then, it's so cool now, one of the best boat figures I've owned.
That shade of brown is what I call "white that is stained by cigarette smoke in the 80s" but with the yellow and purple I don't hate it. Honestly I think the coatail is like 1 transformation away from actually looking cool
You know, that hole in his torso, that would make a great “play feature” by allowing a sword to be posed stabbed through him, lmao. Would totally have done that if I had him as a kid playing with the toys
I love this guy to death. Even got the blue one and head canon mirage leading his sweeps.
Also appears like they were trying to hide the head panel making it clear because it could be seen inside through the cockpit window
I have the dreadwing repaint of this a teal/blue/purple version and it’s a nice yet goofy figure. This design could use a voyager update cause how often do we get boat transformers and the boat is cool looking
That gaping hole in his chest is from when Shockfleet gave his heart to Gal-sama!
It was so hilarious when he mentioned Blitzwing shoulders because I was thinking the exact samr thing!
I saw this figure before...and the more I look at it, it looks like nightbird because of the colors and the body
I have such a soft spot for boat transformers, and Mirage is a great example of them. I'd love to see a modern interpretation of the character.
