      The polyphonic has been my favorite! I still want a "real" ride but this thing does a pretty awesome job at being my crash/ride. If I want it more 'pingy' I just slap a piece of gaff tape on it!

    I absolutely love the Meinl Duals. I have two of the 20” Dual crash/rides but use them strictly as dedicated crashes. I also have the 22” Dual crash/ride that is used as the “big finish” far right side crash. I also managed to get my hands on one of the early pre-production prototype model Dual 22” rides. It’s considerably heavier than the crash/ride and has a much larger bell. It has, for me, the perfect balance of stick definition, wash, and a bell that will harm you if you stand too close.

    I picked up a Meinl Byzance Vintage Pure 22" light ride cymbal a couple of years ago. Rather dry with a lot of stick definition but it has enough 'wash' to be useful in a variety of musical applications and it crashes well. Meinl has come a long way and they have quite a variety of quality cymbals in their line up now. The Vintage Pure ride has become my favorite ride cymbal in my collection.

      His collection of cymbals sold would pay my rent for half a year or more but he's an endorsed artist they sent him a large amount and likely with no cost to him and I'm sure being a member of I Prevail didn't hurt either most of us today will never have it like this social media had made sure of that alit think it's made it better but it hasn't only chance to easily profit is like this a youtube channel but takes a lot of time and slot of money to do that as well. With the year at best I've got left my gear will be out of pocket will bring no profit only music to leave my wife and child as My Legacy and most definitely will in no way be Meinl not on my budget LoL

    • @jonathandowney7000
      @jonathandowney7000 Pƙed 3 lety

      By the way allow me to inject one more thing no one will ever say as young as he is he hasn't earned his endorsement he's done multitudes of videos and at 47 yrs old now even I have learned from some of them myself but like many that reach a certain level and like Metallica lose the hunger they had to get to where their making money and once they do they don't try as hard anymore not sure if that's happened to him or last I haven't really watched many of his videos anymore but I do know the second album from I Prevail in my opinion was an example of that definitely lacked in several areas and often that comes with making a decent profit off the first but it's easy to strive to be the best when you are trying to get paid once you have it's not so necessary to try as hard but when labels see that your not as big in the next release that money slows down as well and slot of artists go through it fast and just end up in debt and can't climb back up a second time at my age I've seen it happen alot too much actually and have done it myself and at my age not even trying to be a success I just love the music and playing it and have some amazing cymbals even I can afford and sound as good or possibly better in the studio time will tell sorry for the length to everyone I tend to ramble these days but I've got a year at best so if I think it's worth saying I'm going to say it LoL

    I am sure that this list is comprised of the current catalog, but one of my favorite rides was the 22" Dark Raw Bell Ride. Meinl did make a foundry proof dual ride, which was my absolute favorite. I bought it from Memphis and it had the raw bell, the right amount of ping and was just a phenominal versatile ride. But limited on stock and they didn't pursue the concept into production. It was lathed on the outer edge like the Dual Crash Ride, but the inner portion was the dark hammering.

    I have the ghost ride but the old version from when it was still b8 bronze not b10 (which I like way better) and if you put a lil price of tape on it its a really nice ride for heavy stuff with a premium bell and if u put more tape on it it sounds really dry and is also nice for not so heavy stuff and better to crash

    i just bought myself a 22” Spectrum ride on ebay the other day for only £190 which is like less than $270! i’ve finally completed a full meinl set up with my 14” Jazz Thin hats, 18” Extra dry thin crash, and the 22” Spectrum ride - i bought them all used this year for half the price of buying them new and i’m super happy having wanted a full meinl set up for years now!

    I got my first cymbals- the Meinl MCS. I have a 16" crash, 14" hi-hats and a 20' ride. I want to buy another crash cymbal also from Meinl which has a good prize and it is also a good sound and quality cymbal. I am looking for the CC series and the pure alloy as well.

    If anyone here is like me and is very, very far away from being able to afford Meinl Byzance check out Zultan cymbal. No, they're not on the same level in most cases but still hand made Turkish B20 cymbals for your family man, hobbyist type. Many of them are damn close though and about 1/3 of the cost

    Hey Gabe. Was wondering if you’ve ever played on the Meinl Byzance 22” Jazz Thin Ride? To me it has the perfect stick articulation mixed with a very thin, dark crashable dynamic.

    • @andyham6094
      @andyham6094 Pƙed 2 lety +1

      The jazz rides are great and the thinner lighter ones make for amazing thunderous dark big crashes as well but their weaknesses are the bells. The bells are just way too washy and nonexistent but some people like that. For my live show ride for my band I like a defined bright pingy bell but still have crashability. The polyphonic is the best thing Meinl has for this description. Zildjian’s sweet ride and sabian’s evolution rides are all great too but the Meinl polyphonic is def my favorite ride of all time. I have a jazz medium thin ride and it’s great for a practice ride tho
