The Necks - Live in Concert

- It’s hard to pinpoint how The Necks sound because they sound like nothing and everything all at once. Their minimalistic, repetitive improvisation with piano, drums and bass sounds like it's coming from one single, new never-heard-before instrument. The Necks can be delicately quiet where the slightest contact between a drumstick and a cymbal will take the music in a totally new direction, and they can come at you loud and fierce. They are a very rare musical experience.
This concert was filmed at Jazzhouse in Copenhagen and The Necks perform a piece called “Ohioan”.

In all fairness, though, I must warn you: You will get reacting Comments from teenagers who think the world cares about their tastes in music, decades after you make the most idle of Comments.
What an amazing band, they are the magical cross-over between free-jazz and ambient and they've been doing this for 30+ years. Total pioneers of a new genre - very, very special artists!
who would put a thumbs down to this....god no time to listen and experience what is truly music in a modern age. ah well cannot educate the inflicted mind.
I'm always in awe of these guys. Masters of the intense crescendo!

Amazing trio. It saddens me when I see people who are incapable of comprehending the skill level of these players.

+Risto Laiho I'm not sure if you combined my message with the response to it. I don't care if they play the same notes. I agree it's hypnotic. It's more than that. It's beautiful. The complexity of the simplicity is part of their magic.
I would say a lot of people don't comprehend The Necks music. Your question is a good one though. If someone calls these musicians bad musicians then to me it's clear that they are incapable of comprehending their skill level. These are master musicians who are fluent in the language of music.

I do listen to them. Mainly when I'm driving. This is perfect road trip music.

Keith Jarrett used to do this sorta stuff...nothing new here. But still quite nice.

+Louis Wain I don't know his whole discography but you can try the album Changeless
without the annoying moaning though; Also, there is no record of Jarrett where he does that sort of relaxed stuff more than 10 minutes
I would'nt say it is similar, because Jarrett's stuff is wider in range and intent, (he's not a minimalist at all), but you should definitely check out Survivor's suite and the 3rd side from eyes of the heart
