In fact, she has already taken added services. It is reasonable for locals to spend two-thirds of the price and enjoy services that are not much different.
I'm from Changchun, and I'd say the scrubbing culture in northeastern China is not because of dry cracked skin. It's because before heating and home showers became common, people didn't bathe very often, especially in the winter. It was too cold for that. Most often, people's daily washing routine just consisted of washing their face and feet, so when they did bathe, they would end up having a lot of layers of dead skin and oils and stuff that had layered up over time. This isn't centuries ago either, since the Cultural Revolution made China behind the rest of the world. I was born in 1990 and I still remember our family getting our first home shower when I was 4-5 years old, and even then, it wasn't convenient to use because it was common for the water to leak to the floor below, so if you didn't want your neighbors yelling at you, you showered only sparingly. There are also still rural communities today that don't have showers or modern heating solutions and don't bathe as often as a result. This said, Chinese people don't develop BO nearly as much, and sweating in Dongbei winter is pretty rare, so it's not as bad as it sounds.
The fact that she says the price was very reasonable at $58 USD and then I remember my crappy pizza lunch delivery today was $60. Reasonable isn't even the right word.

I once went to a lovely bathhouse in Dalian, It's actually a rain forest with real tropical fruits growing there next to the pool you are soaking (not allowed to pick though). There are several water slides where you can have fun. There are both indoor and outdoor pools , and pools with different themes. And the best thing is it is open 24 hours! I will never forget I was soaking in the water in an indoor rain forest while no one else but some dinosaur models was around at mid night. An unforgettable feeling.

WOW! Just the seafood selection at the buffet there looks like it is better than whatever seafood buffet we can get in Sydney PERIOD. This buffet alone would have cost $150 AUD or more in OZ.
There is a Thai seafood buffet in Sydney costs like $99 for regular, and $120 for premium I remember. Beffet in star casino is a joke, but I heard the new crown casino has some decent buffet.
But only for food, bath and massage are not included. I really hope we can have this in Sydney, a nice place to hang out with mates. Go to clubs and bars are kind boring now, and I can't watch movies all the time, also boring...
As a boy who grew up in southern China, I was also shocked by the bathing service in northeast China. Welll actually, it really became a local culture in Dongbei. Moreover my friend who studied in Dongbei told me in most bathing centers, the average consumption would be lower than in the video. around 200-350 yuan ( 30-50 dollar). When I go back to China, I will definitely take my parents to Dongbei to experience it😄
I was just in Shenyang yesterday specifically for the bathhouses hahaha, although I went to two different ones, Pop Forest, and Qinghe Peninsula. Pop forest is pretty similar but space themed. Qinghe Peninsula is more resorty and has a whole villa section where you can rent up to full cabins with private hotsprings. The main building has a bathing section like usual, but also multiple floors of communal (swimsuit required) hotspring sections for mixed genders as well as a small waterpark and outdoor pools (the ones that are still open run with warm water thankfully) Seems a shame you didn't go to Qinghe Peninsula, as that's pretty much the benchmark bathhouse in Shenyang. If you are still in Shenyang by the time this video was uploaded, highly highly recommend. But don't book the tatami indoor hotspring room if youre staying the night, that room in particular doesnt have adequate ventilation and after using the hotspring the temperature stayed 29-30 for the day with ac on full blast. If youre going and wants to stay a night, get one of the villa area accommodations. There are small 1 br houses if you go alone or with dirk, but there are also full cabins if you have more friends!
They obviously have more entertainment in that building, I've heard they have video games, vr room, sports center, gym, mahjong room, library, bowling center, ktv....

