- Well sh*t, here we are a video series I didn't think I would have to make, on 03/10/2016 I was diagnosed with thyroid cancer.
I will be vlogging my treatment, thoughts and recovery when I can. If you are watching this and have any questions please ask.

Dearest Joe I am so glad you have been accepted for a trial. From someone who has been fighting stage 4 ovarian cancer for nearly 3 years I am so thankful I managed to get on a trial which included immunotherapy and the reason I am still here fighting the fight today. I am off the trial now as it unfortunately stopped working after a while. But it has definitely helped prolong my life. Lots of love to you from someone who totally understands what you are going through xxx.... IGUANA

I’m glad you are bringing some light to how cancer is depicted. It is romanticized much too often in my opinion. I’m glad the radiation helped with some of your pain. Very best wishes with the tumor removal and the trial. I hope the benefits are great and the difficulties few and tolerable. I really like your beach background today. It looks like a happy place for an iguana 😊

Went to Florida this past spring and they also had lots of iguanas 🦎 on the sandy beach. Loved it there. Btw… You’re looking good Joe! Sending you healing vibes, and good luck on the trial!

Hey number 8, you’re right it may not work but guess what, it might. My brother did a trial almost 2 years ago and he is doing so well he has gone back to work 2 days a week because he was bored at home. I really hope with everything I have that you have the same success ❤

I'm so glad you go chosen for a trial Joe. It seems that he immunotherapy at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia seems to have really good results. I'll keep you and your wife in my prayers.

I was a sim patient today for year 1 medical students for a large university here in Australia. They were learning how to check lynphnodes. I mentioned your series to a few of the students.

Friend was number 9 in her trial. Things were bad going in no guarantee. 4 years later we just finished 9 holes of golf and a lovely lunch. I would never have believed a bed ridden 108 pound person could recover so well. She off morphine and is exercising daily and gaining weight.

Woohoo!!! Having the option for the trial is at least something to try!!! I know different but I was diagnosed with stage 4 lung cancer in December 2019. Immunotherapy is why I am still here Keep is updated ! Glad you can get the tumor removed from your head, will they remove both? The side effects I got was intense insomnia , with like a feeling of gravity pulling to the floor. It is Keytruda , it is definately different then what you are getting. It did effect other organs in my body and stopped taking it cause I am doing well and my adrenal gland was being effected and I truly didn’t want more steroids to deal with!!!! IGUANA!

Seriously, from the way you were speaking at the beginning of the video I could tell something had changed about you for the better and it must have been the trial news (I don't think it would have been because your kitten had been castrated) I am really pleased to hear about the trial and wish you well, looking forward to your next catch up video. Iguana: thanks for the update Joe. Watched The Midnight Club a few weeks ago..... as always with a Netflix series, was at least 6 episodes too long. As far as dealing with the cancer story, I'd say they didnt even bother.

Joe thanks for the update! I hope this new therapy works wonders for you. Something similar has kept my Sister in Law alive for the last 5 years. I've been to Tulum but don't remember seeing iguanas. Guess they were away that day. 🤣
They were everywhere when we went! Every building had them sitting all over basking in the sunshine and it was hot!
Trails are trials but I have every hope for you. Please let it work. Stay strong mate. Personally I'd rather you were 7 of 9 in the trial then you'd kick ass !

It's amazing what cosmetic surgeons can do to reconstruct and hide things these days.
Really disappointing to hear about the lack of uptake with the iodine but then I guess your cancer has inherited some of your stubborn/determined genes.
Being accepted for the trials is superb news and I hope it leads to some major breakthroughs (with the minimum amount of uncomfortable side effects).
It seems you've got a balanced and healthy approach to pain relief - that's definitely something a lot of people could do with getting advice about.
Have an *iguana* if you wanna just don't take it in the sauna! 🦎

Saw an iguana once in the Florida Keys (quays). It didn't give a fu*k; just gave me chilled eye vibes as we passed. So, IGUANA.
My scan showed some uptake in thymus. RAI non avid. Living 9yrs with metastatic thyroid cancer stage 3 BRAF v600e mutation. Had some tall cell. Initially the tumor was stage 3 the size of a golf ball,with lymph node spread. I only had 1 round of RAI 90 mci didn't touch it.

How common is distant spread? All info says rare! I’m pretty new to PTC diagnosis.
I get the results of my radioactive idoine treatment and body scan tomorrow. I am scared. Mine was an agressive columnar cell palpillary cancer :/. I truly hope the best for all of us. Royal Marsden hospitals are mine too. They are brilliant

Hi Joe...since Selenium is needed to absorb thyroid hormone.. Could you have taken supplement (200 mg) with treatment? Just a thought. I have Hashimoto's.

The alternative to a trial is doing nothing and dying quicker, this trial will at least give me a chance to live I wouldn't normally have (even if its slim) and help others who might suffer in the future to me this is the only real choice I could make.
@@JoePlater The chance to help others is the only thing that would convince me to do any treatment, but we are in different places in life. My kids are grown, my job is done, I'm just marking time as it were.