The Dongbei bathing culture indeed is wonderful. One needs to say that this was more on the pricey side compared to other bath houses in the region, but given the standard, understandably so. 😉 As for things to do during winter: the Harbin Ice and Snow festival would be a regular choice, of course. However, I would be very curious what Wudalianchi (五大连池市), Heilongjiang province, might be like at that time. During the summertime it is truly beautiful with all the green, the volcanoes, and the lakes around. With snow and ice it might be pretty amazing. Not sure about accommodations, though.

you can go to winter amusement parks in shenyang or the ice festival in haerbin, they have like these cool massive ice sculptures and they even light up at night, it looks pretty cool!!
Amy you help me to understand why some Dongbei-ers commented on the bathhouse scene in Shenzhen as "meh, it's ok"..Your video is definitely eye-opening.
this buffet would cost $100 CAD in Vancouver Canada. the 100 min massages would cost close to around $350-400 CAD. we're looking at over 3000 RMB plus taxes if we're looking for this kind of spa - which is non-existent here in Canada anyways.
We get ripped off either way. Just came back from Beijing via Tokyo, and in both those 2 places food costs are at most 50% of what we have here, and last time I checked, our median income per PPP is nowhere near twice as high as compare to those 2 cities. You know what, it's not the framers' or catering's fault, they are at the mercy of the wholesalers and suppliers, and it's not even their fault. I blame the greedy big corporations and inept and braindead policy makers. It's not a partisan thing, from what I've seen, policy makers from all political parties seem equally ill equipped.
Yes, there are this kind of bathhouses in most big Chinese cities. But the best ones (both service and price) are in Dongbei. Shenyang is called the bath capital for a reason , lol
This type of spa may be found all over China, with varied levels of quality and interior design. Most of them allow customers to sleep overnight in private massage rooms when they are empty and not required after midnight for no extra charge, making them perfect for travelers who do not want to pay for a hotel room. In theory, a person could live inside the spa without ever leaving, eating and sleeping there. For conducting office work, some large-scale spas have private office space or business center with a computer and desk. Yes, you can live there forever without having to leave! All you need is money to pay.

Yup😂
not many canadians are comfortable being naked in front of strangers.
@@qilu2004But i saw 100 people ride bike naked on the street in downtown Toronto before😅😂
With so many employees, the price in Canada will go through the roof😂😂
@@david911510 naked as "with absolutely nothing on"?
That looks so good.
Completely pampered eh! LOL! I am so jealous! A 90 minutes massage here cost me $150 CAD just this past Friday.
Hi, Amy. I saw you in Yuxiang’s video yesterday, both of you are cute and so kind to each other. Hope you and Derek, can go with Jasmine,Peter n Yuxiang to make a great video😊Haha
Wow it looks really nice and relaxing
For the whole winter, I'd love to see her simply have a mukbang eating da la pi and guo bao rou or perhaps, having a showcase of Russian/Russian--inspired, Manchurian, and Korean foods in Dongbei
事实上,并不存在韩国食物
Wow, amazing service and full on experience, tenks Amy for the detailed information, now I wanna try it next time if I have the chance to visit the northern part of China, I am kinda nervous when thinking about getting the massage with my "birthday suit", but I will try to be open minded and try it out if I have the opportunity to do it :)
Great bathhouse is a must if you visit China. Not expensive and can really relax.
Harbin Ice Festival starting January 5th, 2024.
I’m so envious 🥺 that’s just my kinda place to go and have a day to myself. So cheap compared to Oz. Thanks for sharing. 🙏🏽🥰
you can go to winter amusement parks in shenyang or the ice festival in haerbin, they have like these cool massive ice sculptures and they even light up at night, it looks pretty cool!!
time to bring your family to China again and let them have wonderful time like you 🥰🥰🥰
Okay, go Dong Bei for bathhouse is definitely in my winter to do list. Can’t wait to get scrubbed!
Holy shitnik! $58! Only! That is easily $200 at a minimum if something like that even exist here in the states!
U should have brought Derk along for this adventure as from what I read, bathhouses are a big part of German tradition.
No fkk in China though. Naked but not coed
That is definitely sensational to have a buffet in a bathhouse, providing services to the customers.
Soaking in an outdoor hot spring after a heavy snowfall
amazing
I grew up in Shenyang, this is my city! This episode just made me sooooo happy!! and of course, home sick..
Wish this type of place existed in the US. What a great way to rejuvenate after a long work week.
$58!! That's like the entrance fee of some k
Korean spas here in the States. With no food or massage!
Amy you help me to understand why some Dongbei-ers commented on the bathhouse scene in Shenzhen as "meh, it's ok"..Your video is definitely eye-opening.
That looked amazing! Would love if you could do a video on things to do in the winter in Changchun! Moving up there soon! 🎉
Hi Amy. You don't have to suffer the winter there outdoor, you may play Majon indoor the whole season!
It will be slightly better if can choose service before started. at least halfway wont in dilemma of adding services or not
this buffet would cost $100 CAD in Vancouver Canada. the 100 min massages would cost close to around $350-400 CAD. we're looking at over 3000 RMB plus taxes if we're looking for this kind of spa - which is non-existent here in Canada anyways.
You can ask for a female masseuse, usually all the spas in China have female masseuse for female guests.
在中国,如果出现男女裸体按摩,会被举报!那是违法的!所以博主享受的按摩服务肯定是女性工作人员!
@@AmazonBZDZKK
我說的是足部按摩師,Blondie可以要求女按摩師。
男性按摩師可應女性顧客的要求進行正常身體按摩。
i had a friend she would just stay in the place like this for her full weekend.
Are you kidding me! What an establishment! We are so behind here in Aus, I need to go to that place now! Are there similar ones in other cities? ❤
飞机完之后再一觉睡到天亮是吗?看来你没少做,咦嘻嘻
You should go to Harbin this winter! They have the biggest ice sculpture festival in China!!
Immediate reaction is I want to go there right now! Sign me in! I just need time to learn a little bit of Cantonese 😅😜‼️
I would love to visit Dongbei in winter! I’ve always hated the cold but after being fascinated by places like Yakutsk and Longyearbyen, Iceland, Lapland,Greenland or even Hokkaido and watching so many documentaries and vlogs I’m not scared anymore Good clothing right attitude and Vit D supplements and you’re ready … best thing is to be prepared and embrace all the good things that this region can provide you with! I’m vey much looking forward to see what you will make of it! Enjoy it and share with us 😊🙏🏼🫶🏼
Take care absolutely loved this episode

东北的人们不讲粤语。
Oh no! Dear, people from Northeast China cannot understand Cantonese.
Hello Emily, like your video, you should go to Qinghe Peninsula and Mu Li and Wuwei, these two are currently in the first line of Shenyang bathing center will let you have a more different experience, thank you for promoting Shenyang, time to buy you a meal
Such facilities is a hit in China ! May I make a suggestion to visit 曲水蘭亭 in Hangzhou please ? Heard that is the “Hermes of Spa & buffet in China” ! 👜
I remember this spa houses in China 🧖♀️ this is the best. Why they don’t exist in the rest of the world? 😭😭😭
"he's got a table full of xiaolongxia."
Yeah that would be my dad at any buffet.
Imagine you off the work and walking outdoor under -26 degree thinking about the stress you’ve gone though today and walk into this place…
You are one of my favorite youtuber in china, I have been following you since chopstick legs and you continue to surprise me with your adventures and food adventures. Keep up and keep going with your adventures I will be following you and wishing if only I was there.
I loved my "bathing" sessions very much in Jilin. Used to be a weekly affair. With promo vouchers, it can be really cheap too. It has to be experienced in person and something not available in the south.
That Spa looked rediculous expensive but costed next to nothing! And you were sò pumped about 😉 Nice!
I ahve been to another bathouse in North Shenyang the same modern korean drama on the big TV and restaurants
Recommending you go experiencing other bathingroom in Shenyang, like Qinghebandao or Paopaosenlin, more luxury than this one, and more kinds of seafood in the buffet area. and thank you for propagandizing my hometown😊
